  1. It was a soft opening. There is a terrible quality video on periscope that someone posted of the soft open. I like the new location of off the charts as it encouraged more kids to dance in front. I think this location has a better possibility of audience interaction and I'm hopeful that will happen as the performers get more comfortable there. I agree that some bleachers might be nice... Or even better would be some tables like what they had around for the food truck event. I'd love to grab dinner and be able to watch/listen to the show at the same time.

Tables! Yes, that's a perfect idea; something like the sun-shade thing in Action Zone maybe.

  2. I get the feeling the dog show will pack the ISP like no other show in recent memory.  Off The Charts deserves bigger, more into-it crowds for the quality of awesome music they power out (those legit HORNS... wow!) The Grandstand is a neat place, but it needs a kind of 'bleachers' thing, where people will have a place to actually sit... maybe. It just looks sad watching such an amazing band not receiving the kind of audience feedback they deserve!

  3. ^^Tb, Did you just change your profile picture for the first time in a long time!?  :)

Falling trees = wooden coaster, shoulda seen that in hindsight, but hindsight is a funny and tragic thing.

LOL! Yeah. I liked the Plants Vs. Zombies mushroom because he reminds me of the geysers at WWC; however, I always have a little fun with these attraction-guessing threads. Those who know don't say anything; those who don't know break out the PhotoShop! ... I do think "Train" is a play on "Terrain," though.  I wouldn't have guessed it without "key," but I'm not sure where else the term "Key terrain" is used in the civilian world...

  4. I was looking over the unlighted fountains last night at about 9:30. I miss seeing the lights in the fountains, the tower floodlit (in its original pattern), and all the rooftop lights (now blocked by the broad leaf trees)... and hearing the symphony music.... and so on, and so forth.  :(

  5. This afternoon was a study in soak certainty! Several geyser "enthusiasts" teamed up to form one of the most entertaining "Squirtillary Battalions" in recent memory! A larger-than-usual group of supervisors, and a technician, were on hand to observe. We put on quite a show--er (see what I did there?) Tally: 24 boats (only go for the full ones, with "dry" screamers), 3 phones and 1 pair of shoes... arrrgh, to the bottom o' Davy Jones' locker, mateys!

Only one rider came to express her sore displeasure for being splashed... on a water... ride... anyway, fun was had by all; everyone was laughing. Best times at KI ever.

  6. I am surprised Don has never tweeted a picture of him stirring a pot.  For example him standing in front of a huge pot of Skyline chili stirring it.  It would likely even have a pretty normal text which means nothing important to us at least.  I could see him using "While you are at King's Island check out our local favorites like Skyline Chili".

Or, perhaps, a picture of him in a lumberjack outfit, with a hearty ax over his shoulder...

Tb, watching for falling timbers  ;)

  7. Some random observations from the second show yesterday (my third time watching this season)-

During the pre-show, the "volunteer ladder holder," this time a guy who usually is first-in-line and who appears to really enjoy these shows, did a great, spot-on Cirque clown impression, causing the whole house to laugh and applaud.

I'm not entirely sure, but it looked like the purple clowns did an improvised, Vaudevillian 'walk-by' in the background during the portrait scene... I don't seem to recall that from the first day of the show. It did add a little more to the bit, which for the most part had been somewhat static, with an artist, two gnomes playing around with a seated "volunteer," and a gnome just standing there playing various percussion instruments.

I'm used to seeing more tramp wall performers. They seemed to be down one acrobat during the co-routine with the trapeze. Hope everyone's well!

I've decided my favorite music is the Egyptian-sounding soundtrack to the tramp wall/trapeze act. Simply mesmerizing, especially with the spot-on drummer!
