  1. Here is my ride reviews section. Maverick-This became tied for favorite coaster ever. The airtime is abundant, the sense of being out of control is all there, and the tunnel launch is fast and furious. Not to mention the past vertical first drop. 10/10 Magnum XL-200-I still cannot get enough of this hyper coaster. Built in 1989, this coaster still tops the list as well for me. The ejector seat is pure bliss and you get almost violent airtime over the camelback hills. 10/10 Top Thrill Dragster-I forgot just how intense the launch was and even though we only got to ride it twice, this ride still takes my breath away every time I ride it. An amazing ride. 9/10 Millennium Force-The future rides on this every day and ever time I ride it I feel like I am riding on the smooth steel rails of a big blue monster. I love this coaster to this day with a passion. 9/10 Raptor-I love to kick that Sandusky sky! This invert has so much forces and the first drop still gets my stomach every time. Not to mention the ever famous cobra roll. 8.5/10 Wicked Twister-This ride slammed into my top 10 on this visit. The twists sitting in the front and back are violent and forceful and really make you wanna come back for more and more. Break the scream barrier! 10/10 Blue Streak-Besides Wicked Twister, this coaster is very underrated, the airtime is amazing and it is not rough at all. The dips really get your stomach and give you out of your seat fun. 8.5/10 Mean Streak-This coaster was not even the least bit fun. The trims slow it down to where it is miserable and it is almost as rough as the rose bowl on SOB was. I do not wish this coaster upon anyone, ever. 2/10 Mantis-If you have not rode a stand up coaster, ride it to say you have but other than that, I will only ride it once every couple of hours so my calves don't explode. 5.5/10 Wildcat-This coaster really impressed me with how smooth it was, except for the stop. If it has a short line, definitely have to ride it. 7/10 Iron Dragon-This is probably my least favorite suspended I have rode, the first drop is the best part, then after that it is kinda slow and methodical. 5/10 Corkscrew-The first drop and the camel back hill got my stomach in true Arrow fashion, then the true arrow roughness kicked in. 5/10 Gemini-Even though we only got to race one ride, it was well worth it, the drop still takes my breath away to this day, gotta love the arrow drops. 7.5/10 Cedar Creek Mine Ride-Adventure Express is better but the drop over the water makes this ride worth riding. 4/10 Disaster Transport-Something to get out of the heat and get a ride on a bobsled if you have never rode on one. 4/10 Skyhawk-One of my favorite flats, right up there with my baby Drop Tower. The restraints still make me feel like I am going to fly out. 9/10 Power Tower (Space Shot)-Did not get to ride the turbo drop but the space shot still takes my breath away on the initial launch. 7/10 Maxair-Still think Delirium is better, but they are about an even trade off to me. 7/10 Shoot The Rapids-The first drop really took my breath away because of how steep it was. I also got soaked which is what a water ride is meant to do in my opinion. But other than that the theming wasn't really abundant in my opinion. 6/10 Overall I was most impressed with Wicked Twister, which brings my favorites to Magnum, Maverick, Millennium, Top Thrill, Wicked Twister, and Raptor. Pictures to come!
  2. Well to start day 2 off we stopped by the McDonalds on the way to The Point. Then we headed to the park for ERT. Got there a little bit late and decided to go to Maverick first to get a ride in. We decided to stop on the way and hit Raptor up since it did not have too much of a line and I know how long and dreadful Raptor can get. Got a great ride on an amazing B&M Invert. After this we pressed on towards Frontiertown and decided to stop and hit Iron Dragon. After a ride on the dragon we headed back towards Maverick and at this time it was approaching 10:00. As soon as we got to Maverick we found a full queue line and about a 30 minute wait, at this point I was getting skeptical on the crowds for the rest of the day. Turned out, I was right, the rest of the day was quite crowded and every major ride, like TTD, MF, MAverick, and Raptor averaged around an hour to two hours. Throughout the rest of the day we got to ride most every ride at least once and decided to wait on the water rides for day three. On day three we decided we would give the resort gate behind Magnum a go for quicker access to Maverick for ERT. Big mistake, the line was wrapped around the putt putt course and back to the Hotel Breakers property. Luckily it moved at a reasonable pace. We got in the park and went directly to Maverick and only found about a 15-20 minute wait, so all in all the resort gate helped us out a little bit, but I would still stick to the main gate. On day three we decided we were going to get in some ERT and then go hit up the water rides and go to the water park for a little while. After our ERT on Maverick we decided to hit up Shoot The Rapids. We followed this up with rides on Thunder Canyon, and Snake River Falls. It was not very hot so we were shivering cold. We only hit up one slide in Soak City, Zoom Flume. The rest of the day was spent with the usual longer lines but getting rides on most everything we wanted to. We stayed until close tonight and hit up Magnum 4 times, including in my new favorite seat on any coaster, 1-3. On day 4 we were just going to go in the park for ERT on Maverick, and then wait for Magnum to open and then do some souvenir shopping. Got two great rides in and also got some souvenirs, including a Coastermania hoody for 10 bucks, a Raptor and Magnum frosted mug, two shirts, and two keychains. Then it was time to leave one of the greatest places on earth and head home sadly. I love Cedar Point and to this day it is one of my favorite places to be ever. We headed back towards Richmond and planned on heading straight home until we saw the signs for Kings Island. Well we decided to hit up KI as well and just ride Diamondback. Got into the park and found about a 20-25 minute wait but we were already used to the lines so it didn't bother us too much. But that ended us on a high note and concluded one of, if not the greatest trip of my life. Stay tuned for ride reviews and the rest of my pictures.
