I got to the park around 7:00 or so. I figured that I would get enough ride time in to be worth my drive from Northern KY. When I arrived in the park, I noticed that a good portion of the parking lot was full. I counted on that seeing as to how it was a Saturday evening. When we first entered the park, we decided to ride Adventure Express first. The reason behind that was because the sign outside listed it as being closed for the day, and it was kind of one of those "don't want it until you can't have it" situations. Of course it was opened reguardless of what the sign said. I've never known those info signs to be extremely accurate anyway. I assumed that it would be the usual walk-on. Well, in all reality, I ended up waiting for it for almost 20 mins. It doesn't sound like a lot, but in comparison to the rest of the season (excluding BAFF days) the line was extremely long. I'm sure if it wasn't for the 110% awsome crew that runs that ride, the wait would have been much longer. Anyway, after that, we headed over to Rivertown to ride The Beast. The line was also extremely long as expected, so we continued to walk through RT. We eventually just ride the train to Water Works and back. The train ride was interesting because I hadn't ridden it in five or so years and it was dark, so it was like a mini trek through the woods. After our train ride, we headed over to The Vortex. The line was about to the end of the fence--not bad at all. While in line, this drunk guy started talking to me and my brother. He first refused to believe that my brother and I are related (despite the fact that we have been mistaken for eachother several times) and then tried to hook me up with his sister. Oh yeah, I should mention that his sister was probably about 25 years older than me. After about a 20 min wait, we finally got to ride. After The Vortex, we decided that it was dark, so no matter what, it was time for The Beast. My brother and I came to find out that The Beast's line was much shorter than before. It seemed to be about a half hour wait...boy was I wrong. Every single darn queue was opened! The line went to about the drink machines, and due to the queues, was about a two hour wait! I know I'm *****ing a lot, but I guess I've been spoiled by the near walk-ons this season. Anyway, after we got off the ride, we were walking down the exit and there was a skunk under the track where the train exits the station. I just thought that was cool because I'd never seen one in the wild before. We had about 15 mins until the park closed, so we decided to try our luck on Delirium. Fortunately, only 2 queue lines were opened, so the wait wasn't more than about a half hour. Of course, the wait would have been about 10 mins had the whole speal "You will be assigned a seat number, please sit in that seat and only that seat" not been too lofy of a concept for some of the guests. I always thought that they should make you take an IQ test before entering the park. If you score below a 50, then you have to stay in Nicelodean Central. Those are the people who sit in the wrong seats on Delirium, step on the fenders on The Vortex, line jump, lose control of their basketballs, etc, etc, etc. Anyway, the fireworks went off while we were on the ride, which is always cool. I guess normally I would have been slightly disappointed with the day, but I hadn't been to the park in nearly 3 weeks. So, I heard you guys post for months now to avoid Saturdays. Well, I realize that you guys weren't kidding now. I figured the park would die down between 8 and 9 or so, but boy was I wrong.

I miss Water Works already. j/k Actually, I miss Phantom Theatre. The ride was amazing. The best part was watchig the Maestro play while waiting in the queue lines. I remember how the Maestro used to turn his head back and forth and kid of shift his body around. It actually gave the illusion that he was really playing the pipe organ. It's just a shame that they let the ride go to hell the past few years of operation. Then to add shame to all of it, they put in the Scooby ride, which in my opinion, is extremely crappy in comparison.

I miss the Flight Commander. I used to take it up really high and flip it continuosly to scare the crap out of my sister.
-
Yeah, that would be cool. I wasn't making a comment about your spelling of Delirium, sometimes they specifically misspell words for one reason or another i.e. Xtreme Skyflier
-
What exactly do you mean by Dilirium?

This is the first I've heard of this web cam. Perfect North has similar thing. I would love to see it back up. It would be awsome if it were up during the winter, so you can see the park with snow on it. I'd like to see more than the 3 or 4 pictures we got last winter.

Yes, the northern part of Ohio. Areas like Toledo and Cleveland. So, were CP and SFWOA affected? What happend over at those places, maby we'll see it on the news sometime soon? I wouldn't doubt it. There hasn't been anything on the news about it or anything as far as I know.

Ok, it's time to find out what YOU think is in store for the future of what we now know as Water Works. Oh yeah, and wasn't someone dropping clues about a bridge and Star Trek? Perhaps that could tie in.... oh well, what do you think??

I think they should have the option to buy waterworks only 1 day passes at a low cost, but still include it in general park admission.
-
I agree with most of you, Water Works won't die. They're going to retheme it and stuff. Personally, I don't know how entirely much I like the themeing. I kind of like having rides with origional names and stuff, it kind of takes me back to the classic American theme park. -Ryan

I bet if they uses them, they won't be working. They're run by a computer and it takes a lot to set them up and reprogram them. I would love to see them again though. I really doubt they'd sell them because probably there's something with them that they don't want the public to know, like how they work or whatever. I'm sure it's pretty obvious to figure it out, but I'm sure they don't want Disney buying all of them to compare designs.
-
hmmm...I wonder what they're doing with the props, does anyone know?
-
I agree with you trespassing is harsh. Then again, I'm sure they don't really want to charge people with it, they just need to set an example to show that they're serious.

Yeah, when we did the TR:TR filmings in June, we were in the park around 7:30 or so. There were semi-trucks pulling up to the resteraunts. Now, I know those driver's can't see much, plus I was impressed by the fact that they could even get the trucks back there. I remember thinking that it was thunder every time the truck would hit the bridge in Rivertown. So anyway, if you're behind the ropes, and a truck comes, a lot of times there's nowhere to go.

Care to Share? I had the same speil. Basically the trick is to have the center of gravity always the same. So instead of climbing the ladder like you normally would, you do something like: Right hand, Right food, Left Hand, Left foot. If you switch back and forth, it screws up the center of gravity and makes it flip over.

Do you guys strictly patrol the park during the regular season, or do you hold down the fort during the off season too?

Ha, you heartless punks. As you read Dane's post, actually Shaggy's post, you were probably hoping that PKI didn't get sued. You muggles... Yeah, but that is sad that two men who went to rescue the guy in the fountain died or any of the victims. I don't mean to be heartless. In the business that PKI is in, they have to be a little on the apathetic side sometimes.
-
Oh, I agree with you totally. Hypothetically speaking, it's much nicer to think that an accident occured at the park as opposed to a death, which occured elsewhere as a result of the accident.
-
I assumed that there was something that they could advertise to the general public. Not everyone has kids. The kiddy attractions have to be a big draw. I mean, look at how they're advertising Scooby Doo when they got an awsome ride like Delirium.
-
Awsome use of the dictionary, Crispy! Thanks for the post, Dane. Oh yeah, and death can be determined on the scene, at least in KY. A paramedic can determine a DOA in this state, I'm not sure about Ohio though.

This question isn't intended in bad taste at all, but was anyone in the park the fateful day when 3 people lost their lives? A friend of mine was there, but all he remembers is that it was kind of chaotic. I'm just curious as to how the park would handle a situation like that. -Ryan

Does anyone know what they advertised as the big attraction in 2001? According to the history on this web page, it quotes: "2001 -- Kings Mill Log Flume returns completely overhauled and re-themed as a Nickelodeon adventure. Flight of Fear receives new lapbar restraints, replacing the old OTSRs making the ride more enjoyable." I don't remember the Wild Thornberry's ride being advertised on TV. Was there a big attraction that year? I had a season pass in 2001, but I'm totally experienceing a 'brain fart'. Thanks, Ryan

What kind of training do they give you to be security at PKI?
