  1. SonofBeast.com used to take you to the Son of Beast page way back in 1999. Their was a computer video of what the ride was going to be like. Man I am old.
  2. So the Zorba ball thing is gone. Does anyone have a picture of what they are digging up? Could we see a new ride in this area next year?
  3. Wish this would come to Kings Island and they could theme it to The Bat. I can see one going in Bush Gardens if this concept works out.
  4. Kings Island when it opened in 1972 was a theme park. In 2010 Cedar Fair is saying its a amusement park.
  5. Vortex

    Favorite B&M Hyper?

I would vote like this Nitro, Diamondback, Behemoth and Apollo's Chariot. The only reason I liked Nitro better than Diamondback is the bunny hops at the end.
  6. Hope the free sunscreen station is their the rest of the summer. I forgot mine last time and I was all red. Wonder if they refill my Water Works cup from opening year.
  7. The park did do something for the 25 anniversary. It was where Ski Lab was they had The Bat Sign and a lot of old pictures and maps up from different years. If the park still had this it would not take that much to put it up for the 40th. Wonder if its still sitting in the park warehouse or did people take the maps and pictures.
  8. Glad I got my ride last year on GASM. I did remind me of Vortex some.
  9. Their will be a new Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World coming in two years. The new area just broke ground.
  10. The Sky ride at Cedar Point only is in the front of the park. You can walk a little and ride the train to the back of the park.
  11. I have a Son of Beast pin but it has Paramount Parks and a loop on it. Might have to pick up the train pin to go with the Disney one.
  12. The Scooby Doo was my frist big coaster at the age of 4.
  13. I think it would be great if they could get the kids from Glee to do a show at Kings Island for a day.
  14. I do have a book about Coney Island on the last page it reads coming soon Kings Island. The book is alittle older so no idea if the Coney book made money or not. Might be why the Kings Island was never made.
  15. If Flight Deck did have Vampire's original trains the GP would think they rebuilt The Bat. So this year only four Arrow suspended coasters left Iron Dragon, Flight Deck, Vortex, and Ninja. I am not counting Vampire as it has Vekoma coaster cars now.
  16. Shaggy you should ask on the 5 for 5 thing if they still have The Beast Tamer Photo and the Story that has the sign on it.
  17. Wow I do have a picture some where on my old computer with a coming soon poster out side the Enchanted Voyage's that list the date. I have no idea when I can get the old computer back up but I will look when I get time. I found the picture my brother has it the date is 1984 you can see the Enchanted Voyage in the back ground. Also the picture was taken in 1983 and you can see people in line for the ride.
  18. Did you get to walk around the train barn or did they just back in one of the train cars? I can see Kings Island doing something like this for little kids in school down the road.
  19. Just be happy FOF is still open at Kings Island. If Paramount had their way it would be at another park.
  20. If your staying at a Universal hotel your Universal Express is free just show them your hotel key.
  21. http://www.amusementtoday.com/ The debate now (going on at Theme Park Review) is whether or not Texas Giant is still a wooden roller coaster. Technically, it appears to be a unique twist on the hybrid idea of Gemini, and sort an opposite of the short-lived The Villain at Geauga Lake. I don't think that this would be a fix for Son of Beast since most of the problem seems to be the structure and not the track itself, but this is certainly something to look into should the owners of the park seek a major overhaul. It would almost surely reduce the roughness of the ride. Of course, the structure could also be replaced with steel a la The Villain, which would technically leave it a wooden roller coaster (to save its records) and probably also drastically reduce roughness. Texas Giant's new rails, from the above linked Amusement Today article. The Villain's wooden track with steel supports. Sorry if this is old-news.. I don't think it is? But even if it is, I don't believe it's been discussed in relation to Son of Beast. You got the wrong picture on top. Here you go http://www.amusementtoday.com/image/March2010/TxGiantQuad.gif
