Cedar Fair Cut to Long-Term Buy
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Are you still as optimistic on FUN as you was before? Absolutely... With the shares of Cedar Fair I purchased in 2008 I planned on holding them for 2 years roughly. That was my estimate for Cedar Fair shares to basically double at the price I purchased it at. Like has been stated by numerous sources this possible dividend cut should have been seen or atleast expected to be happening soon. -

Slightly off topic, but Terpy I think the hidden gem at KD is Grizzly -

True, a fun ride, even with the roughness. Although I think Hurling at KD is better than Carowinds. -

Yes the chain is already installed on the lift. You can see it plain as day in this picture. -

Good question. More than likely will load them on to the transfer track and then use it to load them on to the actual track for testing. -
I know from ridding Griffon, which uses the same scoops and splash down effect as DB, after you hit the splashdown depending on wind you might get a misting because the track curves to the back side of the splashdown. I dont see Diamondback having this issues because the track continues in to the brake run and then under cover to the station.

^ Currently lifting the the last track piece #129 in to place or preparing it to be lifted in to place. The webcam has been fuzzing out so we are all guessing at the status from the few glimpses we have seen. -

Just guessing about track height above the midway, but we know the pullout of the first drop is roughly 15 feet or so above the midway, so I would expect that to be as close to the midway as any of the track comes. Seems like a reassonable amount of clearance, plus we don't know how the park will transform the midway with gardens, paths and fences. Im sure it would require a great deal of effort to get dangerously close to the Diamondback track. -

Will the impending creeping white death impeed track piece #129 from being lifted in to place today? Stay tunned to the Diamondback construction webcam to find out. Looks like the cranes are still manuvering around the drop section in to the splash, I see no action by #129 yet. Very excited to see DB completed today. Hopefully... -
Dow Jones Newswire Should be interesting to see what happens, although makes sense to cut the dividend to free up cash to pay down on outstanding debt. Also I would be surprised if we didnt see major buying by CF executives at these prices, like we saw last week with the major bank CEO's. Even more impressive was that CF made the investment they did in KI this year.

That line was insane.

Yes Sorry Terpy couldn't help from stealing your line Seriously though, I would imagine just a few folks watching probably some from this site and other media outlets. The final piece will more than likely have a banner from Adena and an American flag flying on it when it goes in. -
Insane new flat ride at Tivoli
RailRider replied to gigacoaster2k's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That is insane looking. The speed making the large loop was intense. -
Before that works at KI they need more choices and especially sit down options. No more Chik Fila or Subway, but unique places found inside the park. Wings sorely needs an overhaul and I think the Festhaus could use some TLC as well.

Awesome new pictures. I cant wait to see the layout unfold as I take my first ride when the train crests the lift. Will be an awesome moment. -
I know some have mentioned those could be nets on the side of Diamondback track, but as of now those are only on the lift track and I am not sure how that would have made it in to the picture just right there if those were the nets. Wouldn't there be more netting in the bottom of the picture if those belonged to DB? Not to mention The Beast entrace is a decent distnace away from the DB lift not directly under it, which is about the only way you could get the nets in the picture. Im wondering if this is just some construction supplies sitting over that way or part of the new entrance, but I dont think its attaced to Diamondback.