  3. It was decently crowded, it was a queue line full but only amounted to about a 15-20 minute wait.
  4. As some of you probably know I went to Cedar Point last Sunday-Wednesday. Well I took a LOT of pictures from my iPhone camera, so they are not too great of quality. I also could not get all of them to upload onto Photobucket so I only have a handful. As for the trip, we left Richmond, Ky. around noon'ish and stopped at a Skyline in Northern Kentucky to tide us over for hopefully the night. We ended up getting to the park around 6:30-7:00. We were greeted by a huge storm cell coming towards the park. We decided to go to Millennium Force first to get a ride in before the storm came and hit. As we were getting ready to bored Milly I looked off in the distance and saw a lightning bolt hit and thought oh great they are going to close it down as soon as we get on it, I was wrong. We were actually the last train of the night I believe. After they came and released our restraints out on the brake run to let us off because they were closing down we started to walk towards Maverick to see maybe if by the time we got over there the rain and thunder would let up. We got caught in the middle of a downpour right before you enter the tunnel to go under Millennium's second and third hills. We waited there for about 15 minutes and the rain finally let up, so we took off towards Maverick again. I got my first view of Shoot The Rapids, which was not operating (It had just opened the day before to give you a heads up of what day we went on). We finally arrived at Maverick to see a closed queue line, not to our surprise. So we sat under the food stand roof right beside the queue and waited on the rain and storm to pass again. As it started to clear up we went and stood in line to get into the queue as soon as they opened it. They began to test cars and it looked like it was going to be a pretty nice evening. Well just as soon as they started to test them the storm brought more lightning. So we decided we have 3 days left, we will go back to the hotel, eat, and then just come back tomorrow. As we were leaving it cleared up really nice and it appeared that all of the rides were back up and running. As wee arrived back at our hotel we asked them what a good place to eat was, and they recommend Chet and Matt's pizza. This was delicious, a must eat next time anyone goes to Cedar Point. The personal pan pizzas were so good and it was like a sports bar setting. Pretty much in bout an hour and a half or two hours at the park we got to ride one ride, Milly, due to the weather. I will type day two as soon as I get back home. For now I leave you with some pictures. As you will see I took a lot of photos of Mantis. Sorry for the iPhone zoom quality. Top Thrill Dragster sticks above the trees in Mantis' queue line. You have to love how twisted Mantis' back half really is. Truly a B&M staple of twisted track. Inclined loop juicyness! Mantis' giant vertical loop. Dive loop and entrance area. More to come!
  5. A Screaming Swing would be a really nice addition, not occupying much room, and a very thrilling exciting ride.
  6. I would love to see KI get a GCI woodie like Thunderhead, or Terminator Salvation. However I have not rode a plug and play, I have heard amazing reviews of El Toro so I would love to see one of those either, I wouldn't be upset if we got one and not the other though. I also wouldn't be mad to see us get a B&M custom invert like a Raptor or Alpengeist.
  7. I had wondered the same thing, I was looking on there yesterday and today and expecting to see a full queue for Diamondback and all I see is a very minimal wait time, 5 minutes at the most it appears. The only thing I can think of is that with the 4th being on a Sunday this year everyone has to work the next day and is celebrating amongst themselves.
