  1. Don't mention the pizza.........Don't mention the pizza.........Don't mention the pizza..........You mentiond the PIZZA!!!!!!!!!! Now what am I going to do if they don't re-open the park? Starve that is what I will do STARVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. One more ride on Blue Streak would make my summer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  3. I think he was trying to get you excited with RT and rightfully so. Also when I was working on Kingda Ka before the name was released, we had to call it coaster K. Then after the name was released they said to call it KK and that lasted about an hour because people started to add an extra K. It ended up we had to call it Ka. Also if you want a complete list of abbreviations and definitions, just get a teenager.
  4. quit hoging all the topics Interp. Monroe who was here all night!!
  5. Just a little tip Pkifan73, just open rcdb in a separate window so when some one mentions something you do not understand you can look it up. They do have a definitions section which is a little too general but you will get the idea if you use it. Also remember on this board you will find those who know what they are talking about, and give you very useful and accurate info, and you will find those who use personal opinion as fact. Just try and ride as many coasters as you can and then take your word for it.
  6. Don't forget to keep your arms and legs inside the car at all times, and remain seated do not stand while the ride is in motion. Most of all please enjoy your day here at Kings Island.
  7. My daughter when she was younger asked me what my favorite ride was in the children's area, and I said "the Scooby Doo." She said "you mean The Beastie" I said "no the Scooby Doo." She then said "they are the same ride" and I said "no the Scooby Doo had a better name and I liked it better as the Scooby Doo". We as humans use association as a stimulant, for example, my daughter now in her teens does not like to ride Avatar because of the big figure on top of the car. Yes people would go if they just had rides without names, but they would enjoy it more (and spend more money) if they had that stimulant. Firehawk would not have the same wait if it were called the Panda Express, and Nickelodeon would not have as many teens if it were just simply called kiddy land. I personally think they would do better with Nickelodeon, but I do not think it would end up being a wash out with Snoopy. Either way they would do better than to have just a generic name.
  8. I totally agree I think the Nick name would help the entire chain A LOT, Snoopy is old news. But Im still curious to see what will happen to TRTR it's really the only one where the movie tie can't be removed easily. And don't say they are going to tear it down!!! O.K. then Take it down.
  9. Firehawk!!!!!!! Sal is the man!!!!!!
  10. Next time use ping pong balls instead of golf balls, they tend to give and don't chafe the inner leg.
  11. You make it sound like there J.I. Joe doll lost an arm. First off a ride does not break, it fails and with any mechanical device it WILL fail. From what I have heard in this case a LIM fin failed and caused damage to the launch cart. This is an easy but costly fix, something CF can handle but GL can not. What I mean by that is, CF can move the ride from one location to another and include the repairs in the cost of the move. On top of that GL has not proven to be a very profitable dry park, and with a whole slew of profitable parks with reliable maintenance personal, it is in CF best interest to move and fix the $8,000,000.00 ride. I do not know where you received your info from, but I personally would not trust them too much. I would be very surprised if they junk it.
  12. Tumble Bug, My mothers favorit. We would ride it last every visit.

Generally a ride manufacture has three entities, design, manufacturing, and assembly. B&M is this way, the design side is B&M, the manufacture is called Clermont Steel, and the assembly is usually a contractor in the general area. (When I say general contractor, I do mean some one experienced with this type of project and is trained by B&M). B&M has had only one ride relocated, and they did send a rep to oversee the disassembly and reassembly. I do not know if Vekoma sent a rep or not, but I do know that they did send or are sending replacement parts for the switch track on Firehawk. This tells me that KI has been in touch with Vekoma or has a rep on premises.
  14. Why is it that when some one on here mentions expanding Xbase the first thing they mention is rest rooms? Are we just too lazy to walk the 100yrds, or do we all have bladder problems?
  15. Monroe replied to DropZone99's topic in Rumors
^Thank you Interpreter. I only have one thing to say about HUSS, "The only good HUSS is a HUSS out of warranty and modified with on site fabricated parts".
  16. Monroe replied to DropZone99's topic in Rumors
The next person who mentions a bathroom in "X-Base" needs there head examined!!!!!! For the love of Pete's sake, just walk the 100yrds to the bathroom in either direction. either that or get a catheter and a leg bag!!!!!
