without getting in depth too much- the Circus show IS very inappropriate for kids. Wait about 15 years when you have young kids, daughters particularly, and try to sit while several 18-24 year old girls are scantily dressed dancing seductively on stage at a family attraction. By your post, I'm guessing your a mid-teen boy. not surprised you liked the dancing; I would have too at that age. When half their audience is kids, I'm not sure who they're dancing for.

just came from a date night with my wife... no kids. I don't think I have seen the parking lot that full in a while. We were there from 8-midnight. 2 (two) rides, one of which was Adventure Express, which I must say- I think is the best "themed" ride there now. Playing the Raiders of the Lost Ark theme in the line was a nice touch... didn't know they could do that. Idea! Someone needs to develop an app that chronicles wait times for rides and attractions. Disney World has one of those... and it was THE most useful tool while there. Kings Island has an app- but between us girls... it's pretty useless. something that people can check their phones for wait times would be GREAT. we need to get some 10-year old on that!

I just meant if it part of it was standing in 2013. Nobody knows how long or how short of a time period it will take to remove Son of Beast except park management. Money will control most of that. I am guessing it is at least 1 million if not more, to have the ride taken down. Thats a chunk to eat for something to be removed. Things always come down faster than when they are built. I am guessing before Christmas it will be gone. Hope someone has a good idea for all that lumber. Huge cost just sitting there. Here's hoping to them using most of it for a new wood coaster that works right! some gasoline and a set of matches and I'll have it down in hours. and will do it for a fraction of a million. Say, $100k. Of course it may bring some other things down with it.

... that was me. I believe my family was in that end of the park when I saw a group of people "not dressed like park patrons", if you know what I mean. They were over by the race cars looking at SOB and making hand gestures. Wanted to hear what they were talking about, but not trying to be obvious. I didn't move, but on their way back (and they weren't being quiet or secretive about it)- one of them said, "well, we have a few months before that announcement is made." Someone mentioned above that they thought it would be a few years before something is in there. My guess is that they have known this outcome for some time, and were keeping it up until they had a plan ready for the area. If I were a betting man, I'd say that the area will be an ongoing project for the park in a new area with a first phase opening of 2014.

WAIT A MINUTE! Is this the "classic" coaster being rumored to be moved to Coney Island? Dwight K Schrute called it first!
-
i think i'm going to fall over from that surprise. Honestly. If you didn't expect this you were obviously on another planet with your fingers in your ears, eyes closed, and facing the opposite direction. It was going to stand until park officials had a plan. Look for another announcement regarding said future expansion... let's start a thread on that!

The Beach Waterpark Redesign Thread
Outdoor Man replied to Coney Islander's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
a mini golf place and a water park isn't exactly an apple's to apple's comparison. It will be nice for the Beach to get some "new-ness" to it. I'm not sure when the last new attraction added was. My family and I went there last summer and.... it was getting a bit, shall we say, stale. there were some areas of the park that smelled that way too. I think Adventure Holdings made a "class" move by saying they'd honor the 2012 season passes... i can't help but think that may hurt them significantly financially in the first year though. -
"When I'm about to do something I ask, 'would an idiot do this?'- and if they would, I do not do that thing." -Dwight K. Schrute

In regards to Geauga Lake's RWB coaster. Meh... it was a lackluster coaster to begin with. One would have to wonder why it is being dismantled as opposed to knocked down though. A replica of Shooting Star would cinch a big response.

the image on the email is surely just clipart relative to Christmas that park has of their own... and doesn't have to pay a third party for. However, with a new CEO at the helm I could see it as a future consideration- very doubtful that December 2012 would qualify as "future" though (i have been wrong before though).

Neutral Land: no theme created. They haven't done the best job keeping with their "area" theming for about 20-25 years.

i still find myself calling Boo Blasters, Enchanted Voyage... and great pumpkin coaster, the Enchanted Voyage line queue

yea, I caught that right after I hit "post" I like the echo effect...

OK, go ahead and say it will never happen, BUT- in 2005, prior to the CF purchase, if not mistaken FOF was scheduled to make one of the Paramount ride swaps. Wasn't Kings Dominion's FOF shut down in preparation for it? oops, Browntggrr- beat me to it. D'oh!

good TR. was there with my girls tonight also- nearly entire night spent in Snoopy Land as usual.

