  1. I hope Dinosaur Alive succeeds because if it does it will help Kings Island bring up its guest price caps and could lead the way to other great adventures and special events. From the many guests gathering around the International Street Dinosaure and taking pictures with it, I believe Dinosaure Alive is going to be very successful.
  2. Maybe the saying "Those who don't know talk and those who do don't' should be changed to "Those who don't know, know! and those who do know don't"
  3. Look at it this way, the park has two options if they aren't going to open WindSeeker on Opening Day: Announce it - in which case they are likely to reduce opening day attendance Not announce it until opening day - in which case opening day attendance will be unchanged What would you do? It will be interesting to see how they handle it on opening day if it isn't open. Well seeing how Kings Islands revenue comes from mostly recreational entertainment of the general public as they do not produce a tangible object, I believe they will do right by the paying guest before putting their own interest ahead of the public. Because when many business do that they soon find out they will no longer need to worry about their own interest as no one else will either. I remember last year Holiday World put out notices about the delay of the Tmberliners and watched cancellations to a coaster event pour in, they said the wanted to warn travelers of the change and then gave out free tickets to those who came anyway. I know Kings Island has as much class as Holiday World and will do what is in their guest's best interest. Since we are being honest at the moment; let me just say seeing how it is Tuesday and I get a bit queasy about going really high on rides other than coasters. I do not feel really comfortable going 300+ feet high with Kings Island only having less than a week to test WindSeeker. So I hope it is delayed for my own comfort and if it is running I think I will take pictures and video of the area while others ride. Maybe later that day after watching WindSeeker cycle for a while I may decide to go ahead and ride.
  4. ^ That is so cute and funny, I mean who knew then how appropriate that video would be today. Nice recycle of some old but worthy material.
  5. No Interpreter when we spot a old female dinosaur, we save her for you. If you will please.
  6. For Kings Island park enthusiast this is huge and very welcomed news. I am very excited about seeing an updated Coney Mall look and a new thrill ride WindSeeker towering over the area, I am also very pleased to see Kings Island trying new activities like last year's train tour and now this year a major Dinosaur exhibit. These types of new activities are what keep my family and me coming back and looking forward to doing something new. I welcome Dinosaur Alive and wish it a very successful endeavor while at Kings Island. I think what excites me the most and not to take away from the fantastic job Kings Island has been doing in adding so much beauty and thrills to the park this off-season is the fact that they are opening up a whole new area for guest to explore. I know this type of activity and the location Dinosaur Alive is taking up can lead to even more parallel activities or a permanent expansion in the area. This is truly some of the best news I have heard in a long time. Way to go Kings Island I tip my hat to you, keep up the great work!!!!
  7. I must admit I am really looking forward to experiencing this Dinosaur attraction with my family. We enjoy slowing down on the thrill to enjoy family activities such as waiting for the fireworks by the Royal Fountains and the Starlight Spectacular last year. This will be a very welcomed addition for this family.
  8. So they can start advertising on Friday for the new adventure as thousands drive past the park everyday.
  9. The dinosaur and bones hint seems to be the big push so it seems that we are getting dinosaurs in some capacity. In what form I do not know, Disney Animal kingdom has a children play called Boneyard It has a lot of slides, rope bridges and other hands on displays In one section they have an extremely large dig site for everyone to shift through to unveil remints of dinosaurs So it looks like Kings Island is using an existing path or making a new one and wonder if something like this could be incorporated along the trial. Another possible option would be a new show in Action Theater relating to an adventure with dinosaurs. If it ends up being like this I will be happy to see something like this incorporated in that area for the kids and families to do, especially if some younger ones are waiting for other family members who are out riding the big thrills. I do not think it will be a coaster by any means and I do believe it will happen this year and as a theme park enthusiast I am looking forward to something different. I am excited about an area I have often breezed past during my visits coming alive again with a fresh new look. As a long time visitor to Kings Island I am very anxious to see the new look of Coney Mall almost as much as I am about WindSeeker.
  10. Yeah something like a museum trial going through the Haunt Trail with its new walkway. So instead of using for just haunt it can be used during the regular season. Drop in some old past artifacts of Kings Island past and wha la, something new that brings back the past. .
  11. Anything will be nice but I think if it was something big, why would they want to announce that before the opening of WindSeeker. I mean it would seem that they would want to promote the new ride right now and if it was big KI usually likes to have a big live audience in attendance. I guess we will find out soon enough.
  12. If by waterpark opening you can not find some swim trunks without the rivets keep in mind that the Boomerang Bay gift shop sells them without the rivets. Yes they are a bit more but at least you know they will work plus at the beginning of the season you get the first pick of the lot.Good Luck
  13. Maybe it is not to bring in a lot on new customers, but to get more $ out of their already visiting customers. I know some of the Zip Line attractions at various parks are operated and maintained by a third party entity. http://www.dollywood.com/adventure-q10099-c10097-SkyZip.aspx
  14. Not sure what you mean by to big for what you need but guessing you may need to re-size what you have. So I suggest going to Picnik http://www.picnik.co...p#/home/welcome Then upload your picture and under the Editing tab find the re-sizing tool and follow the instructions and adjust for what you need When you are done with that click on the "Save & Share Tab" to save the photo back to your computer. Good luck.
