Same. My kids especially just loved it. Looking forward to it next year though I won't miss the big crowds on weeknights.

Odd and a total bummer. I can see this happening but that would be super lame. I really hope they start dropping regular little hints for us to geek out over for a bit.
-
I'm still hoping for something but yeah, Monday feels like a really weird day to start teasing.
-
@collin.klopfstein is there today, I'm sure he'll update when he gets a chance.
-
Bring us some good news Colin!!!

I think Vortex is totally hit and miss these days. I had an absolutely awful ride on it the first weekend of may where it was running super slow and just felt off, then a really decent ride on it a couple weeks ago. It just depends.

I see your point. Annoyed is not the best word I could have used. Disappointed is a better one, because I was really looking forward to that aspect of it. Make no mistake though, I'm having a great time this season and it's not something I spend much time thinking about when I'm there. I get that a lot of you think I'm wrong, and I guess at this point we'll just have to agree to disagree. I just don't like the way CF handles hyping up their rides. Still though, I'm sure there's a chance that by the end of the season I'll have a different opinion. As you said, there's still plenty of time.

If you're not interested there are plenty of other places in the forum . Yeah, there would definitely be some bull**** discussion, but I do think teasers make the whole thing more interesting.
-
I would guess cost. Does anyone remember when they got rid of these? The last time I remember seeing them was a very very long time ago.

does Kings Island typically extend the gold pass buying window?
ldhudsonjr replied to vermillionlove's topic in Kings Island
Not sure whether or not they will this time but I've seen them do it in the past. If I remember right they did do it last year for about two weeks or so after the supposed deadline. -
If this is the case, I'd say Cedar Fair is wrongheaded about the whole thing. Every single industry where there are enthusiasts will have people trying as hard as they can to find leaks and piece together what the next product is, and I feel like the hype is always better when the makers of the product play along and drop some breadcrumbs. Before anyone says it, I don't think filing plans with the city would be a breadcrumb. I guess at this point I'm getting a little annoyed because I was hoping we would be spending much of the summer discussing these teasers, but here we are in July and there haven't been any yet. Hopefully we'll start to see some this week.

I'm aware of this but I'm not sure what you're trying to prove ...I'm giving my opinion of what they're doing, not arguing about what their reasoning is.
-
I think you're misunderstanding me. I'm not saying that's not what their doing, I'm saying I think it's boring, and I don't agree that it would keep people from visiting this season. Also, of course he did that was opening day or near to it. As for the teasers, I'm not saying we won't see any, but the more time that goes by the less likely I think it will be.

2019 addition* KMAA is really all there is. I don't think new pavers and fixing a clock that's been broken for a long time would count as an addition. I agree. I'm starting to wonder whether or not we'll really see anything at all. People keep making the "they have to keep us focused on this year or else everyone will wait to come until next year" argument again and again. Here's the thing though: it's been clear since day 1 they were building something. It's to the point where the fact KI is building a new Coaster really isn't news, everyone already knows and everyone is already curious. In my opinion, the way they've chosen to handle the whole thing is just boring, and also a wasted opportunity to get people hyped up and excited about the park. Look at what BGW is doing right now and tell me you wouldn't find that much more interesting. The whole "nothing to see here" act when you've knocked down a coaster, cleared a bunch of land next to it, and are clearly beginning construction is just kind of a joke honestly.

lol no. Just asking if anyone knows what's going on there.
-
I'm aware that rides break down....Diamondback seems to be having an unusual amount of issues this year.
-
I'm starting to get curious now. It really does seem as if Diamondback has started having some problems, which makes me sad because it's my favorite ride in the park. Does anyone know what's going on there?
-
Anyone at the park today? Really wondering what it's like over there for the 4th.

Yes and no. To start with I don't think it would be in any way comparable to Kings Island adding another section. Six Flags purchased the Geagua lake property but then spent another $100+million to buy the Seaworld Ohio property and merge them into one park. CF eventually bought it and made some changes, but they didn't start closing things down until AFTER they borrowed a **** ton of money to buy the Paramount parks. Geagua lake was a huge park, and they simply couldn't afford it any longer after taking on such massive debt, because to your point it was EXTREMELY expensive to run. They had to cut it in order to afford Kings Island, Carrowinds, CW etc... In any case, its one thing to try to merge two large parks into one and THEN add a water park, it's quite another for Kings Island to add a new theme section. I just don't think it's a good comparison. In short, I think the opportunity to purchase Kings Island and the other Paramount Parks outweighed their commitment to their also (relatively) recently acquired Geagua Lake park.

Yeah we went two days back to back, lol. Would have seen it three times but the first time we went we basically gave up after waiting almost two hours for the rain to stop. Kids loved it. The first time we were pressed up against the Build-a-Bear and it was super uncomfortable with people trying to push past us the whole time. Second time we set up shop near the front of the Fountain across from the main entrance and enjoyed it way more. Surprisingly good show either way.
-
I see your point but I've also heard it theorized that Geagua lake was a casualty of the massive debt CF had to take on to get Kings Island among the other parks. They had to shed some weight after that.
-
I do like the blue, but yeah you're right that looks pretty incredible. Makes me a little sad actually, lol.
-
Sometimes I feel like people are under the impression Kings Island is a small park in a small market. Yeah Cincinatti isn't as big as Charlotte but it's also placed in such a way that it draws people from many cities in three states.
-
My four year old and her seven year old brother LOVED it. Especially the part where they get to join in and dance. There's also an opportunity for kids to get on the bandstand stage and dance, which both of my kids just loved.

I'm sure it's a factor to a certain degree. Expanding and building a new area adds a significant amount to the cost of a project, and I'd be really surprised if there aren't attractions at the park right now that they would consider taking down and replacing before building a brand new area. But yeah, I agree that they wouldn't take something down JUST to keep from having to expand. In any case, mostly I just wanted to put in my two cents that I'm not crazy about the idea of the park just staying the size it is now. At some point in the future I'd love to see another area added.
