Unfortunately, it's a matter of Paramount not understanding revenue streams. This may be a situation where KOA may take the opportunity to open a camp and RV ground.

WOW! The park is going to be open on November 5 & 6? Lord - Someone's gonna be bustin their butts to get the park ready for Winterfest. We used to start set for this the weekend after the park closed and that was in October. I'm not sure that the planners know just how much work is really involved with changing things over and just the darn decorating. (Let alone the people that work on the fountain conversion.) LOL - Good Luck and I Hope Paramount Knows what it's doing.

Absolutely! I'm an old coaster nut that has ridden them all over the country. In my opinion, there is no worse ride than on Son of Beast. My one ride on Son of Beasst is the only ride that I will ever take.

That's really great to hear present workers being so posetive about the experience. I remember having an employee that wanted to wear gloves when working register one year for gay day. She quickly found that she was working patio and in the back of the stand the rest of the day. Only through getting to know and understanding each other are we able to break down stereotypes and prejudices.

I spent a lot of my time at the park growing up. It was essentially my first job and working there I put in more hours than I could possibly imagine. The skills and training that I received there I'm still able to utilize in my day to day life.

Actually my degree is in business administration and I'm quite proficient in the subject. As you may or may not know, attractions have "draw" areas. Dollywood draws from Nashville and even from Cincinnati to some extent. It is not good business sense for her to market against herself or to fragment her draw area.

I don't think that there is going to be any great danger of being shut out on any specific night. There have been times in the past that the Winterfest had been near capacity, but the park is able to equalize the numbers pretty quickly by opening and closing locations and attractions. I for one am extremely excited to see Winterfest. I'll be able to report on the differences between Kings Island Winterfest and Carowinds Winterfest.

Dolly is a very shrewed business woman. A park in Nashville would directly affect Opryland. I can't imagine she would set up a part to compete with herself.
-
The Opryland Hotel is still phenominal. It's still booked a good portion of the years as it's widely utilized as convension destination. They now have a new location in Orlando.
-
For the cocept to be even presented, there would have to be at least a legitimate possiblity that they would be able to acquire the rights.
-
I actually think that Opryland was the best landscaped park in the country. I don't consider Disney to be landscaped as almost everything is plastic and made to "look real." The close second would have to be Bush Garden's Williamsburg. I was completly shocked when I heard that Gaylord Entertainment had decided to close the park and open an outlet mall. How absolutely disgusting is that premise. Anyway, I have the memories and can say I'd been there a few times.

You can't be serious?

Friday is Pride Night. I don't think they'll have any of the FearFest Attractions running. I do believe that it's just mostly regular opperations with special shows taking place at International Showplace.
-
Yeah, I wish PKI would do a lot of things. I wish they would concentrate on bringing live shows back to the park. I wish they would put more value on customer service than for vending machines. But alas, I don't think any of it is going to happen.

Yeah, I'm not agreeing or disagreeing if the guy was right or wrong to complain. Sounds like someone that just has a chip on his shoulder and needs to get some new hobbies.

I'm thinking that most people do not have difficulty spelling their own names. Part of working in customer services in general and in Guest Relations in specific is knowing how to deal with and understand the public. It is not "the publics" issue that a Guest Relations Rep has trouble understanding. It is the Guest Relations Reps job to ask for clarification. When I was employed at the park, we had a course called "Service Excellence." It was training regarding what takes your customer service skills from merely passable to outstanding. We went over senarios about what to do if someone buys food and drops it on a patio. What would happen if someone lost a ball cap that they had worn on The Racer and a variety of things like that. Asking a name spelling is such a no brainer that I can't believe that Guest Relations is now letting this one slip by. I'm thinking that this rep either did not participate in such a course or was asleep during the training.

Yeah, the train actually stopped and actors/actresses boarded the train. It was very cool to see this actually done.

URGENT: Don't Forget About The Events This Week
WooferBearATL replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
And Pride Night is being held on Friday evening. -
Let me see? It's the customers fault for the person at Guest Relations not understanding or asking for clarification of the names spelling. I'm really trying to grasp this one and understand it. I think I have it though - if the person in Guest Relations has no experience with customer service, I can see that it may be partially the customers fault. No, No - even then it's not even half his fault.

The live action on the train actually stopped prior to Lindner and AFC purchasing the park.

My Favorite HB Character was Hong Kong Phoey!

Yeah, but the landscaping used to be incredible. The landscaping crew used to start early in the morning and not leave until late in the evening. There would be topiary throughout the park. The only park that had better landscaping (Even More than Disney) was Opryland. Guess that we just have to leave that to the Bush parks now. Funny, it's the little things that make the difference between a good park and a great park.

Yeah, when there were lives shows or even the ice show they actually used to have lines to get into the Festhaus. They used to have to deal with show rushes and the place was hopping until about 8:30pm every night.
-
Ahhh, I have some great pics I'll have to locate. One night we tossed one of our cashier foreman in there. She looks like she's going to punch someone.
