"Ovaltine? A crummy commercial"

Oh I assure you, who I am as a person has been molded, and re molded by seeing things from a different point of view numerous times over. It can happen for sure, but there are also the foundations upon which you stand, and some of those things are more moral based than anything. There, you probably shouldn't be as flexible.

To play devil's advocate.... Why is it such a problem when someone says "that offends me" or "I don't find that funny"? Opinions differ. There's nothing wrong with that either. I will however side with you on the idea that everyone thinks they're right about everything.

Employee suing for sexual harassment
lifetimecoaster replied to ohiocoasterfan's topic in Kings Island
To expect a thread like this to not go poorly is short sighted to say the least. Sexual harassment/ assault is a VERY polarizing topic. You have your "always believe the accuser" camp, and you have your "I need hard facts" camp. Where the line gets blurred is when you attempt to discuss the legal aspects. On one hand, in situations of sexual harassment/ assault, as a human, you should side with the person that FEELS they were harassed/ assaulted. I'm not the judge, I'm not the jury. Did something happen to this woman that made her uncomfortable? Yup. It's that simple. I will side with her on the fact that she was made to feel uncomfortable in her working environment, and went for help and was ignored. We can all agree that she FELT that happened to her, whether a court room, and jury or judge will see it the same, is up to that court room. It's a terribly sad thing to happen to anyone, for any reason. -
Hrmmm..... is the "storm area 51" thing related? Is that the teaser?

Well the theming allegedly is due to lightning. However, the Valravn thing, and the Diamondback thing.... those are concerning.

It seems that they are starting to work on polishing the park a bit, putting back some theme elements, and modernizing some things. I look to see this continuing to happen as time goes on. I think outside of our new coaster, we should look to see more polishing, and restoring theme. Frankly, the coaster is a huge dollar investment, so I anticipate any other changes we see to be small investment.

It really is! It doesn't look like much, 3 little sliders and some tots, but dang, it filled my chunky butt up!!

Had a new item last weekend when I was there, because they accidentally brought it by me instead of my pub burger, and I decided that my next meal would be that, because it smelled delicious. The three pigs... highly recommend that one if you haven't had it yet. Really good!

Vortex is an absolute classic for me... based mainly upon the nostalgia of being young and having that be my first looper I've ever ridden. I throw 2 to 3 laps in on it every time I'm at the park for the sake of I love to ride it, and I want them to see traffic on the ride. That being said, it's brutal. I'm older now, and the whipping about that it does hurts. When you compare it to the newer coasters that are taller, and significantly faster, and are smooth as glass, it's a lot to ride. It's still a beautiful coaster to look at too. It's just so amazing to stand there by the bathrooms and look out towards it, or better yet, from the basketball game right next to the double loop. Sadly though, I know it's lifespan is growing shorter. Besides which.... it's sinking, so it's not as tall or fast as when it was new.

Well, there's not much left to speculation anymore with having the entire blueprints.... might as well reach for something to speculate upon now.

My thought also was if there's not a place that's concrete or asphalt to store the track, then you're going to have to clean the track sections before you put them in place to get the splashed mud and dirt off of them from rain, and you risk scratching the paint. The less moving, the less likely it is that something gets torn up.

Fortunately for me as it was, the SBNO period of Son of Beast was when I fell out of the roller coaster fandom for a while. I got to ride that coaster in all of its iterations, and always enjoyed it. Started back into coasters again after it was already torn down. That was an awesome experience, but I'll side with the folks who say it would beat you up. I was only into the idea of one lap on that ride anytime I went.

The UFO itself is pretty dusty, but honestly, it has stood the test of time (and guests that tear things up because they think it makes them cool) really well. The rest of the scenery in the show building actually looked really good. The efforts have not gone un-noticed. I'm actually kind of sad that they've gone to the LCD screen monitors for the show though. It would have that 100% 90's feel if the old CRT screens were still hanging in the scaffolds throughout the show room!!

I did notice Saturday that the whole theme is dated for sure, but being a nostalgia nut like I am, it is awesome to stand in there and see the 90's-ness that it is. And you'll never ever in your life forget the part in the preshow "PLEASE, Dick". It was fun to remember back to the first time I rode that, when the queue was full outside, and inside!!

It's funny you mention this, because Saturday I was sitting in the smoking area having a quick vape when a family was sitting down across from me, and their daughter said she didn't want to ride any more coasters and her dad said "well you're pretty well done with Kings Island then" and it dawned on me, as a coaster enthusiast, I can spend an entire day just riding awesome coasters, but they don't have a ton of rides for people that don't do coasters. It may be time to concentrate for a while on some flat stuff.

After hanging out all day Saturday, I can say I didn't meet a ride op that I wasn't impressed by. Those folks really do a great job. The guests on the other hand.... I was not impressed by the guests Saturday. My LROTN was Banshee, at about 9 I got in line and while I was standing there, I watched it stack 4 or 5 times. Once I got up to the loading station, I figured out why. The ops were working their butts off, but it doesn't do any good when you have to constantly upbar because people get on the ride, and then remember that there was something in their pocket, or that their wearing flip flops, etc. The fact that the ops stay calm and not lose their minds when this happens is highly impressive to me. Like, I get it, every once in a while you'll forget to zip your pockets or whatever, but when there are 5 people in the same train that they have to upbar for, it really starts the stacking, and it takes a lot of cycles to fix that. I will say though, that because of this thread, I learned about closing and buckling seats that weren't going to be used since I was riding alone a lot. I got thanked 3 or 4 times by ride ops for doing this.

They opened it Saturday probably mid day I believe it was. The line was full most of the day. I went by it at about 9:45 and the line was short ish, so I went and got in line to ride it so I could go up in the air and see the park lights. Well.... I don't typically ride the Drop Tower... and had forgotten how bleedingly long the loading and unloading process takes. I gave up.

I witnessed some rudeness on Saturday. Some of it was just people with entitled attitudes, and some of it was literally some of the most obnoxious behavior I've ever seen at a theme park. I'm not sure at what point it became cool to not only be rude to people doing their jobs, but to announce to the people that are with you that you'd done it, and how that makes you better than them at a volume where everyone can hear it. I feel bad for the staff that they have to deal with that.

I was on the tower watching the fountain on Saturday, and 1/4 of the fountain was doing its thing, but the rest was just spraying. If they can get it working right, it's going to be very cool. I'm assuming you're alluding to some kind of issue that may shut down other B&M coasters to fix it as well. If that's the case, I'm not really surprised. Diamondback has been finicky this year. I've been to the park 2 times this season so far, and both times I went they were having problems with it all day. The whole issue with Mystic was certainly odd. I noticed the lift hill sound effects weren't working as soon as we started up the hill, and then when the shed didn't do its thing, I knew something had to be up. I did also notice, and maybe this was just me not being used to mystic, but when I rode it early in the morning it felt like it was flying. Significantly faster than I remembered it being.

Went Saturday as I had planned. Just me by myself all day with no wife or kids to slow my roll through the rides. The only rides I got put on with strangers were Banshee, FOF, and White Water Canyon. Surprisingly, I rode Mystic, and The Beast by myself, which seemed like 2 coasters that they wouldn't leave empty seats on. On White Water Canyon, I got put in a boat with a family of 4 that was there celebrating dad's birthday. They were fun. Definitely had fun!!

There is a strong likelihood I'll be there loner style tomorrow. With it being a Saturday, it may be interesting to go alone.
