I'll give a rundown of my parks. Kings Island-My home park I guess you could say, considering it's the only park I get to visit every year more than once. The ride selection is great, great shows, and most of all there is something for everyone in your entire family to do. Overall great park. Cedar Point-Truly the greatest park on earth. If you are a coaster enthusiast and you have not been to Cedar Point, your not an enthusiast. Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, Maverick, Magnum XL-200, need I say more. First coaster to break the 200, 300, and 400 foot barriers. This park has it all. Dollywood-Can you say, underrated? I mean come on now, Mystery Mine, Tennessee Tornado, Daredevil Falls, Blazing Fury. Oh yeah there's this one I forgot to mention, they call it Thunderhead, it sucks though don't ride it. Busch Gardens Williamsburg.....er.Europe-Beautiful park, really nice landscape and the food is delicious. You also have Big Bad Wolf (God rest his soul), Nessie, Apollo, Alpengeist, and now Griffon. This park is truly a must visit because of how it is situated and how beautiful it really is. Six Flags Darien Lake-Meh, Superman is all they have in my opinion. Visit if your around the area I guess. Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom-Haven't been in a long time, I mean long. Last time I was there it was still called Hellavator, it was still standing for the fact of the matter. Chang is really good, great stand up, Thunder Run is a good woody, and I have never rode T2 so I really cannot say, but since it is a cookie cutter I assume it's just like Mind Eraser, which was alright.

I've always wanted to make it out to Blackpool Pleasure Beach and ride Grand National and Pepsi Max:Big One. I doubt that dream will ever come reality, I'll just stick to my good ole American Coasters.
-
Great TR! The tour must have been really nice to get to bypass all of the lines and get front seat access. I am curious though, did you get to ride in the front seat on TTD?
-
Touchdown, I stand corrected. I completely forgot about that turn directly after the first vertical drop. I do not know how I could overlook that.
-
Can't argue with that. Besides, contradictory to my last statement, I don't think you would be the same with an Avatar and Signature Terpy.

^Funnieist? Interesting choice of words. I have been in Tennessee all weekend and my mom just told me about the accident and I immediately came here to look for a thread and sure enough, I found one. I cannot believe this happened. My condolences and prayers go out to Mr. Shields and his family. As for the re-open topic, I am glad to see that nothing is wrong, as far as mechanically, with Firehawk and that it is opened back up. Sometimes things just happen at the spur of the moment. I have always thought Firehawk was one of the safest rides in the park and I feel more safe in it's restraints then about any other coaster. Firehawk does put your body through some pretty strenuous G's though.

Call me new fashioned, but I think Terpy needs an avatar.
-
I couldn't say, I have never met the man, nor know who he is. Wouldn't happen to be Terpy himself would it?
-
57 for me, that is not enough or my liking though. I would like to up my count to at least 75 by this time next year. BTW, Coaster Fanatics, this site has a profile that you can add rides and rate them and it gives you a neat little signature maker like myself and a lot of other people have on this site. There is no charge either.

I was in Dollywood Friday, what a coincidence. Glad to see you had a good time. One thing I don't agree with is, Mystery Mine only has two vertical drops. The one coming off the brake run after the first hill, and then of course the one coming off the second vertical lift. I don't really know where you think the other one is, unless you are counting the one coming out of the station as one. Also one more thing, where is Thunderhead in this TR. You never even mentioned it, IMO one of the greatest coasters out there.

My dream job at Kings Island is to work maintenance and get to go up in Drop Tower's, tower. I've always wanted to open up that little door on top and peek my head out and have someone snap a picture. -
Dollywood Perfect for Family Vacations
Jasper replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Just returned from my first visit back to Dollywood since the addition of Timber Canyon, so as you can see it has been a while. This park, IMO, is one underrated park. Sure it may not have the big huge thrills of Cedar Point or Kings Island but it has the family value and some rides thrill seekers will find fun. One such ride is Mystery Mine. I rode this thing not knowing what to expect at all. The ride itself was really enjoyable and unlike anything I had ever been on in my whole life. Thunderhead, simply put, amazing. Tennessee Tornado, never ceases to amaze me either. Mystery Mine-8.5/10 Thunderhead-14/10 Tennessee Tornado-6.5/10 Thunderhead is my new favorite wooden coaster, sorry Beast. This ride took me by sheer surprise. The first drop picks up speed so fast no matter where you sit at, and from then on it never lets up. This coaster packs a punch for it's size. Definitely a world class coaster. -
Cedar Point Thrill Checker

^I would love to see those pictures if you could find them. I have seen an article very similar to this one on the Point Blog before. The article featured the same guy, Tony and Tyler were doing an interview with him. It had a very interesting pic of him lying down on the track at the top of the lift and reaching over and under the track to inspect it. Very brave I say. -
It doesn't take near that long when you run to it and there is hardly anyone on the midway. I did run right past the Starlight Experience though so it kind of stinks that I missed that. But I'll trade 5 major rides in one hour for that anyday. Posted from my iPhone!!!

I have officiall changed my signature by the way, I think it's less eye bending. I've got another one-Most posts from a mobile phone. Posted from my iPhone!!!

Sucks that you went to the park with such bad crowds. Last time I was there I rode Wicked Twister, Millennium Force, Maverick, Magnum XL-200, and Top Thrill Dragster all in an hour. Sorry you had a bad day, but anytime your at an amusement park it can't be too bad.
-
Well I think I am going to change it anyways. It's getting old to look at. Another good topic in the awards would be, biggest news story of the year.
-
Is my signature really that obnoxious, in all seriousness here. If it is like to big or something I'll gladly change it.

Intresting CP Tweet

If Cedar Point did get an Aquatrax then I would think they would put it in like Soak City or the Challenge Park, if they put it in the real park with such low capacity it would make for a horrible line. -
I'm not alone on Arrow!! I love Arrow Dynamics, yes their coasters may be a bit rough but look at how pioneering they were. Vortex, Magnum XL-200, Big Bad Wolf, Nessie. Those are all legendary coasters. They may be a bit rough like I said but, Arrow is credited to have started this race to build the tallest and fastest with Magnum. Magnum then being an unheard of 200 feet tall and going a blistering 72 miles per hour at a 60 degree descent. Also at the time the inversion craze was going on and previously Arrow had designed the first 6 inversion coaster, our very own Vortex, so Magnum was something of a different breed with no inversions. This is why I think Arrow was one of the best designers ever. Plus they had the father of Roller Coasters in my opinion, the legendary, Ron Toomer.

Yeah this Calendar is really cool and easy to navigate, way to go Kings Island!
