Arrow had their hand in almost every attraction when Disneyland opened and Bacon wasn't even a trained engineer. Thats whats truely amazing... -
Karl Bacon quietly passed last month, but this article is a must read for any enthusiast. Mercury News Say what you will about some of the older Arrow coasters, but Bacon and Morgan revolutionized the industry.

Stanley would beg to differ. I wonder if he still thinks he can launch airplanes with air? Should be interesting to see how it works out, but I dont have much faith either Beast1979 -

I would agree with that. Disney has their hands in a lot of different pots. -
Well Im glad SFMM will continue adding coasters. After all who cares if they are running or the guest experience at the park. After I all I really want to ride X and socialize with various California gangs in one place. Still not quite sure SixFlags gets it. Also wondering if they will even have a say come 2010

world fastest coaster!

Ahhh yes ring°racer. I am amazed at how quickly speed is shed in the video. Should be interesting as more facts come out, but from what Ive heard and the promotional artwork I have seen the coaster seems to be very short and no real drop. At least Kingda Ka and TTD use their speed to reach amazing heights and have awesome drops. This on the other hand look more like Stanley's beloved Snow Shot making a full circuit. -

More from CNN Money. Interesting how the down economy is effecting year round parks like Disney, but it is strongly believed that seasonal parks like Kings Island, Cedar Point, and others will be in better shape come opening day because they were able to hybernate through the roughest time. Should be interesting to watch. -
I personaly enjoy making inaccurate changes to Wiki posts , but they seem possible. Dont ask me why, but Im sick like that.

Diamondback Construction Thread (Updated 3-19-09)
RailRider replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Clifford was not transported on a flatbed, it move back there on its own power once the boom was removed. The reasson I say this is because the crane would have to be completely disassembled to be loaded and moved on a flat bed. We are talking removal of crawlers, counter weights, and entire boom structure. I am positive that did not happen, so I am pretty sure that once the boom was removed Clifford moved himself back to the 3rd hill area with full array of counter weights in tow. I would say that the main issue was navigating the ravine with the boom attached, perserving the road was the least of their concerns seeing as how numerous tracked vehciles have criss crossed it numerous times. -
Doing some research I found that Aquatics International bestowed this upon Six Flags White Water. Looks like these awards are based on programing that is in place. For example White Water implemented water conservatin methods and philanthropic endevours. Sounds like these arent necessarily for the best park but more for parks and facilities that are active in the community. Hope that helps clear this up.

I would say you are right about being able to manuver through the valley with the full boom attached, but I dont see removing the boom being able to protect the path. After all it is the crawler tracks and the shear weight of the cabin that would damage the path. The boom while very sturdy is made to be as light weight as possible, so I would say that the crawlers would still damage the path even without the boom. -

No my resolution is not that clear, but the structures dont look solid enough even with poor resolution to be track. That why I am guessing its Clifford boom. The pieces seem to be open where they B&M box spine should be, but like you said the resolution makes it hard. -

Im not sure if that is track or if that is Cliffords boom disassembled and ready for loading. The sections look to be very open which tends me to think its the latice work on the boom and not the box spine of the track. -

Yes the ones that do the majority of the lifting and grunt work, but dont receive the glory or praise of a crane like Clifford. Size does matter, especially when talking cranes... -

Sorry but I think Casper is gone as well. I think he was only needed to complete the 1st and 2nd hills. -

From what I have seen on the web cam definately looks like Clifford will be leaving the site. Looks like the boom has completely been disassembled. Also the pullout of the 2nd hill and curve in to the 3rd looks like it could be an insane head chopper at high speed, where it crosses under the MCBR drop. -
Disney: Wide World of Greed
RailRider replied to RailRider's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yeah, but why do little leaguers need to play in a national championship? Whats wrong with winning your local league and being happy with that? I think it comes from parents pushing their kids and they put them on these traveling teams and its crazy. They think they have the next major leaguer on their hands. All through school I played baseball. Before highschool I played in the local leagues and was recruited to play a traveling team. I hated it because my entire summer was centered around games and raising money for various tournaments. Did it make me a better player? No. Only played half a seasson on a traveling team and quite organized baseball, left a bad taste in my mouth. Played for my high school once I was a Freshman and was all state my senior year. Thats why I say if Disney can charge for the tournament and teams will come, then good for them, but dont complain your team cant afford it. Thats not Disney's fault.
