  1. thats the one. You mean I backed up traffic on I-75 for hours last night trying to get a good picture of the "ornament" for nothing???????????
  2. took a pair of pictures of the sign. no idea how to post them. any help?
  3. i'll snap a picture next time I go by in the evening. I noticed last year EnterTrainment Junction was selling Christmas decor from the former Cypress Gardens (noticed the supply boxes stamped "Winter Haven, FL"
  4. i couldn't find a thread that was closer to to this particular topic- so I figured I would bring out a topic that had been moth-balled for three years. And NO- I'm not suggesting WinterFest is retunring. Did anyone happen to noticed that the "star tree top" formerly perched atop the Paramount version of the Eiffel Tower Christmas Tree now lights up the side of the EnterTrainment Junction in West Chester?
  5. I am leading a group to GWL in January- with an outstanding rate. If you are interested- i don't care if we know you or not... message me and I'll pass on the details.
  6. if the report is correct they're going to try and put $150 million into it. That's some serious scratch that should be able to produce something(s) worthwhile. I would love if they would, in a sense, leave the "thrill" rides like tall, fast, etc.. roller coasters to places like CF, Six Flags, etc... and do a focus on theming and "special effects."
  7. alright Brown.... Raptor.... make with the pictures!
  8. off topic, but CedarPointer.... really digging the avatar.
  9. intriguing. i can only figure it would not be positioned real well as it regards to population. Middletown would be better suited.... or perhaps a hamlet on the east side of Mason- oh wait, that's already occupied- never mind.
  10. based on April crowds... if i recall correctly, this past April was pretty chilly.
  11. yea... thinking that's pretty late.
  12. looks like long lines for Flight of Fear tonight....
  13. is it just me or does it seem that CF has essentially given up on the Crypt. It is a mere spec of what it was as Tomb Raider. The que line for that was almost worth the wait and made you think you were in line for a ride at Universal Studios Florida (OK maybe that's a stretch).
  14. how is this thread still going? OK- I am going to officially throw my support behind shutting down Haunt. My wife and I went Saturday night (into Sunday morning)- and to be completely honest with you- 2 hour waits for Diamondback at midnight and ANY sort of wait whatsoever for The Racers is completely ridiculous! When I heard someone say that it was a 30-minute wait for The Racers.... we walked for a minute and left. I've been going to KI "regularly" since the late 80's- I've never seen lines like Saturday night. Beliefs about Haunt aside.... it's not going ANYWHERE ANYTIME soon. KI probably makes more money in the month of October from those handful of days than they probably do in a month of regular operation. It has to be the biggest "cash cow" generator for them. Again, we could have cared less about the haunt attractions themselves- but aside from copious amounts of fog (the amount of fog we saw could have caused a 2 hour delay in Kings School district)- we saw two characters/actors the whole time we were there. One was a freak with a giant sized lollipop in Action Zone and a short lady that made the teen girls scream.... by screaming at them (intriguing tactic). Honestly i don't care for the Haunt things myself- but the only problem i had with it was the fact that it was PACKED- didn't see any unruly individuals, nothing really offensive as you walked around. I'm sure I could come up with something if we went into an attraction- but if you have no interest in that- it's EASY to avoid.
  15. are we perhaps bored?
  16. i could be wrong- but I believe that if they were to pin down a specific age that they were targeting it would be the 18-24 crowd- but in that they get an overwhelming quantity of HS students and a fair percentage of 25+. A lot of this thread has been a significant amount of bashing of one person's thoughts (did you know that your thoughts would spawn a 6-page thread Raptor????). If I were a betting person I would say that most (not all) but most of the bashing has come from the 22 and mostly younger crowd. I expect that, you're the age group they're targeting. When I was that age I regularly saw every slasher movie out. Halloween, Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm Street, etc... I loved being scared stiff about those movies, and to be honest when I'm walking up the basement steps of my house now and you can see the rest of the dark room under your steps.... I always tend to quicken my steps because 20 years later I can STILL see that stupid hockey mask in my head. Anyway- as I got older, some of these movies and now attractions come across to me as grotesque and really something that looking back on I should have never been a part of. Not for religious reasons, but because it is........ gross and disrespectful to the human race how they degrade life to bring in a few dollars at the gate. I've said on numerous occasions (and I've even shared this with Guest Relations (and even got a call back, which surprised me) that I can't believe that grown, salaried people sat at a table coming up with some of this stuff and felt some of these were good ideas. I don't particularly have a specific issue with Haunt. To be honest I've never participated (My gripe above was that some of these were VERY present for my (then) three year old at the "family-friendly" times. I can't comment on something I've never visited. My guess is that the park is stacked full of their target audience on the weekends and plastered with HS students, whose parents have no idea what their 13-year olds eyes are taking in. unfortunately some do. I'm 15-20 years past my "blood and gore" infatuation days- it hasn't warped my mind. But just because it hasn't scarred me doesn't mean that it was a "good" thing.
  17. the first picture with the tower in the background is really good. you ought to submit that... it could end up on some publicity pieces...
  18. and with that- i'm off to bed. i will need copious amounts of caffeine to stay awake tomorrow. GO REDS!
  19. lets talk annoying for a moment. anyone get real annoyed by getting accosted by the keyhole photo folks before you have a chance to put your pass back in your wallet at the gate? and to see some real zombies- just "people watch" in any line and see scores of teenagers in line with their friends.... not talking to each other- but having their heads pasted to their phones... .likely texting the person standing beside them....... put the phone in your pocket and enjoy the company.
  20. Pizza...i agree entirely with your comments (as I am enjoying a cold LaRosa's). your first post was just a bit....... loud.
  21. uh- let me go one step further. my last comment was meant to be light hearted towards PizzaBaby's post. Upon second read- you should really tone down your rhetoric. I don't agree with most of Raptor's post- though I don't particularly care for the attractions either- BUT, being a male I have impeccable "tuning out" capabilities. Your reply is a bit demeaning. Raptor seemed to convey his post for the most part respectful. If you have to preface your posts with "*" everywhere to mask your real words and issue massive quantities of "!" and ALL CAPS- you should probably rethink your demeanor, go to bed, and maybe post in the morning.
  22. ok pizzababy, no more caffeine after midnight for you.
  23. agreed DiamondbackCMH... but really- if you want to go and just ride- it is possible to avoid the spooks. something I forgot to mention before.... when it comes to unruly and disrespectful guests- there are a BUNCH of staff and security that need to seriously "grow a pair."
  24. couple of pieces. Haunt is a overwhelmingly huge success from the admission gates. KI/Cedar Fair will "follow the money"- which means it probably won't go anywhere anytime soon. That being said, a lot of the Haunt attractions are simply.... grotesque. I've said before- I can't imagine grown people sitting around a table and saying that some of these things are good ideas. My wife and I went a couple weeks ago on a saturday night- actually we really had no interest in the haunt attractions. We were just without kids and wanted to be somewhere other than "kidland"- other than the standard red lights- we tuned the other stuff out never came across any of the characters during our 4-hour stint. If you want to go and just ride rides... it's possible to steer clear of all of that. Now to what someone else posted- BRING BACK WINTERFEST!.... again.
  25. it got better each time because the parts of your body that got battered and bruised became numb to the pain. wait till you wake up.
