  1. Nah... It is Giga stand up launch wooden wild mouse.
  2. This is the exact sentiment I have. My favorite at CP is Magnum followed by Maverick. To me, the golden standard for Intamin coaster is Bizarro (Superman Ride of Steel) at SFNE. This coaster is 221 feet tall but has far more airtime, lateral and intensity than MF. Many people were hoping MF was a taller version of the best coaster at that time. Frankly, many coaster enthusiasts were somewhat disappointed. MF has a great first drop with very good view. Rest of the ride does not do much. Only if MF and Maverick can be combined....
  3. RMC wooden coaster I have been on are Outlaw Run and Goliath. I found them to be very smooth. Some GCIs I have been on were not very good such as Gwazi, Wildcat and Roar. However, I absolutely love Thunderhead, Renegade, Prowler and Lightning Racer. I found RMC woodies to be very short though. I actually prefer GCI because they feel more like traditional wooden coasters.
  4. KI was far more cutting edge before Cedar Fair with Bat, Flight of Fear, King Cobra, Son of Beast, Beast, and Racer. These all were first of their kinds.
  5. Well, Steel Dragon was $38 million in cost in 2000. In Japan, earthquake proof construction is required so that the coasters are far more costly. As for Six Flags, they had financial problems which resulted in bankruptcy. Kingda Ka really did not have the financial windfall they were hoping for either. Frankly, Cedar Fair hoped for more from Fury 325 but Giga coasters really cater to a small group of people. Park industry is there to make money, not just build coasters.
  6. I feel that MF has a fantastic first drop.... Rest of the ride is just speed with 3 small air time hills. There is not much to the ride and not particularly intense whereas Fury has 4 serious lateral hills with 4 intense air time hills. The pacing of MF is better because there are no real change in direction. Here are my steel coaster list to #20: 1. Bizarro (SFNE) - Superman Ride of Steel 2. Fury 325 3. Levianthan 4. Intimidator 305 5. Skyrush 6. Diamondback 7. Intimidator 8. Behemoth 9. Magnum XL-200 10. X2 11. Maverick 12. Banshee 13. Apollo's Chariot 14. Volcano 15. Tatsu 16. Goliath (SFMM) 17. Millennium Force 18. Talon 19. Alpengeist 20. Eagle Fortress (RIP)
  7. I go to Carowinds a lot. Intimidator is good but not as forceful as Diamondback. I love Fury 325. Fury is #2 steel coaster in my list. MF is #17. One of the biggest issue at Carowinds is the service there. I actually find them somewhat poor unlike KI or CP. I actually complained to CF last year due to some of the employees being rude.
  8. Very nice coaster but short. I timed it at whopping 1 minute and 45 seconds including lift hill and block brake. Great air time and very nice inverted stretch. It is a capacity nightmare though. On the opening day, I was on a third train for the day. After I got off the ride, the line was well over 4 hours. I prefer Outlaw Run over Goliath at GFGAm. Outlaw Run felt more like a complete coaster experience. Somehow, Goliath felt something was missing. It may be due to how short the ride was.
  9. Sounds like you prefer gigas to inverts as well. Yes, I do. Only giga that I have not been on is Steel Dragon 2000. Fury 325 is my favorite giga. Millennium Force is my least favorite giga. I have been on 16 B&M inverts. Banshee is my favorite. Great Bear is my least favorite.
  10. Banshee is my favorite B&M invert over Talon and Alpengeist. Over all, Banshee is my 11th favorite steel coaster. A relentless twists all throughout and the twist drop is very unique in B&M coasters in the US.
  11. Tsunami coaster at M&D Amusement Park derailed and injured at least 10. http://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/10-children-adults-hurt-after-roller-coaster-plummets-in-scotland/ar-AAhE1gQ
  12. It's not my favorite coaster at CP. Not even close. Give me Wicked Twister and Blue Streak all day and I'll be happy.I could live without Millennium Force on a trip up north. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G920A using Tapatalk I feel the same. MF is my third favorite at CP after Magnum and Maverick. I still like MF first drop but the rest of the ride is just so so. I can ride Magnum and Maverick all day.
  13. It has been a while since I posted. I see so many people hoping for Winged or Dive coasters as well as wooden and Giga. I would like a giga since they are far more intense. Winged and Dive coasters really do not do much for me. I do love wooden coasters though.
  14. Gerstlauer trains are similar even on this ride at Mall of America. http://www.coastercommunity.com/photos/index.php/Parks/moa/SpongeBob-SquarePants-Rock-Bottom-Plunge5 I am sure that this incident will change many of the future ride. It is always sad to see something like this happens. As an enthusiast and an engineer, the community learns from this whatever the cause may have been.
  15. Sad. They have been doing quite a bit of work on this coaster over the years. I guess I need to ride this sometime this year.