  15. Oh I don't blame OPEC much other than the monopoly they try to maintain, I place blame at our own feet. We are more intelligent as a country than ever but some how we play dumb here or are we. What I was saying about OPEC is a OPEC nation falls to the people those people are demanding a bigger piece of the pie and they will need to produce more oil and not be limited to OPEC's limits. Other countries in the OPEC program will feel the pressure of losing business and revenue to the first country to break away and they all rush to lower their price and raise their limits if China and US will guarantee price and numbers.
  16. I think that is what most overlook in the price increase and that is beyond their own gas refill but in truth even if you drive the most economical vehicle you will pay a huge price for everything. I own a transportation business and I fill my tank of 31 gallons every day and a half, another driver of mine fills her tank twice a day. We are passing the cost on. As far as for the push for eco friendly cars; well we can push and wish all day but we are not there yet and not even close for many years to come. To top that off there is no shortage of oil, just obstacles to get it, so i venture to say there will be a major push back on the obstacles into regular oil production first followed by the push for the eco friendly vehicles. I mean how on earth are the folks who live in the city and park in the streets going to charge up? This crises is a man made event and not a natural one. Just one more babling thought I wonder if OPEC will hold up during these times and with all the turmoil. If OPEC goes so do the high prices for a while.
  17. Mr.America normally I like to welcome new members to KIC but I suspect you have been here for awhile already and just hiding behind the name Mr. America. Most enthusiast who join usual try to get along and not make their first two post insulting fellow members and they normally put nice things about the parks or fun banners showing their pride for the amusement industry and not quotes of "What'cha gonna do when Mr. America runs wild on you (and your stupid posts)". I would have a different way to handle the situation if I was that upset as RatorGuy but then again I am not him so I just hear him out as well as others. I am very ashamed to see so many personal attacks here and hope the Admins can step in before this site disgraces itself any further. I feel as if we all have been invited to a house party and the hosts have left to go to another party.
  18. I am with you standbyme when I watched the video below of my family riding Blue Racer I almost said the same thing as you about things seemed simpler back then. <object width='640' height='427'> <param name='movie' value='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' /> <param name='flashvars' value='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=80981a0512251d61805c040c90c54dab%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122487372%26w=640%26h=427' /> <param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /> <param name='bgcolor' value='#000000' /> <embed type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='640' height='427' allowfullscreen='true' bgcolor='#000000' src='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' flashvars='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=80981a0512251d61805c040c90c54dab%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122487372%26w=640%26h=427'></embed> </object> After thinking about It I would say it was simpler back then and that is because back then I did not need to worry about work and all the stress associated in taking care of and providing for a family. I think now that most can understand way so many of us youngster back then fell in love with Kings Island during its early years.
  19. With all do respect your post strikes me as someone who has never been to Disney World. Even though I believe you have. For those who have went and know the old Mickey setup area understand the last thing Disney wants is for their guests that want to meet with Mickey to miss their opportunity or to wait many hours in line to do so. Since the Old location has been closed due to the new construction for the new area they needed to move Mickey to a temporary location and it is a bit smaller than the old location. So to keep things moving you can get a ticket and be given a whole hour to get in line and not to the minute as some would like to mislead you to believe. This I know too sometimes you will miss that time due to a dinner reservation, ride malfunction/slowdown, being held up or for a 100 other reasons, well Disney will still let you get in line with you past due time. For those who prefer the old way and stand in line while at one of the greatest parks in the world they still can. I applaud Disney in steeping up and recognizing the problem and spending the money to help families have some private time with Mickey with no worries.
