Wow, can you say damage control. Why do I have a feeling we will never see or hear from Gamz again? There was a shooting, but not at Layfette Square that night, so because of that all the violene has moved? Thats amazing it happend over night. Funny you go from designing Theme Park attractions to FEC's? Go where the market is I guess. Good luck Amanda and I hope it is successful for you, but I wouldn't count on it. Hey Tiggey maybe we can get together, meet up with Amanda err Gamz and go visit Xscape. Ill bring the kevlar if you wana bring the nickles...

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)

The banking on the Hammerhead looks insane, I didnt expect it to be that steep. Also looking at the transition from 3rd hill to the Hammerhead is very quick. The pullout is almost non existent and looks to transition in to the Hammerhead very quickly, which should lead to very little loss of speed. Im starting to wonder about the first helix and the amount of latteral g's that will be pulled. With the amount of speed DB will have entering the helix it could be a very intense and surprising element, although I still dont expect it to be as forceful as the centerfuge on Titan. Still I think it could be very shocking for a B&M. -

^ I would agree, nor do any of the renderings show an enclosed area for the storage track, nor are there any additional footers poured to erect an additional structure on. -
SixFlags + Hair Cuts = WTF
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Could you imagine the danger of getting your haircut while ridding a coaster? Talk about getting your ears lowered. -

You should never Assume, because we all know what happens. Also if you notice I mentioned that Titan is my favorite Hyper, not B&M Hyper or even B&M, but just favorite Hyper. Which was the sentence after I discussed B&M. So once again yourself and flightoffear1996 should not assume what is never said. Also B&M would never make a coaster as forceful as Titan, but then again I guess I am only limited to discuss B&M coasters until the subject changes because the two of you seem to lack the capacity to follow a multi topic post. I will keep it simple if you need. -
This past weekend as an early Christmas Celebration, I loaded up the family truckster and took my wife and daughter to the Oglebay Resort in Wheeling WV for the annual Festival of Lights Celebration. For anyone not familiar with Oglebay Resort or the Festival of Lights, heres a little background. Oglebay is a 1,000+ acre resort outside of Wheeling, they have a lodge, skiing, golf, numerous resturants and shops, a zoo, and planatarium just to name a few things. The Festival of Lights is one of the largest outdoor light displays in the country and you get to sit in the comfort of your car as you drive through it. Official Site We arrived at Oglebay early Saturday and checked in to our room, we had reserved a lodge room and the staff was nice enough to upgrade us to the same style room but located in one of the many Chalets on the grounds. The Chalet sat at the top of scenic hillside with great views from all windows, we really enjoyed having the seclusion compared to the lodge, seeing as how it was a no vacancy weekend at Oglebay. That night we had reservations at the Lodge dinning room for the Holiday Dinner buffet. The lodge dinning room has picturesque windows that overlook the resort hillsides and the lights, so we were able to see a good number of lights as they were turned on for the evening. Really a great way to get excited for the light show and excelent food around. Once done with dinner we headed to the car to take off through the lights, another benefit of staying at the lodge is that admission to see the lights is included. After navagating the 6 mile circuit of lights, theres not much I can say besides Wow. The different set pieces were amazing, the size and grandure is unlike anything I have seen before. If this cannot get you in the Christmas mood I dont know what can. After going through the lights we strolled through the gardens of light that had numerous lights and a handcrafted life size Nativity Set. We also wittnesed a young man propose to his future bride. So we were not the only having a magical moment. As we headed back to our room we were just taking in the surrounding lights and the joy in my daughters face. Truely a great evening. Sunday morning we got ready to leave and headed to the dinning room once again. As part of staying at the resort you also receive free Mountaineer Breakfast Buffet. It was excelent. After finishing breakfast we headed for home, making a quick detour to visit Cabelas since we were in Wheeling. Amazing store, much larger than Bass Pro and my daughter loved the animal displays. As I told my wife it honestly was like visiting a zoo, except all the animals were dead. All in all we had an amazing time and my daughter absolutely loved the lights. The Festival of Lights is an amazing holiday event. This may become annual tradition for our family now and especially with how amazing everything at Oglebay was. I would recomend everyone visit Oglebay during the Festival of Lights, for a truely amazing and festive time. Thanks for reading and Merry Christmas Pictures will follow shortly

20+ B&M creations and I am almost positive that DB will take over as my favorite B&M. Although I wonder if DB will take over my favorite hyper spot currently held by Titan? I hope so. -

No Hard Rock Park has nothing to do with Hard Rock Cafe, they only paid for naming rights. Very expensive naming rights. A park can succeed right now, even a brand new one. There are many factors to why HRP failed. Just because an insdustry is well established does not mean new players cannot enter the market and become successful.

Not to be mean since your new, but if were to read through the previous 200+ pages of this forum and other Diamondback threads you would notice this has been discussed, as has the relevance of calling the hammerhead a hammerhead, comparing DB to other B&M mega coasters, the use of trims and the MCBR, the difference between footers and footings, what will the ascent angle of the lift hill be, will the drop truely be 74 degrees, that some of us prefer a Night Row compared to a Chariot or a Behemoth, weather and how it effects vertical construction, and finally that we are all excited to ride DB when it opens. Im not being mean, just its been discussed and I really dont want to get in to another footer vs footings arguement or a hammerhead vs turnaround arguement... Hey welcome aboard. Enjoy the ride and please keep all arms and legs inside the vehicle at all times... -

Looks like we should see some track work on the Hammerhead soon, probably the most anticipated section of the coaster. I for one am very interested in how it will turn out. -

Yes it is done and it looks great. Im surprised at how high it looks because it sits out of the valley. Really the skyline is never going to be the same again. ~RailRider trying his best to get back on the topic of DB construction -

I was using sarcasim. But would have been even funnier if the shark got out of the pool and asked to do it again. -

^ Very well put. I am a fan boy but there are also a number of rides I could not ride if they were not trimmed or have a heavy MCBR to kill speed. Short list, Texas Giant, Mean Streak, Titan, Vortex, Drachen Fire, SoB, Incredible Hulk, Dominator, and the list goes on. I dont understand the thought that trims and MCBR's kill rides. They are intended to make the ride as safe as possible by limiting the g's your body experiences. After all the majority of coaster ridders are not astronauts or figher pilots, so their bodies cannot take excessive g's at high speeds for long durations.
