You’ve just proven that you aren’t worth arguing with. The offer for the bridge in Brooklyn stands.
-
How many visits are irrelevant. I was presented with a product and it was changed after they had my money, with no refunds. But to reframe your question: I was promised bottled drinks on the VIP Lounge from August 2022 until December 2023, I got them through August of 2022. Enhanced Pass Perks was offered as a 2023 perk. As of this writing, it is generally accepted that it has yet to be delivered. A dedicated line for Prestige entry was offered for 2023. I’ve only used it once, but I’ve heard from many that after the first week or so they started letting non-Prestige through it if they got on that lane. Prestige benefits at other parks were intentionally left vague, then promised, then removed. At CP some have had success with skip the lines, but many have been turned away from VIP. Carowinds honored them until May. You seem to think Prestige is a good value that will totally be honored next year, as promised. If you believe that then I have a bridge in Brooklyn I can sell you. By the way, I’d love to see your reaction if you bought a 4K TV at Best Buy and took it home only to find out that it’s 720p. Then when you try to return it they say, “yeah but there was a Rocky marathon on last night, so you got your money’s worth.”

I like how you act like the benefits listed on the SP page are some sort of authority. Remember how many times they were quietly changed without notice after everyone bought their passes. I am well aware that it’s a blog. They push their policy through the blog quite often - even with Prestige. Remember how they said to call the other Prestige parks to find out your benefits? Many did - and were told they could use them (and were able to use them) - until Tony put out a blog saying it was only for your home park, thus changing the policy via the blog. Therefore, which do you trust? The SP page or the blog? But my point is, my original post was going to be about how the info contradicted, but the SP page didn’t. It had the same language as the blog. My question was honest, and I even asked some people internally if the benefit was going away, and they said they had heard it was… but no one seems to know what’s going on with Prestige. That’s why I asked. I wanted to see if anyone else had heard anything.

Except for the prices (which I am simply excluding from this comment) I think you are right. Plus other information coming out of Kings Island.

This doesn’t? Sure looks like there is no mention of a 15% off merchandise discount to me. This is from their blog dated August 3, 2023.
-
Weird how a blog post from a year ago has 2024 in the headline… and still doesn’t have the language about 15% off merchandise in the benefits list. Here’s the link once again: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/2022/guide-to-2023-season-passes?fbclid=PAAaYXI78Bd4R8_Ojra7c-HVqF87D-BOPSfDBgXO7Aunr1ys1eqdSNJ9IGfjA_aem_AXEwMZMukj5izPvbBtIyK3IBBTN7qvTkEZ8hy8YHJzDKndx0Hp9rrsiJm58LpVqXf3k The language in the actual purchase page was updated to include the 15% after I made the post.

Advertising is expensive. PR and Social are cheap. Which one do you think they’re leaning on right now? Expect to see much more of this moving forward. You can pay for your entire social and PR budgets with the cost of one good billboard. And no, this is not supposed to be a sideways referendum on anyone. This is just the facts.
-
As you can see from my previous post, they changed the language on the web site. At least it’s for the good this time.

Your math appears to work out.

Miscommunication. I thought you were comparing the attendance of Carowinds and KI. I doubt Carowinds draws more than KI, but I think Canada does.
-
I’m not sure if we can say with authority that CW has less attendance than KI. My gut instinct says you’re right, but I don’t know if we’ve seen it on paper. Even so, both parks are in the company’s top 4. I think what happened was that KI was very fortunate to have their anniversary first, and then they saw the budget and wanted to know what they could do without for the next one. KD may really get the short end of the stick.

Many have posted about getting surveys. They addressed that as well. Essentially they wanted to see what the pain points are (what can they cut without people caring). Please be mindful of this when filling one out.
-
This note was addressed on the call and is and will be very relevant. The next two years will very much be gearing up for it. In fact, I could see an argument that it’s already happening. They need to pay down in the short term to avoid revolving the full amount at an interest rate that cuts deeply into the bottom line. By the way, I don’t want you to think that I’m talking down to you or anything. It’s just that I say what I say for a reason. Trust me - I do not want doom and gloom for the park or the company. I’m just worried that people will look at the results and think, “oh good, not as bad as we thought” and get blindsided when the cuts continue. Believe me - I hope I’m wrong.

The person updated their post to say that some associates are saying yes, some are saying no. There’s a big difference between “you can’t do that” and “as of today you are no longer able to do that.” One tells me they may not know it’s an option, the other tells me that they were told it was no longer an option.

What was the increase in park per capita spending? What was inflation rate for the period?
-
I may be making something out of nothing: https://www.cedarpoint.com/blog/2022/guide-to-2023-season-passes?fbclid=PAAaYXI78Bd4R8_Ojra7c-HVqF87D-BOPSfDBgXO7Aunr1ys1eqdSNJ9IGfjA_aem_AXEwMZMukj5izPvbBtIyK3IBBTN7qvTkEZ8hy8YHJzDKndx0Hp9rrsiJm58LpVqXf3k This lists a 10% discount for food, bev and merchandise for Gold. For Prestige, it only lists a 15% discount food and bev. Does Prestige no longer get a 15% discount on merchandise?

Not to downplay the people that are in there now. They’re all VERY hard working people that do make a huge impact! I’d take any one of them over Carmen Electra in the HOF.
-
They HOF that you are talking about was originally done somewhere in the park. Showplace first year then front of the park the next year. They did the hand print thing and those blocks ended up in Tower Gardens in the planters. Then it was added to the wall to the left of the Kings Island Theater. TBH, it looked like a mausoleum. Then it disappeared and we would see things about it on various social media, as they made the ceremony private and I think they did a diner. This is why it’s in HR and not customer-facing. The people that were inducted was an odd choice. Gary Wachs and Dennis Speigel make sense because of their contributions to the park and the industry. But Carmen Electra didn’t even fulfill her contract in entertainment. All of her contributions to the world were after KI. They also had some talking head radio hosts inducted. About half were, “did you know they worked here???” inductions. This was obviously just a PR stunt, but there are dozens of people who should have been inducted but they decided to forego them in favor of people that had almost no impact on the park.

Believe it or not, I found out AFTER everyone else… and he and I do podcasts EVERY WEEK!!!

Plus enthusiast events, media days, etc. It’s about the relationship with certain voting parties. Legacy helps too. To clarify, Amusement Today doesn’t hand-pick the GTA winners; however, their staff and their picked voters have a huge weight in the voting poll. The rest is peppered in by AT subscribers, with a lot of the voting population being enthusiasts. Notice how Prowler beat Diamondback for best new ride. Remember how almost no enthusiasts were invited to DB’s media day? That was the retribution. Remember Banshee’s media day? Everyone was invited to the “Best New Ride of 2014,” if you catch my drift. Not to beat a dead horse but with the relationship that enthusiasts have had with the park for the past five years, how did Orion finish for “Best New Ride of 2021?” (no GTAs in 2020) I get that some were disappointed, but how did it finish fifth? Oof. But yeah, there are a lot of factors that go in, but I’m sure a few ad-buys wouldn’t hurt. In fact, there are full page ads from parks thanking AT for their GTA in the issue that announces the winner. Conspiracy???

In defending KI’s comms director, you got them convicted as the person who is responsible for what happened. Nobody from any group including KIC needs to kiss Chad’s ass so they can go to media events or be on a press release list. If he removes people and groups from inclusion in media events and lists because something negative about the park or him was said, or blocks people on social media for asking basic questions, he’s the wrong guy for the job and KI and CF are the ultimate losers, not those groups and people.