  20. Many years back, in fact all the way back to the beginning of Kings Island I had the privilege to visit Kinks Island about once a year and if I was lucky after learning to drive I got a second visit. Well that all changed about 6-7 years back during the Paramount years while my family waited in line we noticed others being able to bypass much of the lines through Speed Lanes (Fast Pass). We asked how this was done and was told because they had Gold Season Passes and that was a perk for them. Well we discussed the perk as a family and even considered becoming a Kings Island season pass holder and coming more often as we have never even considered doing that as we thought we lived to far away here in Indianapolis. So that started us off on making many treks across Indiana to come to Kings Island and found a whole new way to enjoy Kings Island in the way from taking our time touring the park , coming over for just special events, so we have renewed our passes every year since. The Speed Lane perk was what got us to become season pass holders and we loved the perk. So as many things in life do things change and our very beloved perk that worked for us so well was phased out and eventually ended. Well we as a family were very disappointed and at first considered not renewing our passes but did and figured out new ways to enjoy the park without our perk. I did voice my disappointment to the park and even on this board and witnessed that many on KIC did not care for the speed lane perk versus the ERT to some coasters, which to us did not work for us as a family on a regular basis. I understood that as a business Kings Island need to do what they felt was best for them and for the interest of satisfying their other guests. We also understood why many KIC members preferred the new ERT perk but that did not lessen our disappointment. I was glad at the time I had a place like KIC to voice my disappointment and to be able to see another way others preferred a different perk as it helps me have a better understanding as a whole in what works for Kings Island as guests and as a business. I just want to tell all my fellow members who are disappointed with the switch for the ERT attractions that I know how you feel. Even though I do not care much for the ERT perks versus other perk opportunities I know how much you looked forward to the perk that worked for you and gave you more enjoyment when visiting Kings Island. I am still glad there is a place here for you all to be able to voice and discuss your disappointment. I hope others as well as the park have some understanding and give those who need it some space while some need to voice their disappointment so soon after finding out about the ERT change. Please let me add this. It seems some have problems here on KIC with KI fanboys and enthusiast and have more problems with them than they do with changes. I do wish this would not happen here as much. I have said it forever, I want to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions good and bad as only hearing one over the other is suspect and I have learned who the KI kool-aid drinkers are and those who are impossible to please. That does not mean I do not want to hear from them but I do put a filter on their comments.I am sure KI likes to hear all sides on a opinion most the time too.
  21. I am just responding to your point about the enthusiast or lack of in your picture as about this topic I see both sides and have been on both sides through the years. Now in the picture you posted about one of the biggest if not the biggest crowds for opening day and if they all look like enthusiast. I got to say YEAH or else they would not have been there like most other opening days at KI. Entusiast do not always take the mold we see here and my not even know this site exist. Now do I think we will see crowds this large for opening day for WindSeeker, well we can hope and if I had to guess I would say they sell less Season Pass with WS ERT perk than they did back foe DB opening day with a promise for ERT. Again I see both sides on the issue and hope it all works out in the end as it certainly will over time.
  22. Another great set of photos thanks Paul. markr yes I know what you mean as almost had a protein spill right after my last ride on Winnie Witches Cauldrons that can be seen in the video below. <object width='640' height='427'> <param name='movie' value='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' /> <param name='flashvars' value='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=e3e49798ec8f4debc98365fcb5b0a54b%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122114977%26w=640%26h=427' /> <param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /> <param name='bgcolor' value='#000000' /> <embed type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='640' height='427' allowfullscreen='true' bgcolor='#000000' src='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' flashvars='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=e3e49798ec8f4debc98365fcb5b0a54b%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122114977%26w=640%26h=427'></embed> </object>
  23. That was one heck of a construction tour, for those who did not click on Delium_Guys link to TPR go back and do so now. WOW!!! WOW!!! WOW !!! I have said since I joined KIC that I much prefer theme over thrills, not saying I do not enjoy or want thrills but theming is the most important aspect that I look forward to on any attraction. The more immerse a attraction is the better. I feel absolutely in love with Manta and for both a great thrill of a pretzel roll and because of the theme but most impressive was the fact it had both. When I ride Manta I feel miles away from civilization and nothing else matters at the time. I knew Cheetah Hunt was going to have both theme and thrill but I must say with this construction tour and seeing it all come together I cannot remember a time that I have been so excited about riding a new coaster since they built Manta. Busch gardens Tampa is definitely raising the bar on this attraction and I can only hope that others will try to compete. I am so impressed in the way it is turning out. I truly want to make a weekend trip around opening and then back during our annual fall vacation and hopefully a third trip next December. So I guess it is true build it and they will come works for me when it comes to this type of attractions. I hear and see many running to new rides that set a new record for thrills and I do get excited but not always ready to make a special trip to ride. Manta and Cheetah Hunt is what makes me want to let the screaming little fanboy out that I keep hidden inside. I am very very excited about coming down to ride this one soon.
  24. As mentioned above the kiddie whip has had many many name changes through the years. I still think to this the day the kiddie whip gives more genuine heart felt thrills than any ride Kings Island currently has now or in the past. That thrill can be experienced without even riding the ride, just watching the kids on it will thrill your heart and watching the parent/grand parent watching their children will thrill you too. The best thrill that ride gives is to the parents watching their young children riding. This ride is a classic and in my opinion the best thrill ride out there when all things are considered. As far as its name back in the early to mid 70's I know it was called Looney Duney as you can see in the video of the same two kids riding over a span of a few years. <object width='640' height='427'> <param name='movie' value='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' /> <param name='flashvars' value='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=ba9e6208c4aab709b1e4981af9b2ad08%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122030503%26w=640%26h=427' /> <param name='allowFullScreen' value='true' /> <param name='bgcolor' value='#000000' /> <embed type='application/x-shockwave-flash' width='640' height='427' allowfullscreen='true' bgcolor='#000000' src='http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=player&.swf' flashvars='config=http://albums.phanfare.com/video_config.ashx?m=conf%26hs=ba9e6208c4aab709b1e4981af9b2ad08%26u=1009485%26a=5016838%26i=122030503%26w=640%26h=427'></embed> </object>
