This question isn't intended in bad taste at all, but was anyone in the park the fateful day when 3 people lost their lives? A friend of mine was there, but all he remembers is that it was kind of chaotic. I'm just curious as to how the park would handle a situation like that. -Ryan

Does anyone know what they advertised as the big attraction in 2001? According to the history on this web page, it quotes: "2001 -- Kings Mill Log Flume returns completely overhauled and re-themed as a Nickelodeon adventure. Flight of Fear receives new lapbar restraints, replacing the old OTSRs making the ride more enjoyable." I don't remember the Wild Thornberry's ride being advertised on TV. Was there a big attraction that year? I had a season pass in 2001, but I'm totally experienceing a 'brain fart'. Thanks, Ryan

Oh, I totally agree that it should be done. Just make sure that it's got more of a "We're here to have fun, this is how we make sure everyone has fun" theme to it as opposed to a "While you're here, you WILL obey OUR rules" theme. They both get at the same points, but why have such a downer to start such a great day?

Yeah, it does kind of have a "we're watching you" sound to it. Just make sure you end it on a positive note, and it'll be good.

I wish it were possible to bring back the old intro from the Outer Limits days. Do you guys remember when they would say "We control the horizontal and the vertical" and the ship would project horizontal and vertical lines onto the wall? I wish they'd make it more with aliens and stuff as opposed to having bad actors playing milirtary people playing bad jokes on eachother.

Land value + rides/buildings/whatever + necessary rights to logos will probably be upwards of $500 million.

Yeah, not to mention that for all we know they could be building a new warehouse back there or something. Plus, it probably wouldn't hurt to announce a new ride now considering that 2004 season passes are on sale now. Before they start construction of anything new, I think we'll know about it.

Ah, there are trucks back there a lot. There are buildings and stuff that I assume are for storage. I guess an employee would be able to tell you better than I would.

As far as it goes though, most of CP (the rides) has been constructed in the last 31 years, so in that regard it is a very fair comparison. You are entirely correct about that. The only thing you have to keep in mind is that while CP was already established in 1972, PKI had just finalized their contracts and things like that. You know, basic startup costs. I'm sure just getting the park started was a distraction from trying to make the park better. Obviously, if they really wanted to, they could have towering rollercoasters like CP, but it's a matter of approach. Oh yeah, and people quit fighting!