  8. Got to ride Shoot The Rapids on my trip to Cedar Point last week. The ride never had a line in the 4 days I was up there, and after riding it I can see why. When I think of a water ride this is what every one of them should be like, I got soaked to the bone and not an inch of me was dry. The drop is amazing and the steepness really surprised me, as was seen in my on ride photo afterward. The theming is a little scarce at times on the ride, and the jets at the bottom of the second drop were not on for our drop so I was a little disappointed. Overall though I rate it up there with Daredevil Falls on my top water rides list. Both drops took my breath away and were very exhilarating. I still am a little confused as to why the back seats were roped off and had big stickers on the seats that said, Seat Unavailable. Anyone have any insight to this?
  9. I have lost my phone on The Beast before and the Ride Ops held on to it for me, very nice crew of people.
  10. I voted the best paint scheme as Invertigo, I love the red and yellow scheme. The best structure has to go to Son of Beast, theres just something about a wooden coaster structure.
  11. I was at the park today for about an hour and a half and I did not see Delirium go once, it made me wonder what was going on with it.
  12. The Alvey man banned you, that is wretched. I have always wondered how the experience on Shivering Timbers was, every time I have seen a coaster feature with that ride on it I am just in awe at the structure and how long it is. I also love that they included trick track on it.
  13. I had been looking into these ride nights and wondered how crowded they would be and how they would operate the lines and everything. Your TR helped clear some things up for me, thank you! Were you happy or not that they gave you Maverick instead of TTD for ERT?
  14. Which has done a better job, IMO Cedar Fair. Which do I still prefer, Paramount. I really miss the old days of HB Characters roaming the park, the theming around the park, and the magical atmosphere I got every time I visited the park. Those days are never coming back so from now on, it is time to move on.
  15. Ok Now I have a question as well. Say I want to ride Skyscraper, do I have to pay separate admission to get into Challenge Park? Once I get in there how much does the charge for Skyscraper usually run?
  16. I am a firm believer that every coaster should have a test seat, not only to give rider's a feel for the restraints and what not, but to see if they will actually fit before boarding the ride.
  17. I upgraded my Gold to a Platinum Pass at Kings Island for 60 dollars even before the seasons started. So I am going to save roughly 20-30 dollars considering a two day ride and slide is 75 and parking is roughly 10 dollars.
  18. Thank you for the Trip Report. It is always nice to see a TR where the family really comes into play and has a major role. I will be at the Point on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday so I am hoping for a great time like you had.
  19. I am getting a kick out of Terpy in this thread. I have noticed that at night on The Beast it seems to be less trimmed, I know this is false but I guess the night ambiance gives it that feel. At least the drops aren't trimmed like Mean Streak's is, yet at least.
  20. Since it is your first time to the point make sure you take in all the sights as well. Cedar Point can be a very beautiful park, especially from Millennium to Maverick, in that little wooded area. Get all the rides in, but by all means do not rush yourself.
  21. ^He rode EVERY adult ride in one day, on a summer Saturday? Wow, I have to give that man his credit, he's a brave person for attempting that.
  22. I picked Millie too mostly for this point. Having the privilage of attending CP on Opening Day for Millie way back when, it really was an amazing scene at this ride. I've never seen more people run towards one ride (Except maybe Dragster) than when the gates opened that day. I was able to ride it in the morning and at night and both times, the reactions from people getting off the ride were EPIC. That day is an experience I'll never forget and it was all because of this ride. I will never forget my first visit to the point back in 2002. At this time I was still a little bit leery of the taller coasters and at that time Millennium was the tallest at Cedar Point. I walked over to where the queue line starts at and I was debating on riding or not when I heard a train pull back into the station and I heard the ride op say, "Welcome back yellow train, how was your ride?" Then I heard a sonic boom of riders just scream at the top of their lungs, and then I saw them all getting off with smiles on their faces laughing and imitating what the coaster did on their favorite part of the ride. I did not ride it that year, I stuck to Magnum, but the next year I came back it was Millennium Force all day. Not to mention I waited an hour and a half for Top Thrill Dragster the next time I came back at around 9:30 at night by myself as a 12 year old kid.
