The American Coaster Enthusiasts and Paramount's Kings Island teamed up this past Saturday to create a "spooktacular" event featuring ERTs, EHTs and special events involving PKI's FearFest celebration! Needless to say, the PKIC crew was on hand to bring you the best of the best in this event! This event included: A Flight of Fear Lights-On ERT Lights On Tour in Maze of Madness Lights On Tour of the PsychoPath Beast Backstage Tour EHT (Exclusive HAUNT Times) on the Headless Hallow & RL Stein's Fear Street ...and of course, a midnight ERT on The Beast Click here to see our latest Fearfest and Beast Bash photos! Click here to see a FearFest tribute video (sorry, no Kid Rock in this one). A special thanks goes out to ACE and PKI's marketing dream team for organizing such an awesome event. PKIC would also like to give special recognition to Russ Johnson, the local ACE rep, for welcoming the staff of PKIC to the event to bring you this type of coverage. Thank you! Regards, Ryan

I talked to JJ from Nexigen as soon as I realized it was down and he explained that they were upgraiding on site in Cleveland. He assured me that it would be up within the hour, which it was. I guess you can't really expect a server to be up ALL of the time... Nexigen is up 99.9999% of the time (that's a literal number) which is one of the best in the industry.

After the ice rink, there was a show there which had a two level stage. The bottom was removed, but the top was covered by screens 1, 2, and 3.
-
Actually, I was filming in one of the houses and a manager came in and instructed me to stop. I had heard from a member of entertainment that you were allowed to film so long as you don't use a flash or a light, but apparently that's not true.

Why dont post count?
BoddaH1994 replied to The-Snapper's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
It's actually very simple: Being a PKI community, our goal is to have open discussion about PKI. The community forums are there just so you can post about other things, but is a side of the forums that's definitely a byproduct. Now, although the post count is entirely meaningless in your abilities, a lot of people take it seriously, so if you're going to have a high post count, it's because you're an asset to the PKI side of discussion (being a PKI board). This also prevents spamming. All in all, it's the way it's always been and seems to work. Does that clear things up? -
After a LONG day of doing a filming for National Geographic on The Beast and then attending Fearfest's dry run day, I have the first of what will be many Fearfest updates! Click here to see the photos! When Fearfest opens its gates on October 1st, it's going to be bigger and better than ever! Not only do you get to see new amazing haunted attractions like the Headless Hallow and RL Stein's Fear Street, but now you get to experience PKI's new CornSTALKERS just by walking down the midway! You're never safe when the fright by night hits at FEARFEST! Muaahaaa!! Other notes: Border Cafe' has been replaced by Skyline Chili The signs and curtains in the Festhaus are now all down and the old stage is exposed! If you like fog, this is your Fearfest! As we left, you could see a mushroom cloud of fog coming from the park! Best wishes (you'll need them!) Ryan "the psycho slasher" Suhr