  16. I have not been on the ride this year with lights on. Have you been to SFA or SFFT? They have outdoor versions of Flight of Fear (Joker's Jinx and Poltergeist). They do not have mid course brake. You may really like those. They look somewhat like Borg Spheres for you Star Trek fans.
  17. Out of nearly 400 coaster, I prefer front on 8 coasters. Generally, I prefer the back on B&M and Intamin hyper/giga coasters. For wooden coasters, I prefer middle seats on the back train if there are 3 rows. Same with Arrow hypers. I prefer outside back for winged, stand up, flying, floorless, and Inverts. I prefer front on Intamin launch shuttles, Volcano, Back Lot Stunt Coaster, and Shivering Timbers.
  18. Great report. I may see you theree some time. I always thought that SFGAm is a park without a great coaster. There are few good coasters such as Raging Bull, Viper and Whizzer. Goliath is another good but really short coaster. My favorite is still Viper. The Batman backwards was really neat 2 years ago. BTW, it was nice to hear that there was only 15 minute wait for Goliath. I thought this was going to be a capacity nightmare.
  19. I always enjoyed 6-2 the most. This is a far smoother than 6-1 or any 3s. One day in 2005, I rode on every single seat. I rode it 38 times that day. I loved 6-2 (both) more than any other seat.Mr. Coastermania, you can look at the signature for wooden and steel coaster list. Thanks.
  20. I was on a trip from Michigan to Columbus on 5/19/15. I had around 5 hours to spare so that I decided to make a detour to visit Cedar Point. Since the park has a "new" ride in Rougarou, I wanted to take a spin on this floorless coaster. Also, Maverick has a new restraint system! The new system is identical to the ones on Intimidator 305. Knowing that I-305 restraint system improved the ride experience greatly, I wanted to ride this coaster again. Of course, Millennium Force and Magnum are always good rides. Rougarou - Well, it is a great improvement from Mantis. I am not sure if that is saying much. To me, Cedar Fair has 2 better floorless coasters in the chain: Dominator and Hydra. Millennium Force - OK. I know this is a highly rated coaster and still one of my top 20 favorite coaster. However, this coaster ride today felt really tame. I hope, sincerely hope that it was due to the day being rather cold. I rode on the last seat as usual. I loved the first drop as always. Also, the speed and tracking was decent. The coaster is getting somewhat shaky, however. The 3 air time hills did not feel much. I rode Intimidator and Fury 325 on Friday. I rode Diamondback 4 times this weekend. I rode Intimidator 305 6 times in April. They all have much better air time than MF. Being an air time and lateral fan, MF will not ever compare to these coasters for me. I will still ride MF every time I visit CP, but I still prefer Magnum and Maverick over MF. Maverick - YES!!!!!!!!!!!! The change of the restraint system made this coaster that much better. It was identical to I-305 restraint system and was soooooooooooooo much more comfortable. The air time, lateral, and great tracking make this coaster one of its kind. Magnum - Good old Magnum. This has been my favorite coaster at CP for over 25 years. I got on 6-2. This is by far the best seat on the coaster. The speed, airtime, and lateral make this coaster great. This is still my favorite coaster view over looking lake Erie beaches. It is so satisfying coaster. I stopped counting a long time ago, but I know this is my second most ridden coaster (Diamondback). Overall, good little visit. It was in the mid 50's but the park was somewhat busy for May weekday. I want to comeback to ride all them when the weather turns warm and have little more time. 11. Maverick 12. Banshee 13. Nitro 14. Volcano 15. Millennium Force 16. Goliath (SFMM) 17. Apollo's Chariot 18. Talon 19. Apengeist 20. Tatsu
  21. More than likely, it will be winged or drop (?) coaster? A drop coaster may be dismissed as a copy of Griffon at BGE by the locals though. I-305 is lateral force and speed machine although there are 3 air time hills that are also really intense as well. Out of 4 giga coasters I have been on, I-305 is by far the most forceful.
  22. You can also check out Lego Land. My kids loved it when we went there in 2000. DC, San Francisco, New Orleans, and New York blocks built with Legos. Those were really nice.
  23. Wisconsin Dells is a way to go. It is about 3 hours + to go to Mall of America and Valleyfair! If you visit Minneapolis, also visit Fort McCoy near Tomah, WI. It is a nice treat. Valleyfair! is not what I would call a must visit park, but Wild Thing and Renegade are quite enjoyable. Visiting Mall of America is good. Some of the flats at Mall of America are really good. There is a Gerstlauer coaster called "Rock Bottom Plunge" I liked. Like Interpreter said, Mt Olympus is a better park for coaster fans. They have 4 really nice wooden coasters. I love Hade 360 and Zeus. They have fantastic air time. I even like Pegasus. Opa is a spinning wild mouse that I did not care about. Do not for get to go ride Avalanche at Timberfalls around the corner from Mt Olympus. This is another good wooden coaster.
