Well I rode The Beast when it had the skid breaks, and I liked the fact that when the train went over them you didn't really notice it. But when they had that bump in the station, they changed out all the skid and replaced them with magnetic breaks. The thing is the spots were they but them in, they just putted a few in the section. So when the train is hauling down though the section it comes up on the small section of magnetic breaks, and everyone falls forward. I never remember that happening with the skid breaks.

I just say "Already got one"

SOB's loop, it was so perfect and smooth, wish I could say the rest of ride was like that.

Absolute WORST park-going experience of my life!

The best way to avoid line jumps is to go on less busy days. -
The Animal known as The Beast!!!!!! That double helix is just awesome!!!!
-
Same here, last time I rode it my knees dig into the back of the seat in front of me. And it always felt like the OTSR was a bar clamp on my shoulders. So its like my hole body would be in there tight, but my head is lose so on those rough snappy turns, it flopped around like a piece of meat! Then I would wake up with a sore neck in the morning. So I've retried from riding Vortex!
-
Yep it wouldn't be a problem if they clean it every night, before the gum has a chance to really stick and bond to the wood. But that's Kings Island, if they can't do anything about the wood surrounding the bottom of the lift at DB, then cleaning that gum won't happen any time soon.
-
I've ridden both of them, and have stopped ridding both of them. SOB does a nice number on my spine, and rib's. Vortex no leg room, no head rest extension, the jurky turn's are murder my neck, who ever bent the track did a horrible job.
-
Well I stopped riding SOB, my last ride was in the front seat. Could just barely stand that, can't see how anyone could ride that thing in the back. I just don't believe that wooden coasters should go that fast, unless it's built right. So I give it a poor rating. I prefer The Racer, and Beast!!!!!!
-
Another thing I just love to see is juice stains on the pavement, left over by a ripped garbage bag. I know that when I putted trash at the park I never pulled a bag out that was dripping. Well I guess if no one is going to clean off the gum on The Racer tunnel, then it will be added to in the future then.
-
Yes I knew it's not the parks fault, but still The Racer tunnel has been like that for year's. Even during the off season's, no one cleans it (every off season). The very worst I've seen it was at SFSL, while waiting in line for BMTR, there was an entire round wall covered in gum. I almost lost my lunch when I saw that!
-
While I didn't ride The Racer or Beast opening weekend, I rode them both the second weekend. And its like both coasters were sitting there the hole winter, and no one cleaned off the gum. The worst is in the tunnel to The Racer on both sides, cat walk, hand rail, wall, all covered in gum and old spit that had turned black, I mean some of the gum on the cat walk's has turned the same color as the wood. I've even noticed what looks like colored markers, in waive lines almost as if while the train is moving they put there marker on the wall and draw all the way down. I would hate to be told the ride had broke, and were getting everybody off in groups of six, and having to walk though all that! Only place I've seen it on The Beast is on the first lift, a little bit on the second lift, and the final break run leading to the station. Sorry if another post had been started about this, couldn't get the search to work.

The one I heard a few weeks ago while waiting for seat 16 on DB, the group behind me was talking about how SOB will mess your back up. And does the park close at 5pm today?
-
Yeah Congratulations, Nice Trip report. I can't believe that I used to like Vortex, I've stopped ridding it period! I'm 6'1, Vortex has no leg room, to rough for me. My neck is always sore the next day!
-
When they said they were going to run both side forward, I could not have been happier. The ride was meant to run forward, I rode the backwards a few times and didn't like it. It was rough as hell, and that was the front seat!

Yes I will have to agree with that, the park needs to make a big statement about line jumping. Not just say if you line jump, you got the go the the back of the line, or if line jump again you'll be forced to leave the park. It should always be, if you line jump for any reason, then you'll be forced to leave the park. No back talk, no BS, get out of the park. I don't see if they don't do anything like that, then people will keep line jumping. -
Wow sorry to hear about what happen to you on WWC. I do think that's pretty bad how a manager and a ride op were yelling at them, then when the raft returned they didn't remember the raft that really did that. That would have to be three or four mins right? Yeah I've gotten 12 rides in on DB in one day, pretty good.
-
I really don't like that, after a rain storm they take all the trains off then just leave one running after the rain. Just don't understand that.
-
After ridding it over ten times this year, It does seem like the trims are coming on harder. I can remember in the past the train would be hauling though the second tunnel.
-
Nice trip report, congrats on your 50th ride on DB. I hope to get to 50 soon.

Son of Beast was while it was being built, I believe. -
Lucky I wanted to go today after seeing the webcam, but couldn't make it up there. In the morning it looked like there were walk-ons DB.
-
I still don't get why they do that, it makes the line's a lot longer. A five min wait for The Beast turned into a 20 min wait, so when it rains just go home. Coming back after the rain, you will be waiting in lines that should be walk-ons or short waits.

Pilgrim's Plunge experiences lots of downtime

Yep believe it or not, Intamin does not a good track record with prototypes. They are usually closed for half the year, some times with major overhaul's. -
Yeah to bad Kevin, about the waits. So am I hearing this right, after the rain they were only running one train operation on The Beast and others?
