What are the chances PKI will get a SpongBob ride.
WooferBearATL replied to ragerunner's topic in Coming Attractions
It was sarcasim. I'm one that think it's not the wisest of moves to remove HB Theming from the park. Heck, I didn't think it was wise to remove HB row markers from the parking lot. -

NOOOOOOOO! Your kids enjoy a ride with *GASP* HB Characters! -
There was actually a weekly series that was taped at the park and lasted only a short time. It was called "Down at Tripple Creek." It was a live action show with puppets as well. Most of the filming occured behind Columbia Palace (Wings). Tripple Creek was actually the little water feature running under a bridge by Swan Lake. LOL, it was a cheesy show but cute none the less.

And Yes, they did mention Kings Island by name. They mentioned the name when they were telling the family they were going on a trip. They also said located in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Waynes World Theming

Right you are. And a little known trivia is that the Renaisance Festival (all be it a smaller version) took place in the gardens prior to it's permanent location in Harveysburg. -
Help put THE BEAST to sleep for the season
WooferBearATL replied to BoddaH1994's topic in Kings Island
Actually, SFOG is a pretty nice park. It's not quite the format that I'm used to but it certainly is well maintained and attended. I'm not sure you can legitimately accuse them of not having a variety of attractions. -
I don't think you could call Cedar Fair's path wrong by any stretch of the imagination. Cedar Point has always been and probably will be a force into the future. (Ugh, yes it's hard for me to say that even years after working at Kings Island.) It's true that all parks borrow ideas from each other. (Heck, the Festhaus idea came from Bush Gardens.) Even Disney took the idea of one price admission for rides from other parks.

Help put THE BEAST to sleep for the season

Now that the son is asleep we need to gather him up and put him up for adoption. I'm sure there is a park somewhere that can take him under it's arms. -
Please site examples of such. I only ask this as I find it very difficult to imagine or believe that anyone within park planning would go to the effort to investigate and to punish folk for posting information of that sort. Yes, people that are given "need to know" information know and understand that. It's not likly that someone provided privelidged information would discuss it so carelessly. Generally, additions and changes to the park would not be considered need to know information. In essence, any "Buzz" created by any source is looked upon as favorable by most marketing departments.

Yeah, I know. But when I saw that Winterfest was coming back, I just had the thought "Maybe Paramount Hired Someone that really understands what running a theme park means." But then it actually is probably a learning curve item. Granted, Taft Broadcasting did not know everything when they opened Kings Island or Kings Dominion. They had to learn through trial and error. The thing that I had found sad with when Paramount took over was that they attempted to reinvent the wheel. I never have understood why companies have felt that they need to not learn from the lessons that their predeccesor had already learned.
-
I politely disagree. Paramount knew nothing about park management when they took over. It seems as though they are finally getting the hang and understanding of what it takes and it appears that Kings Island is returning to a former glory. Posetive signs are the return of Winterfest, rehab of the Festhaus and the capital investment in the Nickelodeon area. Would be nice to see concentration on theming and actually casting employees in themed uniforms again.

45 minutes for coffee! You are a sick man! LOL, but with that kind of posetive attitude I bet you're fun to be around.
-
WOW!!! A decrease in prices on admission. I'm thinking that news of that is going to pretty much rock the theme park industry.
-
Now that looks awesome. Just think - they coupld put that right about where SOB's first hill used to be. errrrrr - Never Mind. <G>
-
There's a great deal of history behind much of the park. Paramount, at least to this point, had little care or concern for that history and basically wanted to place thier brand on the park. With the advent of the return of Winterfest, I'm hopeful that someone in Paramounts Management division has come around to restoring some of the the things that made and make Kings Island a premier park.

There are many "back room's in the Festhaus. I'm not so certain why folk think they're so special. Are you talking about the old dressing rooms or the stock rooms?
-
I've been a skater for years and even played hockey for a spell. There really is nothing like skating on the fountain under all those lights. That alone was worth the price of admission.
-
Well lights can be turned up in it and it becomes bright as day. They used to only be dimmed during shows.

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
WooferBearATL replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
Yup, and my Niece and Nephew both know and love the characters. They're both under 9 years old and don't have Boomerang to watch the cartoons on. I stand by the fact that time will show that this is an ill informed decision made by Paramount. -

Saw a new Midas commercial this morning. They seem to be using the Flintstones as spokespeople. Ohhhhhh, this dropping of HB is going to end up biting Paramount in the Butt. -
Taft Broadcasting and the KECO (Kings Entertainment Company). Kings Island was owned for a short time by AFC (American Financial Corporation) but still managed by KECO. In the early 1980's, KECO purchased Great America from Marriott. Carowinds, Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland and Kings Island were all under the original ownerships.
