New S&S Coaster Concept
RailRider replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Yes one of the many issues with the original X trains was the weight. Throw on top of that the width of the trains and how the weight hung off the side of the track, the high g's the trains couldn't hold up. I believe in the redesign of the trains they were able to remove 20,000 lbs of weight from the trains. The weight issue was so bad that they were changing out around 20 wheels a day on the trains. The trains just eventually broke down. Hopefully S&S learned from the issues Arrow had and this new concept doesn't share the same issues. Then again there are always bugs with concepts. -
New S&S Coaster Concept
RailRider replied to Captain Nemo's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I just wonder if the train could suffer the same structural issues that the original X train experienced. Seems like a lot of strees having the passenger pods hanging out to the sides and with the lateral G's. As I have seen more from this from IAAPA, I noticed that rather than using hydraluics to control the swinging like on suspended coasters, it seems to use airbags, looks to be the same kind they use in the auto industry. Interesting idea. -

I would guess they are using the tarp as a barrier to make the work within and under the station more bearable for the guys. Especially once they start running electrical and so forth underneath. -

I pulled in to one of the communities directly behind the island. I believe it was Ashton Falls or Afton Falls. Excelent first drop view and you will definately hear folks screaming on the way down. -
Cypress Gardens to Close for 4 Months

I like to search Rides 4-U and ocassionaly stumble across something interesting. Well there are 4 pages of Rides from Cypress Gardens as part of the liquidation. Rides 4-U Even the Starliner is listed. I am quite shocked that it is every ride within the park. I believe the writing is on the wall for this park. -

The areials are amazing. Realy puts in to perspective how big this monster is. Especially seeing the supports placed throughout the course now. Amazing, thanks for taking the time and effort to get such amazing pictures. -
Rollo Coaster is a very good coaster, although a little unerving at times. Haven't had the pleasure of Boulderdash, but it looks amazing and I hear good things. Raven is another coaster that hugs the terrain well. Although it is sometimes neglected because of its older siblings. Prowler should be an excelent coaster.

The 2005 Winterfest was a great time. The Christmas Tree show on Swan Lake was excelent, as where the parade and the toy factory show. Really a great time and the park was very beautiful. I think it was the best thing Paramount did at KI, but was also one of the most poorly executed things they did. Winterfest could be successful at KI, but the price would need to be much less and CF wont make the investment any time soon. Not until the economy turns around.