Wow, the topic Nazi's are in full swing tonight. Welcome to the Forums "the Racing Racer" (if that is your real name)... Only issue I have with this thread is awful spelling; the forums have a spell-check feature (though not a teacher I have a huge hang up on spelling, the social media age doesn't help either. Every time I see someone use "ur", "lol", etc... their perceived IQ is lowered). I digress. three improvements for 2013: 1) Demolition of the pile of wood on the north end of the park and announce its replacement(s) for 2014 2) RiverTown-themed, family-oriented dark ride in the former Crypt building. 3) refurbish the Carousel building/shelter. not necessarily the horses- but everything else. something coming soon that will cost a fortune and won't add a ride to the park- the parking lot is going to need to be resurfaced soon. At $12 a car, they may be saving their pennies already for that.

want to know how much they own? http://www.co.warren...R+BY+Owner_Name done in literally 2 minutes. oddly enough, not titled in the name of Cedar Fair, but Kings Island Company... interesting.
-
i'm going to put a vote behind this one and build on it by saying i'll bet the demise is announced along with a 2014 attraction in the coming weeks- also with the announcement that for 2013 a new dark ride that may have a family tilt to it in the former Crypt building.

Drop Tower has been operating for the past few weeks. It's been up and down. that's what I was referring to. It operates but seems to have more up/down issues than it used to. I mean, it was hit (by Doc Brown's estimate) 1.21 gigawatts of electricity... enough to send a person backward and forward in time- it's likely that they are band-aiding it to get through the season to do some tune-up work in the off season.
-
to someone's comment about Drop Tower's recent down time... If not mistaken, it got fried pretty good when it it got zapped by lightning a few months back. As for Vortex, they sometimes leave a train on the hill when they have shut down for the night sometimes haven't they?

the era of giga coasters... that ship has sailed; as has rumors about them.
-
i think i read about it being removed shortly after posting that. to the disney duplications: just using parks in the US. How many Tower of Terrors are there?: Two, and they're approximately 2500 miles apart on opposite coasts. Space Mountains: two. Small World: two. How many WindSeekers are there east of the Mississippi? Five. Dinosaurs Alive attractions east of the Mississippi: five. Vekoma Flying Dutchman Coasters cincinnati and east: three. That list goes on. Outside of Dinosaur's Alive- none of them are themed at all. Though Dinosaur's Alive is an intriguing attraction, I've been through it once and can't see myself paying the upcharge to do it again.

Back in the 90's when the whole "goth" thing was taking off I saw two girls walking around in black clothes- pretty much from shoulder to toe. Which in an of itself wasn't too odd. Fun fact that day, it was easily 95 degrees with about 99% humidity. Now for the odd part of it. Girl #1 had a "spike'ish" necklace on, with a small chain that looked like a leash that went to a similar spike'ish bracelet on girl #2's wrist. I had a pictures of it up until about 2 house moves ago- I went up to them (I was a little more brash in my youth) and asked them- "can I take a picture of this, because when I go to tell my friends about this they are never going to believe me." Result: choice words and two birds.

went there today. the water park is very nice. the improvements over last year are good and useful. that being said, it doesn't fit the hype it spurned. Wasn't it supposed to have doubled in size? If its doubled from years past, i'll give you a crisp George Washington dollar bill. Action River is OK- though from the marketing of it I was expecting water park white water tubing. I think they added an entrance, removed another, and added a bunch of water lines to squirt yo in the face. It reminds me of the year that they were building DB, 2008- if not mistaken there wasn't anything new that year and the marketing engines shifted into high gear touting that the "Backward Racer" was being turned around so that it would be more like it was... thereby getting back to the original feel of the park. Everything was to be geared towards that... meanwhile they drained Swan Lake (is that what it was called?). Either way, the water park is a great asset. i have no complaints for the most part. working as a Marketing consultant for several types of widgets, its intriguing to see how hyped up the message was over what was essentially new paint, a new entrance, a new wave pool, and a BUNCH of new tubes.
