  1. Really, Aaron does a GREAT job on this site. I have been to other websites/forums (coughOHIODDRcough) and they are not nearly as well done as this one. The moderators do a great job, and the articles on the site are very well done. KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!
  2. Flight of Fear crew has four. Our first two was for having a high capacity (riders per hour) and the other two were for good Guest Relations comments (wanna help my crew out? Visit my ride and then visit Guest Relations and give us a good report! j/k)
  3. I agree with the earlier comment and that it is not the performers fault. I can tell that the performers put alot of time into it, but the shows are just put together poorly.
  4. CONEY! I love all of the old fashioned flat rides, and it makes you feel like you have gone back in time (not to mention I work in Coney )
  5. Isn't Witches Wheel at CP also a giant Enterprise? I've been on it, and I enjoyed it much, but It looks no different than the one in Wonderland.
  6. Yes, but alot more said they hated it, example: Ive been on this ride a few times and it is dissapionting. The launch is slow and it only goes up about 3/5 of the tower. It has gotten slower over time too. It used to go up higher. Okay, it is fun to go that fast and then go completely vertical like a skater or sumthin. But Xcelerator is much cooler. Besides, it is so loud that everyone who has visited Magic Mountain qualifies as being deaf now. It sort of ruins the park. Six Flags should tear it down and install a monster in it's place like Steel Dragon 2000 to give 6 flags yet another thing to brag about. I was very very disappointed with this ride. With everything that Six Flags says that this is a coaster, I thought it may be pretty good and rode it in the front seat with an open mind. Boy was I wrong! The launch was not intense at all, and I got barely any air-time. The only good thing about this ride was that it was a walk-on! This ride is not fun like a coaster should be, it has no aspects like a roller coaster and should not be considered a roller coaster. Just a few, but alot of them go along this lines. "It's too loud, too short, not intense."
  7. I have been to both parks (as I said in my last post) and did not say the parks suck. I enjoyed my trip to CP, but I felt they only had 2 real great coasters, Raptor and Millie. SFMM also had some amazing rides, Scream is now my fav coaster. I probably would have liked X, but I didn't because I sat in the last seat, on the outside, and didn't know the outside seats bounced around like they did (I was in too much pain to enjoy the ride). I enjoyed almost all of their coasters, but I still did not like Superman. I am also not alone. http://www.themeparkcritic.com/scripts/Vie....asp?RideID=598 Go ahead and read some of the reviews. It has one of the worst ratings of a coaster in this park. I hated how loud it was, especially while waiting for Goliath (a ride which I absolutely loved). So this is what I am trying to say, SFMM has amazing coasters, but customer service sucks and a few rides are horrible (Superman, Colossus (which one side is rotting away, and very little air time)), while CP has great customer service and a few great rides (Millie, Raptor), but the rest are bad (Mean Streak, Iron Dragon). I like PKI because they have good rides (even though I must say not all are good), and good customer service, right in the middle. Also, I noticed that several SFMM rides seemed to be falling apart. Flashback wasn't even open, and it didn't look like it had been running in a long time. Colossus only had one side opened, and I saw the trains for the other side, and they were all falling apart, much like the track was. It was all town apart. Just two examples, but they do not take care of their coasters, which makes me sad
  8. Exactly! I took a trip to SFMM this summer, and I was impressed by their rides, but other than that I hated the experience. Superman was one of the most boring ride I had ever been on. You go fast, so what. I must admit, Scream is the best ride I have ever been on in my life, but two facts show park's flaws: 1. It's a clone. They put in a ride that people can ride at many other parks just to keep up their coaster count. I must admit, they cloned an amazing ride, but it's still a clone, not even the original. 2. Its a "Parking-lot Coaster". Don't know what I'm talking about? Look here: http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery216....htm?Picture=19 Look, you can even still see the lines in the ride area. They just stuck it in the middle of their parking lot. Whoever says there is no coaster race between CP and SFMM is full of it. I mean, TTD just goes really fast, really high, and thats it. I'm glad PKI didn't go the way SFMM and CP went, but PKI does need a new coaster.
  9. Um... what are you talking about? I don't think they ever made a statement to that effect, and even if they did, it doesn't mean they won't build any new coasters!
  10. They started selling ORP's on FoF again. I am glad, because I consider that ride to have the best ORP's!
  11. um... they're called magnetic braking systems for a reason... THEY'RE MAGNETS!!! They can't fail! Even if the ride loses power, it won't fail. There was a show on TV once that showed how they work, something about the amount of copper in the brakes determines the speed. It was on the Discovery Channel, and will prolly replay it sometime.