  23. I have rode Mean Streak, countless number of times, and I still left the ride of because in my opinion there is no fun factor at all. The first drop is drastically slowed by trims, there are no airtime hills, and it lacks that one major element to make it a must ride for me. I guess what keeps drawing me back to it is the awe inspiring structure and the fact that once upon a blue moon it was king of wooden coaster, filling up the entire queue line and making America's Greatest Roller Coaster Thrill VHS.
  24. I will be visiting there for about my 4th or 5th time up there, but my 11th or 12th time in the park next week. For a person never having been to Cedar Point I will lay out my must rides and can if you want to rides. MUST RIDES:These are the rides that you do not want to miss, no matter how long the lines may be. Magnum XL-200- This ride may not seem like much compared to the likes of a Millennium Force or a Top Thrill Dragster but believe me, it is. After 21 years this coaster still packs a punch full of speed and airtime. The lap bars do not clamp down on you very hard at all thus resulting in increased air time (If you have ever ridden Adventure Express at Kings Island then the lapbars are the same on Magnum as they are on Adventure Express). Magnum is definitely a must ride no matter how long the wait may be, it usually doesn't get quite that long. Millennium Force- I cannot say enough about this ride. The first time I rode it it took my breath away in amazement. The lift hill is quite fast and if you sit on the left side of the car you get a good, unobstructed view of the ground as you travel up, up, and over the top. The drop is amazing and the overbanks offer a feeling unlike any other coaster because your not quite upside down but you are quite close. The down side to this ride is that the lines for it can sometimes get rather lengthy. Top Thrill Dragster- 0-120 MPH in about 4 seconds, 420 feet of sheer twisting vertical droppage, need I say more. This coaster is a must ride on any trip to Cedar Point due to it's mass amount of bada** speed and the daunting height of the drop. If you are scared of heights you can still ride this coaster because you are only up at the top for about 2 seconds if that and you don't really quite notice how high you are. The launch is very forceful and is something every coaster lover should experience. Lines for this have not been too terribly bad when I have been up there the past couple of times, but I consider myself lucky in that case. Maverick- Though this coaster may look small and not having any of the big drops or high speeds of any of the other coasters, Maverick is one intense out of control bucking bronco. Riding this coaster in the front seat will give you one of the most unique ride experiences found anywhere. The whole entire ride is side to side, head over heels, and full of airtime over the camel back hills. Lines for this ride can get very very long, but make sure you ride it. Raptor- What good is a trip to Cedar Point without kicking that good ole' Sandusky sky? Raptor is the big green inverted behemoth that stands on your left as you come in the main gate and walk down the midway. The drop looks like it is not the biggest but it packs quite a punch and gets your ride off with a bang very fast. Not to mention this was the first ride to incorporate a Cobra Roll. Seeing as the bird of prey is right off the midway the lines can get very long for this ride. Wicked Twister- The last of the must rides in my opinion is Wicked Twister. It's not everyday you get to be launched at 72 mph forwards and backward on an inverted coaster. This ride is located right along the shores of Lake Erie so you also get a great view as well as a very intense and fun ride. Lines for Wicked Twister never get too long, to my knowledge and experience that is. CAN RIDES:These are the rides that are worth waiting about up to 15 minutes for at the most. Mantis- If you have rode one stand up coaster you have rode them all. This one is no different other than the twisted finale at the end that can be extra strenuous on the knees. Power Tower- The launch side is the best side of the ride, even though in my opinion after the first launch the ride is really over due to the dull and boring little launches to slow the ride down. Skyhawk- This ride should really be called a must ride. You have a restraint that makes you feel very vulnerable and get the feeling of literally falling out of your seat. I fell in love with this ride the first time I rode it and I have to ride it every time I go to Cedar Point. Gemini- One of the best racing coasters ever. The drop will take your breath away the first time you ride it. You literally stay side by side up until the ending helix of both sides. The middle part of the ride can get boring sometimes but the drop makes this coaster worth riding. Maxair- Maxair and Delirium go hand in hand, some like one better than the other but to me they are the same, so if you want your Kings Island fix then hit this ride up as an added bonus. I hope this helps you and I am sure you will have a great time at the park. Make sure you ride all of the collection of coasters Cedar Point has to offer as they are all great rides. It's sad though that you have to miss Demon Drop, it was a very cool ride experience in itself. Have fun at the park and don't forget to post a Trip Report. -Jasper, KIC's #1 Drop Tower Fan-
  25. Good ole summer days at Kings Island, nothing quite like them. I take it from your information in your post you are a big Crypt fan eh?
