  1. I really don't see cp running out of room, that place is pretty big, they do from time to time relocate rides within the park to make room, there is always room you just have to be creative.
  2. This may be the 1st coaster ever that i will be afraid of, I love em tall and fast but I hate facing the ground, that's why i can't handle delerium scares the crap out of me.
  3. I guess this means there will be no investment this year in a restaurant
  4. Not really, I think this will have little bearing on how many people visit all their parks. Their investment in the parks is the only thing that can effect the 14 million visitors. I really don't think too many people will not attend Kings Island next year because the coats went to sandusky I don't think this one event would have too much of an effect either. I was more referring to your business advice of "promoting one business over another" in your post about what you'd do as a business owner... I was pointing out that isn't a course of action a large international company would want to follow. Especially when no single park in your chain is responsible for more than 20% of your overall revenue... But, Woofer is right--corporate good (or bad) will is a very powerful force. GL is still suffering the consequences of some PR missteps in the early days of CF's ownership. They had a great opportunity to make some good press with the 1.8M residents of the Cincy MSA...but, oh well--they got some great press with the 28,000 residents of Sandusky instead (who already loved Cedar Fair anyway). My point was you can still favor your flagship park, and the people of Sandusky who made you a success, that may be putting good will above business, but the point is, it will all come down to investment in the park, if they do the right things investing in the park, that will do a heck of a lot more in advertising to bring people in then coats. I think people over react, it was just a nice gesture to Sandusky by the time april rolls around whether it went to sandusky or the queen city it will all be forgoten

  6. I don't blame Cedar Fair at all, i'd do the same thing. They own the coats why wouldn't they want to put their flagship parks name on it. Cedar Point will always be number one to Cedar Fair, why wouldn't be, it's the reason they exist. That doesn't mean the other parks won't benefit from their ownership. If I owned a business, and due to the success of that business, I was able to by another, I'd always want to promote the business that got me where I am over the others, it's only natural. It's no secret that the residents of Sandusky kept Cedar Point in business, when it was close to folding in the 50's with most of the other older amusement parks, that being the case I'd want to donate to them above the rest, without them Cedar Point wouldn't exist today.
  7. Bring back the tumblebug, I used to love that as a kid, and why exactly did they get rid of it's replacement the sky lab, I loved that ride.
  8. tempted, but i never get used to cold water, i'm a freeze cat, infact I'm cold right now will consider the whole park, but will definately try the heated one.
  9. It's not pedal boats at Cedar Point like coney island it's called paddle wheel (not paddle boat like my original post) excursion, it's like a tourist boat ride, they have a couple boats each of witch is run by employees, no pedalling required. Each boat holds about 20 people. http://www.cedarpoint.com/public/park/ride..._excursions.cfm
  10. I emailed east of chicago once and told them it would be great to see them open a location in cincinnati, they replied saying thanks for the compliment, but we have no plans I get tired of the fast food pizzas around here, that stuff always taste so good, I also miss Mr. Gatti's
  11. I'll have to try it, i'm excited about the possibilities
  12. Totally agree with this post. My parents always go with me to Cedar Point and have a good time, they have plenty to do from the awesome train ride (Kings Island destroyed the train when the waterpark opened), the sky ride, paddleboat excursion, the spiral ride, 2 antique car rides to name but a few things, my parents won't ever come with us to Kings Island because there is absolutely nothing for them to do. Don't get me wrong I love bigger, faster, taller, but I also like variety. I like to be able to bring mom and dad and some rides we can ride together and have fun. Some suggestions, bring back: Sky Ride Antique cars Gullivers Travell I don't know how anyone can not like the train at cp, it's so long, scenic, has 2 depots and plenty of atmosphere, and it can quickly get you to the other side of the park. Funny story, the 1st time I went to Cedar Point, my parents were gonna ride the train while I rode a coster and we were to meet back up at the train depot they were gonna ride a couple of times, neither one of us realized there were 2 depots, I went to one, they got off on the other, took forever to meet up, kind of funny
  13. I've never been to the ki waterpark, primarily i guess because i don't like cold water, I noticed on pki's website it mentions a HEATED wave pool, exactly how warm is the water usually in this?
