Intamin track spotted on 275 today!
cewldre replied to YoungStud's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Where did you find this quote? And if it is true, it is not that big of a deal. Both TTD ans MF both had a price tag of $25 million which so far has been the highest price ride built for any CF park. You can build a really great coaster for $19 million. But if CF is going to continue Paramount's direction of more family rides, it is a moot point anyway. I saw the same quote in one of the many reportings... I dont recall which as I visited almost every financial and news site to see what each one was saying about the deal. It read "No park will receive a capital investment over $20 million in the next year," or something to that effect. -
To me, it would seem more likely that the more modern of characters will get the roaming privliges, but we could very well see snoopy hanging around too. I know the Nick license is for four years, but I am willing to bet that it would be a wise business decision for them to extend the contract once the time comes.

avatar, there are a lot of factors that go into the park closing. I would not be able to explain them all here, but you could PM me if you really wanted to know.

so, I guess we're not counting the fact that the super star search karaoke is now being performed daily?

CEDAR POINT 07'
cewldre replied to The New England Snapper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
the pic of the aquatrax klockster showed were 3 point though, well, for the most part, but parts were 4 point, just like MF. Have you ever noticed that? Just before the last turn it's 3 point, the turn is 4 point, then it's 2 point track, all right there by the queus. It does go over the lake, well, that's where some footers are, but a lot of it is over the back part of the peninsula they have. -

well, I am not 100% sure the pics of the track go with the large amount of footers they're installing, but I am pretty sure they do. Yes, the park has construction going on in the back, around the back of their white water canyon type ride, around the eatery and near the station of Mean Streak. I was just there and saw the work in progress. -

I will be going up at the end of the week and will try and see what I might be able to decipher. -
There's some access roads back there, for all them maintenance folk.
-
actually, I encourage people to buy their ticket early and then come back any time they want... oh, and I do encourage all my associates to do the same. Judging by your name, you might know me, or you probably should, if you are in games as the name implies.
-
They are both good. What time of day do you plan on going?
-
you are only partially right, stand. Employees can be off the clock and in their uniforms, but they should not be in line for a ride in their uniform, nor should they be allowed to ride if they do make it to the front of the line. Any employee in uniform should do just that, wear their uniform, and wear it properly. They are not supposed to be walking around, shirt untucked, etc... If they are walking around off the clock, in uniform, they should not be riding rides and should not turn guests away who have questions. If they don't want to be "bothered" or ride something, they need to change their shirt.

New Aerial Shots of Paramounts Kings Island!
cewldre replied to Dane's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
yes, the pics look great. Thanks. ^ yeah, he's got 10 posts and I think they all say "meow" -
I agree with you chef... I mean, it still could be Cedar Fair, or Busch, but I think, in the end, it will be private investors overall.
-
way, 6-8 weeks, that would put it just about the end of June... which is what I had been saying from the beginning. Oh well. I need to say this, I know there are a few out there who are trying to get rid of Paramount, or want them to go... Well, it's going down right now... Let's hope we are left in good hands when it's time to move on.
-
See, and I would take out Action Zone and Theme the Entire Area To Oktoberfest in a celebration of Cincinnati's Heritage and History. right, you can't take out Oktoberfest, it's part of the people who frequent the park most. Cincinnatians have a large amount of German Heritage.

So I'm thinking the Cartoon Network is broadcasting to No One? do you recognize a CN show? Seriously, kids watch CN, yes, but who are the memorable characters... Spongebob, mainly. A few others too. CN has some shows, but they are always changing. The only thing I can think of that has been around for a little while might be pokemon or yu-gi-oh, but both those are on their way out.

