  1. "Comfort Collars" not very comforting when they fall off. This ride and how it has been handled from construction, to theme and introduction make me seriously question the future of Busch as so many love them.
  2. Others have made many of the valid points I was going to reply with, but let me just add this and you tell me which one is better. When visiting the Magic Kingdom this past December there were 2 things my daughter wanted to do above and beyond anything else. Meet Anna and Elsa and ride the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train. Prior to FP+ I would have had 2 options at Disney, Legacy FastPass or Stand By. Legacy FastPass would have required me to be in the park at rope drop, make a mad dash to the sisters and grab a ticket, then over to enter the line for 7 Dwarfs to wait a few hours or once we used our FP for the sisters there may still be availability for paper tickets for the Dwarfs that would have been much later in the day. Either way these 2 attractions would have consumed half of the day at the Magic Kingdom. With FP+ I was able to book both of these attractions well before our arrival and for the times I basically wanted. That morning we were able to sleep in, have breakfast with Mickey at Chef Mickey's, casually walk over to Magic Kingdom from the Contemporary in the afternoon, walk in ride 7 Dwarfs with no wait, ride Pirates of the Caribbean and play the Adventure of the Seven Seas game in Adventureland while we waited for our Sisters window to open, meet the sisters and leave the park for dinner at the Wilderness lodge. All in all it allowed us as a family to relax inside the park because we had guaranteed reservations for the rides we wanted, weren't required to spend hours in line, and were able to experience neat attractions like Adventure of the Seven Seas that we never had time for in the past. Oh and after dinner we took a boat back to the Kingdom and enjoyed the Christmas Party with no pressure of needing to ride anything. Here is a link to my trip report with our first use of Magic Bands http://www.KICentral.com/forums/index.php/topic/30705-the-magic-of-disney-world-at-christmas/?hl=%2Bdisney+%2Bworld The system and experience it helps create are highly recommended and this coming from someone who was an expert at using the Legacy FP system
  3. The Magic Bands are making serious money for Disney, which is why the system is being implemented at Disney Land without the FastPass+ system. The system has increased in-park/resort spending because guests are spending less time in line and it has unique tie in purchases like Memory Maker. Also because of the uniqueness of the system and the experience it delivers I would argue that it incentivizes guests to return because how simple it makes Disney. I have heard that this system has already paid for itself + more.
  4. Incidents aside. How does a ride reopen soon after 2 trains impact each other? Seems with recent history the park would have been smart to shut it down for the day to fully inspect the failure. This should never happen on a coaster.
  5. ^ Thanks for sharing that memory with us. How awesome of a moment.
  6. I agree GYK, Disney World is working on a much bigger scope than any of those other properties. And Shark the Magic Band system infrastructure is quite amazing when we consider all that it can do. That system was installed without interruption to daily park activities. That too me is very impressive.
  7. Not to double post but season passes under FMP were roughly $65 when single day admission was high $30's before discounts. The similarities to KK are astounding which is why many of us in this forum keep point them out because KK is walking down the same path.
  8. Yes the similarities between HRP and KK are very obvious. I am not one to refer to Wikipedia as a trusted source but they have an amazingly detailed history of HRP that is well cited, its first year failure and then the actions of the parks as FMP. The big difference between HRP and KK currently is HRP had 0 state funded support unlike KK. Link to the article here and the similarities are quite amazing, well worth the read. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Freestyle_Music_Park
  9. Correct. They were estimating daily attendance around 30,000 people.
  10. Never released as far as I know, but they their initial overly optimistic projections were over 3 Million visitors the first year with a $50 admission and almost zero advertising. One of the many reason the park was almost empty most days
  11. This is one time the the time frame for construction for Disney seems quick. The amount of construction that has and is going on is very impressive for Disney Springs to be on the time line it is. Also construction is slated to be complete by 2016.
  12. Working effects and targets are impressive considering the rest of the ride.
  13. Just another small part of the continued transformation of Downtown Disney to Disney Springs. As mentioned Disney Quest was really nothing more than a D&B or Gameworks with the Disney name. I think this is a wise choice because young boys to my surprise love the NBA
  14. If considering a visit to KK, visit this year because next year is not promised. As Terpy said look at Hard Rock Park and some would argue it had more going for it than KK does.
  15. I am more sad this is closing because it was a great place to meet characters and the occasional rare character. The Queen was probably the neatest character we ever met there. This along with the Characterpalooza they do over by ToT made the Studios a great place to meet characters. Honestly at this point they haven't closed anything major at the park, the Backlot tour was a shell of its former self when Lights Motor Action went in. I could potentially see some kind of announcement at the upcoming D23 expo. Would love a Monsters Inc ride and maybe with the late closing of this area they could go with an Inside Out attraction, which would equal awesomeness.
  16. That picture is awesome! I have one from our first trip to Disney Land that is similar. Thanks for posting
  17. I understand about posting pictures for sure.
  18. That stinks you had put lots of work in to your TR and I was greatly enjoying. Any pictures to post?
  19. Yes grain silo explosions do happen and they are quite powerful. The powder used in these color events is typically made with a corn starch base which can explode if you have the right powder/air mixture and an ignition source. I thought I saw fireworks in the crowd during the video. A very bad situation overall and there were some nasty looking burns in the video, prayers for all involved.
  20. There was nothing more frustrating than watching Wishes Fireworks than a sea of selfie sticks with screens aglow in front of you. Glad they are gone.
  21. I don't think the new update has gone so well.
  22. If you have the itch, scratch it this year. Next year may be too late.
  23. $2,300 for a week at Disney with park tickets, meal plan and photo package is a very good deal for the start of peak season. I would challenge anyone to price a vacation to any popular tourist destination at a comparable time for a family of 3 including food and entertainment. The cost is very similar. As a family we have been pricing Myrtle Beach and a weeklong stay in a basic hotel room is ranging from $1,600 to $1,800. Factor in food and any entertainment and we are around the Disney vacation price. The article fails to mention that the cost of all vacations has risen, for my family it is more cost effective to visit Disney off season during free dining. The cost is quite reasonable.
  24. Glad to hear park operations are improving. Hope this improvement trickles in to all areas of operations.