In this Issue (Thursday, September 29, 2005) New Lineup of Horrors Pack FearFest Event Nickelodeon™ Universe to Premiere in 2006 PKI Serves Options for all Budgets "Handy Smurf Will Build Us A New Ride" Upcoming Events Unsubscribe/Contact Information New Lineup of Horrors Pack FearFest Event Historically, the return of FearFest marks the transformation of the world’s most popular seasonal theme park into something a bit more dark and sinister. The apparently seamless transformation into the Midwest’s largest Halloween event is a result of weeks of preparation. The majority of planning and construction is executed by teams of PKI employees and outside companies who specialize in scaring unsuspecting guests within inches of their existence…and this season is no different. A collection of carpenters, electricians, and others have worked weeks ahead to prepare returning favorites to the FearFest lineup as well as to the new lineup of horror filled attractions. This year's FearFest is sure to continue the terrifyingly terrific tradition into its sixth year with the addition of six new attractions. Topping the list of new FearFest additions is R.L. Stine’s Fear Street. Guests can experience the fear-filled stories of this Ohio native author as they come to life in a walk-through nightmare complete with menacing characters lurking in the darkness. Additionally, in Superstition, Elvira Mistress of the Dark invites you inside her virtual 'Scream Park' for the ride of your afterlife. This 3-D experience will be featured in the Action FX Theater in Coney Maul. The remainder of the new attractions and additions reveal themselves under the cloak of darkness in The Curse of Sleepy Hollow. The usually sleepy area of Rivertown has become cursed and is tormented by the Headless Horseman. He gallops throughout this area and has many surprises in store for guests as they travel through the unknown. Tickets for FearFest are now available online at pki.com for over 40 percent off regular price! For more information on FearFest, click here. Tell us about your last trip to the park, win up to $1,000 We really want to know about your last trip to the park! Participate in our online Guest Satisfaction Survey and you'll be entered in a drawing to win two tickets to the park or one of a hundred prizes ranging in value from $25 to $1,000. See a list of past winners. Thank you! Nickelodeon™ Universe to Premiere in 2006 Paramount’s Kings Island will blast guests off into 2006 with the addition of the Nickelodeon Universe! The premiere of this new Mecca of family fun will improve upon the already top kid’s area in the world as ranked by Amusement Today for the last 5 years. The new Nickelodeon Universe will include a total of 18 new rides and attractions, and will boast six all-new attractions to make the most elaborate collection of Nickelodeon inspired rides and attractions in the world. Nickelodeon Universe will include an Avatar-inspired family roller coaster plus a whirlwind of adventures perfect for thrill-seeking families. Kids can enjoy a free-fall ride in hopes of escaping the menacing miscreant, Plankton while all family members will be able to fly through the air like Danny Phantom. Other new attractions include a jumping journey with a Blue and Dora the Explorer inspired attraction that will be part of an entire neighborhood designated solely to Dora within the new Nickelodeon area. Moreover, SpongeBob SquarePants will also have plenty to offer in his own neighborhood full of underwater fun. Stay tuned for future issues with details on PKI’s Nickelodeon Universe! 2006 Season Pass Offers Endless Fun-filled Days! Time is running out on our better than ever deal for the 2006 Season Pass! PKI Serves Options for all Budgets by Trina Bellotti, Park Guest Bungee jumping and wave boarding! These may sound exciting, but with gas prices on the rise and numerous single-parent homes, penny pinching has become the newest extreme sport. With a little creativity and planning, a family can have a fun-filled day at Kings Island. I’ve compiled a few money-saving tips to help families enjoy PKI regardless of their budget. Purchasing tickets for the family is step one. If you intend to visit the park a few times over the course of the year, a season pass is an obvious way to save money. Part of the enjoyment of owning a season pass is that you don’t feel as though you need to spend every moment at the park. Often, for example, my daughters and I eat lunch at home, spend about five hours at the park, and then make it back home for dinner. If a season pass is not an option, then there are other ways to save on tickets. If you purchase tickets in advance, either through www.pki.com or at local Blockbuster, Kroger or Meijer stores, you can save several dollars per ticket. With the unmistakable aroma of LaRosa’s pizza, Skyline Chili, and funnel cakes swarming about, it’s easy to succumb to your cravings and buy everything in sight. One way to save money on those tempting treats is to share a treat such as ice cream, a pretzel, or fudge in a nice shady spot on International Street. Many of the servings are quite large and are enough to feed two people, if not the entire family! After we have enjoyed some delicious treats and thrilling rides, my daughters still beg for a souvenir no matter how many times we attend PKI. I have a few suggestions for pinching that one last penny. First, give the kids a limit. Sometimes my daughters choose to spend their money trying to win a souvenir rather than purchasing one. Another option, especially for season passholders, is to buy a memento that they can, and will, bring back such as the spinning light toys. Another favorite is the souvenir photograph. Unlike some other more temporary options, a souvenir photo is something the family will have forever. Tickets, treats and trinkets are all part of what makes a trip to Paramount’s Kings Island memorable. Next time you’re wondering if you have the cash to visit King’s Island, employ some of these tips and you’re sure to have an incredible time while leaving ample money to fill the gas tank for the drive home! If you'd like to be a guest writer for the Kings Island Newsletter, click here to submit an article idea. Relient K at PKI Oct. 8th! This is your last chance to buy tickets for PKI's Fall Celebration. Audiences alike can expect a great day of live music featuring Relient K and MxPx with special guest Rufio. Paramount’s Kings Island will be open from 10am to midnight. Fall Celebration performances will begin at 7pm. The combination concert ticket includes admission to Paramount’s Kings Island and all the concerts in the Timberwolf Amphitheatre. Tickets are on sale now! "Handy Smurf Will Build Us A New Ride" When I was a young girl my family went to Kings Island quite often. There were 7 children so it was always a fun and exciting trip. The ride we all loved the most was the Smurf Ride. After hours of walking around the park in the hot sun, that was the ride to go to. It was always funny because my family would split up in groups depending on the rides we most liked to ride, and we would always unintentionally find ourselves meeting at the Smurf Ride during different periods of the day! One year my older and wiser sister gave us some bad news. She told us that the Smurf Ride was no longer there. My other sisters and I were devastated. The next morning we got up bright and early. Who could sleep when a trip to Kings Island was only hours away? Plus, we had to devise a plan to get the Smurf Ride back. So, being children we decided we would make signs such as "Bring Back The Smurf Ride" and "Handy Smurf Will Build Us A New Ride". We made these signs on our mother's paper plates. We held tight to our signs most of the way to the park. As we got closer to Kings Island and our excitement increased, we somehow forgot about our hand made signs. And, as we left the car, we also left our signs! Although I still think of the Smurf Ride often and all of the fond memories, I realize that Kings Island is not just about one ride - it's about the memories made with my family. Tina M. from Cincinnati, OH will receive two tickets to Paramount's Kings Island. Winners are randomly selected. Submit your entry! 2005 Nick or Treat - Saturdays and Sundays in October Children are invited to dust off their costumes and parade over to Paramount's Kings Island at 11am every Saturday and Sunday in October for kid-sized haunts and boo-rific Nickelodeon fun. The Midwest’s most elaborate family Halloween event features seven spooktacular attractions, and is free with park admission. 2005 Nick or Treat runs Saturdays and Sundays only from Oct. 1st – October 30th. Stay tuned for our next issue in two weeks! Source: PKI e-newsletter