  12. That's what I was saying, if the theming ends up like Top Gun's theming, then take it out. I do like how it's indoors, but I also think it would be cool to change it up a bit, and take it outside! Then you can see the whole world go racing by, instead of just the station (which is why the back seat is the best, you can see the station go whizzing by). Not to mention all of the supports whizzing by! I mean, look at that pic I posted of a FoF clone! Look at all those supports!
  13. Cleanliness is very high up for those higher than us normal ride operators. In Coney Mall, each ride gets a good scrub down every week now, but I must say, the area around the hanger and the load station on the side guests do not go to, does not get cleaned as well as the que line. They try to make the experience better for our guests. And we don't really mind the dust, at least I don't.
  14. I didn't even post that we cleaned it again! Thanks for noticing! This time, I actually did help in the cleaning process (I wasn't working the last time). Everyone on the crew now knows the term "hanger juice".
  15. I say within the next few years, the should overhaul the ride, and take out all of the theming. I mean, look at Top Gun. After awhile, the theming starts looking like crap, and becomes completely worthless. If FoF ever becomes like Gun is now theming wise, they should tear down the building, take out all of the theming, and revamp the line/other parts of the ride for out-doors. I think it would be cool to see the train go through the track. They probably won't do that, but I think it would be cool! And if you wanna see what the FoF track looks like, be happy! There have been several clones made of FoF, and most are outdoors! Here is a link to a pic of one in Texas. http://www.rcdb.com/installationgallery528...8.htm?Picture=1
  16. I saw it before TRSS was up, so thats enchanted theatre. Yes, I agree, the singers and dancers did work alot on it and alot of time was put into it, but once again, its the planning that ruined it. The songs were almost all crappy. Three good songs in the whole show. And two of those songs I thought they ruined with their bad singing. Almost as if they made a person they hired for their dancing sing. I must say, the dancing was great, but the singing could have been better, and song choice could have been MUCH better.
  17. I was at the park with my mom awhile back, and my two cousins and I rode the Eagles while my mom and aunt waited and watched. I snap like crazy (as always) and I get off and she says, "You must be my son, because I used to do that exact same thing when I was younger." Like mother, like son.
  18. When you own it, let me help you improve upon the FoF experience! (I have ideas...) My fav prop in the hanger is what I call, "Practice golf balls in orange juice". They are plastic practice golf balls in a jar with orange colored water (im guessing). I don't know what it's supposed to be, but I get a kick out of it (Its to the left of the saucer, looking right at the saucer).
  19. *raises hand* I WOULD!!!
  20. I just saw TRSS, and it was ok. You can tell that the actors put alot of time and work into this, but the plot / effects were just poor. Especially the punching and kicking sound effects. They sounded like they were from an old batman episode. Cheesy is the word of this show, not bad, just cheesy. Now Vibe on the other hand... the word for that IS bad.
  21. The song "Take the Long Road and Walk It" by The Music. Basically theme it on the music video, and have it dip through allys and fly through a city.
  22. I work at FoF, I will answer, because well... I know the answers. 1. Yes, fog was used in the ride. The had fog machines in the hanger, and they even have the fog machines on in the hanger sometimes this year. In the station, they used to have fog at the start of the launch tunnel, so when you were launched, the train went into the fog and the lights went on (as they do now) so it looked like the train dissappeared into thin air. You can even see the grates where the fog came out around the start of the tunnel. Also, there used to be fog machines in the saucer, and you can also see the grates along the ceiling there also. 2. The ball never moved, but I heard that when the ride first premiered, they had it set so that when the train was launched out of the station, all of the lights went out and the red light on the ball lit up VERY brightly, so that all you could see was the red light. Not sure about this one, but this is just was I was told by a supervisor. 3. Theming added / changed? Probably. They changed the movie in the hanger about 2-3 years ago, also changed the sign right in front of The Racer when the name changed from OL:FoF to just FoF. Other theming might have been changed, but I doubt it. And about the mannequins in the pods, people say they are aliens, but if you look closely, they are supposed to be humans. One has an old PKI shirt on, and one even has a pink doll in her hands. We call them the hybrids, and say that the aliens take the riders, and create alien/human hybrids from our riders. Well, used to at least . This has been your FoF history lesson for today, enjoy!
  23. That would be a great idea! "Ghosts of Paramount's Kings Island". I have a book called "Famous Ghosts of Chicago" that I bought while I was in Chicago, and I wonder if PKI could get a ghost book of it's own!
  24. I've seen his office, but never seen him. I am always on the lookout for him though, and hope to meet him sometime this year. PS: I love the Unofficial Guidebook to PKI! It's my "Little Blue Book"!
  25. One song I like to hear in the park is the Beetlejuice theme. I've only heard it in the park once, but I would love to hear it played there more!
