  1. I rode Verbolten earlier this year. It was a unique ride with sudden drop in the middle. The last drop was exactly like the Big Bad Wolf second drop.
  2. Cadillac is known for those issues.
  3. Or is she Maria Larosa who is on Weather Channel. She used to be on channel 19 in Cincinnati.
  4. Wing Coasters are even less forceful than floorless coasters. I have benn on Wild Eagle, X-flight and Gatekeeper. They really do not have much intensity. Afterburn or Talon are way more forceful.
  5. Nice report. Like the Interpreter said, crew rating was nice. Afterburn and Intimidator are definte must ride at Carowinds. I will try to get there next week.
  6. I finally got to ride Gatekeeper on 5/24/13. It was really windy and cold! High temperature was going to be 44oF! Was this Memorial Day weekend? Most of the rides were not open during early ride hour due to wind. It was not until 10:30 AM before any test trains were dispatched on Gatekeeper. As soon as testing began, the line started to form. The ride opened around 11:00 AM. By this time, the line was around 1 hour long. CP was running 2 trains. I rode on back left seat. The initial flip, drop and loop were somewhat like Tatsu. Rest of the ride was quite a bit like Wild Eagle at Dollywood. This was slightly more intense than Wild Eagle or X-Flight (SFGAm) although that is not saying much. These B&M wing coasters really lack intensity. There were some airtime areas that are similar to flying coasters with less intensity Gatekeeper is a nice addition to CP. Without question, this is the best B&M wing coaster in the US. However, this is not a must ride at CP for me unless the wait is not long.
  7. Answer is yes. Whatever "lately" means.... Looking for "hints" in all the wrong places....
  8. For the most part, no... but Tatsu has inversions and eventually drops 263 feet. How about Sheikra and Griffon? They do not have 200 feet drop but they are over 200 feet tall.
  9. It is. So is just about everything else in Canada's Wonderland.
  10. Another stupid guess: Inverted launch Giga woodie BTW, Leviathan is by far the best B&M I have been on. I agree with people that the ride could have been longer, but how expensive can that be? I love the drop into the tunnel. The head choppers and twists are quite enjoyable.
  11. One thing people assume here is that Behemoth and Leviathan are virtually the same except different heights. That is totally untrue. It is similar to comparing Superman the Ride (SFA or Darien Lake) to Intimidator 305. Both are Intamin rides but provide much different ride experiences. Having said that Kings Dominion got Intimidator 305 in 2010 which is Intamin. Since 2007, CF steel coaster installations 2007 Maverick (Intamin), Sierra Sidewinder (Mack) 2008 Behemoth (B&M) 2009 Diamondback (B&M) 2010 Intimidator (B&M), Intimidator 305 (Intamin) 2011 (none?) 2012 Leviathan (B&M) 2013 Gatekeeper (B&M) 2014 at KI and KBF I guess we will see how these turn out.
  12. I enjoyed Adventure Mountain. They never had entire sections open when I was there though.
  13. It is sad to think that Son of Beast is almost completely gone. It was not long ago that I saw this ride featured on Travel Channel as one of the Mega structures in the world. There were some design flaws but the first big hill, the view, the drop, and thr loop will not be forgotten. With floorless and invert coasters being yesterday's designs, I would guess B&M giga twister is in the works? If not, a winged coaster may take SoB's place although winged coasters have been rather forceless.
  14. If they do rebuilt, I will try to make out there next year to support them.
  15. Nickelodeon Universe Dollywood Carowinds Kings Island Canada's Wonderland Indiana Beach Lakemont Del Grosso Hershey Park Knoebels Conneaut Lake Park Cedar Point Martin's Fantasy Island Bay Beach Amusement Park Six Flags Magic Mountain Knott's Berry Farm Six Flags Great America Best new coasters: Leviathan and Skyrush
  16. No one will open KK and expand unless they can own the land. Why would anyone deal with the fair board?
  17. Arrow loopers are all around. Vortex, Anaconda, Viper (SFMM), Tennessee Tornado, Loch Ness Monster, Fantasia, Rolling X Train, Ninja (SFOG), Demon (SFGAm)????? I am not sure what you meant by mega looper. Viper at SFMM is nothing special.
  18. I know there are some companies do this although even at BK or McD were hiring at $8.00 when the minimum wage was $3.35 for a long time. There are debates of this type everywhere and both sides have valid points. Most companies have fixed budget for payroll for a year. Right or wrong, some people will miss out because another people get higher wages. I guess this is a debate between individual and macroeconomics. There is no right answer.
  19. I always wonder if minimum wage helps or hurts these employees. People who get paid obviously get boosts in pay, but the businesses may hire less people to do the jobs. I know that virtually all of the jobs pay more than minimum wages anyway. Overall, this will not help the tax base as much as governments claim.
  20. Nothing but bankruptcy and environmental disaster will rise for Cedar Fair if these chemically treated woods burn.
  21. You will need some fire wood, not pressure treated lumber.
  22. I got stuck on: The Beast lift hill (~30 minutes) Son of Beast midcourse (15 minutes) Italian Jobs - roll back and stuck after the launch (15 minutes) Diamondback Adventure Express Backward Racer My worst one was during ERT at Dollywood with Blazing Fury. We had to walk down from the ride after 30 minutes.
