I haven't been able to see this topic until today because of the play I was in, so now it's time for my 2 cents. Being a ride operator at FoF last season, I saw what they did to keep theming up. In front of the ride, they would play announcements like, "The time travel committe will meet last tuesday at 0-800 hours." Halfway through the season they added new ones that sounded like a call in radio station with people calling in about mysterious lights around the military base. Also, inside the hanger they added some new sound effects to make it a bit creepier. Also, some days the fog machines in the hanger would be turned on, but it was not an everyday event. Who knows, maybe the park would be able to spend more money on theming if guests would stop punching holes in the walls inside the building. Yes, TG does need a serious face-lift, so does AE, but if you don't like a ride, don't ride it. Thats why I don't ride Gillette: The Ad (AKA Top Gun) anymore. And yes, PKI does keep theming up alot better than MM does. SFMM had graffiti everywhere on Superman. That was the only themed ride line I went through at the park, but it was really bad.

I rode X at SFMM which does the same thing, seats to the side of the track, and this is how it's set up. The station is twice as long, so when the train pulls in it stops, lets everyone out, then moves to the other end of the station and lets everyone in. When the queue line gets to the station, the line breaks into two lines, one for each side of the train. You get in and have fun! Here's a pic I took of the loading station at X: You can see the heads of the people on the other side waiting to get on.

I just may have to drive by it soon and see, I live 15 mins away, so it wouldn't be a very big thing to do so. I'll try to get some pics.

I wasn't going to buy the shirt cause of the price, but I just may now... Oh, and since my parents don't like buying online, would someone be able to buy the shirt for me, give me the password and shirt, and then i give you the money sometime?

Well, it was the last day the park was open for the season, and I knew I wouldn't be able to ride it again for awhile. That's why I was excited.

Let's see... Where to start... Well I was not always the thrill seeker I am now, I used to be horrified of coasters! Yes, I used to look at Vortex and think it WASN'T fun! Yes, I was that little guy in RCT that said, "Vortex looks too intense for me!" I wouldn't even ride AE! And this was in about 4th-5th grade! Well one year, my parents decide to buy a family season pass to KI and I thought, well, maybe I should try some of the lower ones. We bought passes late season, so we could use them at the end of the season and the next, so we go in one day and I convince myself to go on Racer, and loved it. But thats not my story, that's just the background... Next season rolls around and I'm making progress in facing my fear of coasters. I had ridden TG, AE, and a few more tamer rides, but one thing was missing: a loop. It was time for me to tackle the challenge of going upside down. Since there was only one ride that looped only once, I chose King Kobra for my first loop ever. A friend and I get in line, and all I could look at was that loop. As the first train went by, I jumped because of how loud it was as it went by. As we got closer to the station, I got even more scared. I got to the point that I was about to cry. My friend said we didn't have to go on if I didn't want to, but I wanted to face my fear and got in. I get in the train, and prepare for hell. As we go up the hill, the only thing I look at is that loop. We turn around, and drop into the loop. I hold on for dear life and scream like a little girl. I walk off and my friend asks me if I liked it. One sentence sums it up: "WE GOTTA DO THAT AGAIN!" After that, I was hooked. Thank you King Kobra, I miss you, and thanks for getting me hooked on coasters!

Thanx for the pics Aaron/Pat. They look great. I love the pic of Jeff too. Too bad I never actually got to meet him this season. So Taz is going in next to wipe out beach?
-
Yup, thats exactly what show it was. That is still one of my fav cause it gives PKI something it deserves, TV coverage!
-
Well, I have my school play until late november, so that will keep me busy, but Dec will prolly be time for me to play RCT2 to pass the time away from coasters. Then preparations for the next season will begin again early 2004! I can't wait!

Last night, I was cruising the channels as I always do, and found something that immediatly caught my eye. Goliath from SFMM. I recognized it right away through the channel flipping. I then noticed that this was on a high definition channel! I immediatly turn on HDTV and watch (this was on Discovery Channel HDTV). Then after they feature Goliath, they featured Beast! Yes, Beast in HDTV! It was like I was actually there! Since I had made my last visit to the park earlier in the day and I knew I would not be back at least until Jan to start getting ready for next season, I enjoyed this. It turns out that SoB was featured earlier as well. PKI never looked so good. Even Jeff Seibert was in HDTV!

Does anyone have video and pics of the BB construction tour? I missed it and really wished I was there. Please link me!

Well I had an interesting Halloween. This was the first year (that I've gone to St. X) that they allowed costumes on Halloween. I went as a PKI employee (yeah, so I just wore a PKI shirt and my nametag, so what, I was too lazy to get a real costume) but others went all out. We had a monkey, a cow, a pink hippo, and the easter bunny all in school... and had a battle of the furries. Yes, they duked it out in the cafeteria. The cow got piledrived once. After school, I played some Amplitude (man I love that game) and now here I am online. How was your Halloween?

I wish I could go, but I have play practice which runs from 1-6 that day! If anyone has a camera (still or video) and is allowed to take pics/videos, please do and post them online for those of us *coughMEcough* who cannot make it to this event. Tell Jeff I said hi!

When to meet at Thai restaurant for PKI videos?
StXBomber replied to italianchef's topic in KI Polls
I origionally voted for sun night, but thinking more about it, I think it should be saturday. I hope this gets set up! And I forget, what area of town is this located in? -
I personally love the fast pass idea. I have used it at IoA and SFMM. If I did not have the fast pass at SFMM, I wouldn't be able to ride the rides I did! All of them were over an hour wait, some even longer! And it's not like cutting, because you still give something up, instead of time its money.

If PKI moved away now: I'd lose my job, bummer! I'd have to go to CP for my world class coaster thrills (lets face it, SFKK doesnt count as "world class") and I would only visit it once every 2 years or so. If PKI never was in Ohio: I'd never get hooked on coasters. I mean, PKI was where I rode my first real coaster (Racer). I wouldn't have met you all! I wouldn't work at an amusement park.

Actually, he was talking to me. My nickname on my crew IS Harry Potter.
-
Yeah, it sucks. So does working at FoF during fearfest when lines for 3 mazes combine in one area to make it near impossible to get back to your ride on time from break. Make us pay cash again!!!
-
Yes, look directly above the storage area for The Vortex cars, and you can see a little half circle cut out where the track of The Bat went through. Also, the cemetary is still there. It can be seen driving Kings Island Drive going past the movie theater.
-
I've seen shows on IoA, CP, SFMM, and Dollywood (ugh), but none on PKI. I think we need to get an online petition going to send to Discovery channel! I mean, PKI is a whole lot bigger than Dollywood!

Several parks do this very thing! The most recent example is Hershey Park. They had a vote on their website for the name of their new coaster for next year (I voted for Renegade). I haven't heard what the winner was, but that just goes to show that parks do look to guests for ideas!
-
As one person already said, dorky it is, but fun it also sounds! [/yoda] I would go! It would be a chance to try some of our chef's cooking!

1. How do you know it was me? You've never seen me before. 2. The guy under the bridge on the right? If you have AIM, IM me!
-
Great idea! Here are my ideas: Jeff Seibert Q&A ERT on Beast or any other coaster Behind the Scenes on FoF (I can give the tour) TRTR, Scooby, and a few other rides. A really cool shirt! That's all I can think of, but get us the date before the season starts so I can request this day off!

This has to be the greatest PKI site EVAR!