  17. it's a squarish looking thing with 4 holes, 1 for your body, 1 for each arm, and 1 for your head. It is usualy made of some sort of cloth and can come in a variaty of colors and designs on the front or back. Monroe who will be here for some of the week, if you need some one here all week look for the Interpreter. thanks bud. No problem, I'm sure you were just feeling a little clammy that day.

  19. Thats the same kind of math where you google infinity pi and multiply by the number of eye lashes on a super model to get the number of molicules in the steel for Firehawk!!!!!!
  20. I would like to say that you werent the only one to visit www.pki.com yesterday and check out the ride info. Atleast now that it was pointed out here, people will see it. I know, I'm just saying. They litterally mount the camera on the train. Sometimes people don't (it's illegal, don't try it yourself. It could really hurt someone), and they are pretty bad. Hank was using sarcasm in his statement, right Hank you were using sarcasm. Please say you were using sarcasm. Oh Hank I know that you were using sarcasm because if you were not using sarcasm, that would make me look bad by posting the statement that you were using sarcasm. And you would not do that to a fellow poster would you Hank?
  21. If they tested it, why have there been so many issues with the hydraulic system? And not only on TTD but also on KK. http://www.toledoblade.com/apps/pbcs.dll/a...EWS17/108070119 ... this has now become even MORE intresting. That article is very miss leading. A common practice among journalists is to write about something that can be made into something big. The Hydraulic motors on the two rides are massive some of the largest I have ever seen, they expected to have problems not so much on Kingda Ka but on TTD. I do know that they did order larger motors than was specified for Kingda Ka after the issues with TTD came up, and the car still did not make it over until the 8th adjustment. The system would have been much more reliable if they would have used steam, the Navy has been using it for years, but the launch times would have been stretched out due to the fact that you have to generate the steam. The big issues that I saw that were not expected were with the control system. There is about 50 sensors on the hydraulic system alone not to mention the standard operation sensors on the train and the track, if one is bad the ride does not run. This was the first prototype ride that I had the pleasure of working on and the thinking of both the designers and the parks is the same, "get this thing up and running and fix it later". The reason they do that is it will make you if it works or you can fix it in a short period of time, but it will break you if you take your time building it or can't fix it in a short period of time. Either way you will not know until it is built. You have to understand that this is a mechanical devise and it WILL fail. Also Engineers don't have a clue when it comes to real life devices, if it works on paper it will work in real life, that is never the case. I should know, I am a control systems ENGINEER.
  22. Yes you can test that sort of thing at a testing facility. It has been done and I have done it. The launch system for TTD was tested at a test facility before it was installed and certified. The problems with TTD are mainly size, I did not work on TTD but I did work on Kingda Ka and the problems were mainly attributed to the sheer number of sensors on the ride due to the size. As for Maverick and the heart line roll, I am under the impression that the heart line roll is on the power stroke or down slope after the launch. This has 2 issues, 1 the top speed of the train will be close to the middle of the heart line roll, and 2 the strain will be mainly on the casters or wheel frames, you want the strain mainly on the track if at all possible. I am wandering who wanted to push the envelope on this one, and how the maintenance at CP did not catch this in the design stage. A human can take a heart line roll at 70 with no problem they do that in jets every day, but the maintenance on a roller coaster would be hell.
  23. Oh UncleHenry you young fuddy duddy live a little and learn to smile while going from ride to ride. The Clown band can help you do that you know.
  24. I think it was just for the first year, I have never waited for more than 45min for Vortex since the first year. I still could be wrong and the line under the station was just for The Bat but for some reason I remember the line under the station. I work on a lot of different rides all around the world (mainly in the Netherlands and Great Briton) so things tend to blur. I just returned from my spring PM calls from over seas and I am getting my passes this week end. There is a lot of interesting stuff going on in the coaster world, all of you should be happy that you live so close to what is going to become the epicenter.
  25. The line used to be under the loading platform, and the wait was 1hour from the entrance to the steps and 2hours from the walk way to the taxi's. When it first opened I waited about 3 hours, they would double back the line, I got in line around where the entrance is and it went out to the path and back. I am also one of the fortunate ones who stood in line for The Beast on opening day and waited 6 hours. My longest was for King Cobra, I was in line when it lost the wheel, although I got out of line for a few months, I was in the line the day it re-opened. I am going to count that one because I didn't ride any thing else in-between. The shortest was Kingda Ka, I was on the installation crew and was able to ride it on the final test day the day before opening.
