That seems really soon. If that's the case, how soon do you think we should be hearing about it? Do they usually give pretty good advance notice for these things?
-
My bad for jumping on you about it, doesn't matter anyway its all resolved. In any case yeah I'm really hoping we see some teasers soon. Ive given up trying to predict when they'll show up though.
-
First of all, this argument has been going on since before I actually made my account. (I've been lurking for a couple years). First example I saw of it was during the I-Street thread so there's clearly some tension regarding that stuff. Secondly, if you don't want there to be people arguing in the thread a good policy might not be to show up, continue the argument, and tell people to shut up. Your whining about this isn't any better than anyone "whining" about the rules. By many accounts the moderation here used to be pretty ridiculous (giving people warnings for misspelling ride names and nonsense like that) so I guess I'm glad I wasn't here during that time. I think we're all hoping for this.

Complains about arguments Restarts the argument. Dude, no one here flew a drone. No one here is in any way unclear on what the site has said the rules are. The argument was about a disagreement with said rules. On the one hand, we have people who think this site caters too heavily to what the park wants, despite the fact that it's an independent site. On the other, we have people such as you (I assume) who are obviously fine with it and don't agree there is an issue, which is fine. The argument was over. Don't complain that everyone is arguing and it's so "trivial" and then jump in to try to get the last word like it's going to help anything.

I mean...I'm not sure why anyone would care about that. Is that something they typically play with to arrive at the advertised height?
-
SV has a 45 min wait before the park even opens? My god. I still haven't been to CP since SV opened and I really want to get on it this summer, not looking forward to the lines though.

I liked the Gwazi one going back through all the coaster additions, would have been cool to see something like that with this.
-
I think we're all fairly confident that's what they'll do. Just a goof.
-
Can't decide if I want to laugh or cry.
-
Reasonably soon I would guess. Was just watching some of the old teasers for steal vengeance, and the one for RMC Gwazi...My god KIGiga is coming in with a whimper by comparison. I really hope the announcement is pretty awesome.

^This is the best idea we have ever had. There's no possible way this can go wrong.

.....or we could JUST DO IT!!! WHO'S WITH ME?!?!?!?!
-
No one is arguing in favor of people carrying phones on rides, but it is a little over the top to get upset when you see a bootleg POV on youtube. Actually seeing it in the park when there's something to be done about it is something else.
-
I also follow park policies...no one here broke any park policies, that's a big part of the point here. You may not think it's worth the discussion but this is clearly not the first time this has been an issue. I didn't participate, but I saw in a thread from before the park opened that this came up before over someone taking aerial photos of I Street. It's clearly a point of contention around here, so I don't think the best solution is "if you don't agree with it leave".
-
Right, and what I'm saying is that's not what's at issue here. KIC didn't fly a drone over the park. A member of the forum linked to a Youtube video that showed someone flying a drone over the park. Enforcing park rules is not the job of this website.

Not sure if you've been reading everything here, but the question isn't whether Kings Island has a Drone Policy or not....
-
Totally agree with this. That could be a real problem for the guy that flew the drone, if he got caught. Surely Kings Island doesn't have any say on what kinds of links we can post here. If they want moderation control over a Kings Island web forum, they can always start their own.
-
*sigh* could someone PM me a link to the drone footage?
-
lol I was just trying to make a joke. Not sure why they haven't said more about it.

Come enjoy Kings Island this summer! We have the New KMAA, Grand Carnivale, and we tore down Firehawk last year so there's one less coaster! Come on, It's great in here! #KIBestday.

You're absolutely right. How could I forget the spyplane?! Apologies to @Captain Nemo when this thread started I was pretty new and didn't really start to recognize people on here until later on
-
I see where you're coming from. It might be a good idea next time to separate the threads a bit. Maybe have one which only deals with official teasers and one where blueprints are allowed. EDIT: To put it more simply, maybe a *WARNING SPOILERS* thread and a no spoilers one.

I highly highly doubt that anything that's happened on this forum has impacted Kings Islands plans regarding unveiling this thing. What have you seen that makes you think the local media is "hounding" the park? Do you think that Kings Island wasn't expecting the media to ask questions when they started clearing a large section of the park and filing blueprints for a new roller coaster? I'd also have to ask, to what end do you think the park would decide to withhold dropping hints about the ride in response to all this? Would it be to punish enthusiasts? Would it be to punish John Materese (who I'm sure they feel does more good than harm by reporting about the park)? I really do think we should put this idea that we "ruined" the ride for ourselves to bed once and for all. The entire stated purpose of this thread was to figure out what the new coaster was. Maybe it was figured out more quickly than some would have liked, but could that just be because over the past few additions this forum has gotten better at piecing these things together? Should the members of this forum that did the heavy lifting on this thing ( @fryoj, @BSBMX @Bansheeback, @RuthlessAirtime, @DustinTheNowamong others) have done a worse job? In any case, this will continue to happen each and every time the park begins construction on something new for the foreseeable future, unless the park decides to change the order in which they do things, or laws change. If Kings Island wants to spill the beans themselves, the only option they really have is to unveil the ride before they file blueprints. Short of doing that, or policy changing somehow regarding these things, this will happen within days of them filing the blueprints every time. I have to assume they know this, and have decided they would rather have the prints get out, than disrupt their own timeline just to get ahead of coaster enthusiasts . If you don't want to know the details of the ride before the announcement (which I totally get, btw) your best bet would be to avoid Youtube videos about the subject, r/rollercoasters threads about the subject, and DEFINITELY threads like this. I know it probably sounds like it, but I'm not trying to be hostile here at all. @JAHill this is not really directed at you, by the way, it's just something that's come up multiple times here, and I'm just unsure of what people on this forum actually want. You can't open up a Decoding thread, then get upset when things get decoded. There is absolutely something to be said for waiting to find out anything until the announcement, I totally get that and I think anyone that want's to experience it that way should absolutely do so. The good news is, unlike Star Wars or Avengers, there isn't anyone jumping out of their skin to spoil it for you. I know for a fact that the only reason I'm aware of Project X is because I sought this information out. Trust me when I say the vast majority of people around our area, even if they enjoy Kings Island, are almost completely oblivious to all of this.

You can pretty much bet this is what's going to happen