^ All of the above is taken into consideration. Our Fearfest celebration is far from over. -
We wouldn't be considered credible enough for any real news agency to use our info.

Don't bother responding to him, he's already banned. On the other hand, since he spammed your forums, feel free to make good use of his e-mail address which is rexsharpe@hotmail.com .

Funny stuff, George! Maybe they'll do a special from PKIC when we call Target 5 about spotting a wussy in the park!
-
How dare you come on here and insult the community like that. You're talking bout reading comprehension, but your post barely made sense in itself. ^ This post doesn't even make any sense. Now I highly recommend you read our Terms of Service before posting again. Regards, Ryan PKIC Staff

With the 2006 announcement, it seems like the matter at hand has been burried in the news: Don't forget that there is a television filming Wednesday and Thursday at PKI for National Geographic. Everyone is welcome to attend, but please e-mail Maureen Kaiser (Maureen.Kaiser@paramountparks.com) and let her know that you intend to be there so she can put you on the list. Also, this Saturday ACE presents Beast Bash 2005 which is open to ACE members and their guests. Click on the above links for more information!

She's right. Fearfest stuff is just an added perk to visit PKI in the offseason. Now on the other hand, they will be useless when Winterfest rolls around.
-
There only in certian atttractions that scare. Note: If you touch them they will touch you back. Just to let you know I doubt that's true. That's a lawsuit waiting to happen. If you touch a character, security may touch you, but the character won't. The general rule of thumb is DON'T TOUCH THE CHARACTERS! Just follow that.

Go to Klockster's link, we're already discussing this wussy.

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
BoddaH1994 replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
I agree entirely. I think Paramount Parks puts way too much thought into this stuff to have it just written off as a kiddy area. Just wait and see... -
I'm not sure how much they sold and how much they kept, but they had a ton of stuff packed away behind the GR office last year.
-
I was just watching NBC news (the local one) and it had the speal about a guy who went to PKI, complained about poor service and they offered him free tickets. When he went to pick up the comp tickets, the word "wussy" was hand-written on the envelope. Now, get this: he's blaming the guy who dealt with him at GR... but he called up there to compain. His name is something like Lusby, which I supposed could be heard over the phone as "Wussy" (Heck, I had a teacher a couple of years ago named Weiner). So what does he do? He calls Target 5 and wasted their time (although obviously they don't realize that), and he wasted the viewers' time as well. They had a comment from Jeff saying that they're trying to get to the bottom of this so it won't happen again, and offered him free tickets. He still seems to be mad about it, but the verdict, according to Channel 5, is that the case was closed. So anyway, I'll try to get you a text copy of the report, but I want to close saying thank you. Thank you Mr. Lusby (or whatever). You walked into a place that has entertained millions of people, naturalized foreign men women and children into Americans, donated countless dollars to countless orginizations through PKI Cares, opened its doors to the hurricane victims, almost entirely funds the Kings schools district through its tax revenue, and has been an advocate to the people of Cincinnati... thank you for making that place look bad... wussy.

Kings Island to Overhaul Children's Area for 2006
BoddaH1994 replied to ZosoBeast's topic in Kings Island Central Newsroom
They have a lot of area to play with. They have the whole footprint that Ghoaster Coaster had, and the area behind it including such things as the Alleycat 500, or even as far back as the little train ride. There are few limiters with this... they'll tear down trees and stuff as needed. That is a very interesting point. Since we really don't know much of anything about this attraction, it's hard to see exactly how it will be layed out. My personal guess is that it's going to be something very similar to what we have no, only revamped and modernized. I really hope not. Why have a straight waterpark ride in a dry park? I hope is a well-themed dark ride attraction. You guys are fortunate to be fans of a park that is commited to the guest experience. Yes, PKI always has somethign going on... but where... and when??
