Frankly, the echo chamber has had zero effect on me at this point. I'm loving the fact that we're getting another roller coaster. Period. I'm also old, have traveled for different coaster experiences before, and will continue to do so. I'm a thrill ride junkie and always have been, but I'm still not against taking my kids to Disney for a week, to spite their lack of great thrill. I'm also not against driving from Indianapolis up to Cedar Point, or down to Carrowinds to take in the bigger coasters. KI is my home park because I can be there in no time, spend a day, and then drive home, and they've always offered coaster experiences that are certainly exciting and fun. When folks started calling it Diamondback 2.0, I got excited, because if it's the air time experiences of Diamondback, but 15 mph faster? That's going to be awesome.

Closure of Dinosaurs Alive and opening of lots of land.

I would say this guy is a spy, because if he didn't call that almost spot on, I'm not sure how you could be closer. -
Absolutely, sourced from Midwest Coaster Fans. Edit: it appears that there is a concrete truck there with the drill.
-
I just saw a pic shared on Facebook of a ground drill going vertical and starting to drill for what is believed to be footers.

If I'm to be honest, I'm a little perturbed by a person who has 4 posts, and 50% of those are telling other members of the forum what they should be doing on the forum. Beyond that, I guess I'm just being cranky.

Are you a moderator or admin for KIC? If you aren't, I would say that the policing is probably handled already.

The queue situation will be interesting. I'm actually looking at those plans, and trying to decide if they are taking out part of the outdoor queue area from FOF to make more room in X Base, and possibly this is why the old Firehawk queue is being used for FOF now. It's really tough to decipher on the plans (mainly because it's been 20 years since I've look at working drawings)

No one is too much sure just yet what the pad is for. There is thought that possibly may be a new haunt. I've not heard anything about Crypt returning. So far that building is a seasonal use building that will be used for Haunt.

Project X.... the new coaster going into X Base. I had just assumed they code named it based off of that simple information. I guess there could be more to it than that, but I didn't really over think that one.

Meh, it could be worse when you really get down to the brass tacks of it. Positives, it IS in fact a Giga, it IS in fact a B&M, and they build good coasters. I'm excited to see what it becomes, and more so excited to ride it.

I don't want to be the one to tell you, but these are the actual plans. The PDF didly someone shared was easily faked, but working blueprints cost money, and as much as KI likes to troll with teasers and what not, filing fake working prints with the city for something like this is a cost that's not worth playing with people's minds.

So, it appears as though it's basically Diamondback, but taller?

I was searching that site, and from what I was lead to believe by the folks on here is that Mason is where the building permits will be, since Kings Island is now no longer actually considered part of Warren County.
-
Well alright!! I couldn't for the life of me remember seeing it, and walked past the entrance to x base 3 or 4 times.
-
Now I'm trying to remember if that sign was there when we were there last Saturday....

Complete History of a Kings Island Ghost
lifetimecoaster replied to KIghostguy's topic in Kings Island History
I've gone hunting for that info myself in the past, and there is some info here on the forum, but from what I've heard, there's not really much interestingness in the story. It was a house that was on the property when they took over that property, and they kept it as a storage building that is now starting to collapse in on itself. -
I think that the situation will be more obvious once the concrete is poured. The height of the footers will probably tell a story.

One of the things I noticed Saturday that's very helpful is, when they say you can't hold onto items on a ride, have that stuff in the bin already. There were a lot of hold ups due to people not putting their stuff in the bins. Also.... some people's kids need to be monitored, and not sent out on their own in the park. I know everyone likes to believe that their kid isn't horribly behaved in public, but after watching someone's child in line for Vortex that was eating mulch, and jumping over railing into "not a place to wait in line" areas, I was a little annoyed, and I can only imagine that the ride ops were too. Ride ops and other staff of the park are not there to babysit children, they have extremely important safety things to do.

I tried the new Brewhouse on Saturday and was happy with my experience. There was a couple at the bar when we sat down that huffed about how we were going to be spending at least an hour there, which to me didn't seem like an outlandish amount of time for a sit down dining experience. We were all in about 1 hour, ate, drank 2 beers each, and were out. The clucks and barrels were good. Chicken was fried well, and the tots were hot and crisp. There were 2 cash registers open when we came in, so it appears that staffing is getting better. No complaints from me, just figured I'd drop a good experience in here to help you see that you're moving forward.

That's interesting, I've never tried the back seat on The Bat because the ride is not super fast or tall so I normally go for the thrill of the front seat. May have to try rear seat.

Being there Saturday and getting to see the land clearing from the tower, there is far more land cleared than the pictures really put into perspective. I'm hoping for something big and amazing, but I'm also not going to be super let down when it's not. So long as its a giga, I'm down to ride and enjoy.

We did Brewhouse on Saturday. The line to get in was long, but we found out that you can eat and order at the bar, so we went and sat at the bar and ordered. Had clucks and barrels, and was not disappointed at all!! Took about an hour all in, but we drank a few beers while we were there.
-
It's very distinct in its lines. It does look like there could be a pole barn going up there, but every time I've ever helped someone build a pole barn, we bore the holes for the poles before we put down gravel like that... very interesting.

Hey me too!! Yeah, I realized after making these plans that it's not just Saturday, but Coasterstock, PiviP, and the first really nice warm Saturday of the season. Yeah, I'm thinking it will be bad. Oh well. I'll get to ride some stuff, that's what I'm going for.

Coasterstock 2019 - May 17th & 18th
lifetimecoaster replied to IndyGuy4KI's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Do you think this freestyle stand will be open only on the odd hours, when it's under 80 degrees outside on a Tuesday?