I guess you don't remember what entertainment used to be like at the park. Big Sigh! That doesn't just make me sigh! I'm having chest pain! I think if we would drop Ringmaster into the park in say "1982" his head would just explode with the diversity and quality of shows that were in ever part of the park and at least two or three shows going on every hour from 11am to 9pm. OH SO TRUE! It is amazing how the people that were born after 1985 don't know pre-paramount Kings Island. If they did, they would so understand! -adam12 and I do understand, been there before the park was bought, many a time... Like I said, I remember the shows, and the bands walking around, etc... It is sad that they went, but the rest of the park looks great because of what Paramount can offer. Like I have said, HB is, sadly, dead. No kid today knows those characters. It's all Nickelodeon all the way now and we are keeping up with the times. As it has been said, The Times they are a changing... Frankly, you need to move with them.
-
adam, we don't know who the new owners are, yet. Maybe it will be Busch, but then you would have to complain, they're a corporation. It could be Cedar Fair, but wait, that's a corporation... etc... you see my point? We may or may not get a private investor to buy the parks, and even if we do, buying all the parks would be going into a corporation, just like KECO was. Oh, don't get me wrong, they did well, but so has Paramount. Yes, the shows and such have gone downhill. Yes, I do remember the times of shows all the time, the clown band, the german band, etc... It is sad that we don't have them, but don't play down how the park looks now. Frankly, I like the way the park looks, as do many others.

how long ago was this?? They used to use them for the blue and white stars you would see on nametags... but that was years ago. I believe it was 5 years ago that they stopped doing that. A good time may be expected, but that does not mean you shouldnt say something. Let's say you had a merely average, or ok, time, you wouldnt say something. However, you said above that it would then be assumed the job was good, and would never improve. I wouldn't go out of my way to make a point to note to a manager someone who is doing average work. Now, if there truly is good work being done, let someone know so that they will tell others about it. Good work is expected, but unless people know what is good, because someone tells them, they might settle for adequate. It's sad, but it's true...
-
That is not it at all... Here's the facts, people remember bad experiences much more than they remember good. They also report bad more than good. When was the last time you asked a waiter or waitress to see the manager because you wanted to report how GOOD they were doing... Happens rarely. I think I have done it twice in 23 years on this planet... People always rememeber bad and report bad more often. It's sad, but it's true. One experience can make or break a persons thought on anything. First impressions are everything.

this is a pki fansite... I am referring to the site and pki as a sum... you guys complain about the park, yet you are posting on a FANSITE.. Yes, we... you, me, the rest of the folk here, the park itself...
-
This I realize... I was using the numbers as mere references. We have a greatly visited park here at PKI, something must be right. Again, you don't have the worlds best kids area every single year the award has been issued if you aren't doing something right. Sure, we don't win best park overall, Cedar Point takes that, but they are going for high thrills where we're going for the family rides... Yes, prices are on the rides, but you can't solely blame that on Paramount. Gone to get gas in a car? Nearly $3 a gallon... Prices are on the rise everywhere... It's possible that Paramount raised prices higher than they should have, but they are not the sole reason prices are going up. Oh, and you can say then why did Cedar Point lower prices, but frankly, we're not there, we don't know what the motivation truly was.
-
I have enjoyed being with the Paramount name... you can say all you want about getting rid of them and getting rid of them fast, but they have done some good things. Sadly, despite what we all may think, HB is not what kids watch today... sure, scooby is still around and I definitely grew up watching that stuff, but Spongebob, Dora, Danny Phantom, etc... is what kids watch nowadays. I know, it's hard for us older "kids" but it was a necessary change to keep with the times. Yes, kids still know of Fred and Gang, but they are starting to refernce them as what mom and dad used to watch and nothing more. (yes, those character are getting old, sadly) For those who don't think they have made improvements, I can't quite fathom how a park wins the World's Best Kid's Area every single year the award has been up for grabs. We have one every single year since the awards beginning. Also, for the facts on attendance the numbers PKI was 16th last year, 3.3 million visitors. Notice, the top 12 or so are year round parks, so we are among the best seasonal parks. We are behind a sister park, which we were ahead of in 2004 to be the #1 most visited seasonal park. Paramount has it's flaws, as does every company, but I think they took care of us well, but I still look forward to see what new oweners will bring.
-
yes, very nice job flight... I was amazed how much faster our rides were this year than last... lol... Also, you're busted... There was a Delirium shot from 2005 shown in a video claimed to be shot in 2006. The lader in Action Zone is no longer there, cornhole is there now. Only the ladder climb in Oktoberfest remains. It was still a great movie.

yes, those beer are carpenter bees and they like the wood over in that area, since the benches and the bubba dock is all wood. They like that area. And yes, the park does spray, see them do it, but they keep coming. Bees, that is.
