GOCC Holiday Party at KI on 12/10/11
doesn't really have anything to do with the topic, but I saw the picture and it reminded me of a question I had- maybe someone can speak to it. The "log house" on the train ride- in a random conversation I had with someone- not really sure how they were affiliated with the park at all- who said that this house was there before Kings Island was built and the park integrated it to the surroundings. I have no reason to think that this is true or false, just curious.

Should KI Bring Back Winterfest For 2012?
this has been discussed to an unhealthy degree. I loved the first run of Winterfest; thought (other than pricing)- Paramount did an outstanding job trying to bring it back- but I don't see it happening. Haunt is too profitable and 30-days isn't enough time to reset the theming for something that large. Now, that said, the new leadership may take a look at it as a way to make the seasonal parks more year-round. I would give a wait-and-see.... but don't hold your breath.

First was Behemoth, than came Diamondback
As far as theming goes- Tomb Raider when it came out was heavily themed and well worth the wait in line- as the line itself was part of the experience. I think theming can work in a seasonal park. Busch Gardens does real well at this too- and the Williamsburg park is seasonal. I only rode WS once. I think it is a nice addition to the coney mall area- though I thought that its location could have been better picked. The thrill factor is being 300 feet with your feet dangling and little holding you in. Other than that- what "thrill" factor were you expecting.

First was Behemoth, than came Diamondback
i think with the Disney guy coming on- CF's days of taller/giga coasters may be waning. As soon as the current regime's "orders" are flushed through I'm guessing that theming may trump shear size. that's just an opinion though. I think the new guy is going to start down the path of what draws people to the Disney parks time after time. I don, however, think that the current real estate that SOB is on is awaiting plans for KI's expansion to tie in the northern parts of the park back to the back reaches of Coney Mall. I think the plan is incomplete- which is why it sits.

The queen of Kings Island
maybe someone can find the manual and get it working again. weren't they pushing that whole "like it used to be" theme at KI a few years ago with the whole "lets turn The Racers back around?"

What do you miss the most about Kings Island this off season?
not listed.... but if KI were open that would mean it would be, on average, 30 degrees warmer.

regarding ADA requirements for Intl. Restaurant- f not mistaken, unless they repurpose the facility for something else, most of the permits can probably be grandfathered in under older regulations. i could be wrong though.

Realistic Off-Season Improvement Ideas
lot of good ideas represented; some new- some repeats (in no particular order): a) Winterfest b paint to Racers c) paint to Flight Deck (and/or better color scheme) d) something.... anything to the former Tower Gardens e) poop or get off the toilet regarding Son of Beast f) restrooms by x-base g) reopen international restaurant h) history museum, with old Coney exhibits i) fix the "band" on the carousel. (hey if some random gift shop on Put in Bay has one that works... certainly a park with millions can have theirs working!)

The Crypt: Gone for 2012!
i think you two were using different routes to come to the same answer. I can't think of his name, but the new guy from Disney, will likely have a new creative team that will design higher themed, less expensive attractions that appeal to a guests senses than "thrill-factor." The Crypt will likely remain until they figure out how to best use the building its in for a new attraction- OR next major repair, whichever comes first. I bet the existing building and line would be part of any new attraction, as I can't imagine that the building itself is obsolete. However, I do think that the crypt, as it is, is toast and is just around until the aforementioned pieces come together.