  14. I'd stay at the hotel breakers, depending on when you go you can get a room as cheap as $100, probably not on saturday though. If you're looking for cheap the best budget inn right by castaway bay right by the causeway you can often get a room for around $55 a night.
  15. I love Flight of Fear, but I wish it was pitch dark so you couldn't see the tracks, that would rock. I don't like delerium, or maxair at Cedar Point I much prefer chaos, that ride is crazy. Would rather we kept king cobra instead. Always a bad idea to take a coaster down and replace it with something that isn't a coaster. I heard a rumor sometime ago before Cedar Fair bought Kings Island that paramount was going to remove Flight of Fear and take it to a different park, was that true, if so they sold it in the nick of time
  16. I didn't think it was inverted someone else said it was when i said i wished they had a long inverted coaster. There my favourite kind at first I though x flight might be but i don't think it is too bad we need a good one.
  17. Top Gun is inverted but it's the old kind not the one's that go fast and upsidedown and thru corkscrews, those kind are awesome, I thought that was what face off would be, but it's pretty short, It's alright I just would have rather seen a long inverted masterpiece. It does remind me of the screamin demon it starts on one side goes down the hill thru the loop up to the other side than reverses the direction, much more updated but reminds me of it.
  18. argument not flawed, most grandparents do not want to ride the iron dragon, very true that is why they have many rides like the train, the sky ride, the paddleboat excursion, ferris wheel, the tilt a whirl, the calypso, 3 carousels, the woodstock express, the scrambler, 2 antique car rides, the spiral tower, matterhorn, monster, however the persons argument was about the kid rides not being thrilling enough for bigger kids, well if you want more thrills ride the bigger rides, if you want to ride with your grandparents there is plenty to do as mentioned above, you'd be hard pressed to come up with that many things grandparents can do at Kings Island, they keep taking those rides out. batStupendous89' date='Jan 28 2007, 04:07 PM' post='146007'] most kids 6 years and up are tall enough to ride costers such as iron dragon and a couple others, under 6 the other rides should be pretty fun Just because they're tall enough doesnt mean they want to ride it, I could ride The Beast at age 7...did I wanna try that? No. I didnt ride The Beast till I was 12 when I finnaly got over my fear of coasters. Plus there needs to be a variety for everyone. Grandparents want to take thier grand children to the park and share the day with them....I think theyd prefer more gentle rides as opposed to Iron Dragaon....and what about children with special needs....they may be tall enough for Iron Dragon but who knows if their condition permits them. Your argument is flawed and invalid.
  19. faceoff is way too short, i'd much rather they put in a full lenght inverted coaster than that updated version of the screamin deamon.
  20. paramounts did exactly one good thing, i think, and that was Flight of Fear, or was that before they were here
  21. most kids 6 years and up are tall enough to ride costers such as iron dragon and a couple others, under 6 the other rides should be pretty fun
  22. I completely respectully disagree, I think Cedar Point is the most family geared park, I mean they have so many things people of all ages can do together, at Kings Island my parents in their 60's can do very little. They don't have a descent restaurant, the train is a joke anymore just transport to water park, the shops stink, they took out milder rides like the antique cars, at Cedar Point my parents have plenty to do not to mention a lot of stuff they can do with their grandkids other than standing and watching. they have an awesome train to ride, nice shops, a nice boat ride, the skyride, 2 antique car rides, the spiraling tower, terrific shows, nice places to sit down and eat or have a coffee, things an entire family can enjoy together, as for kids how can you complain they have 2 kid coasters not to mention all the rides I mentioned older people can ride are good for kids too in addition to the childeren geared rides, Kings Island does have some cute kids rides added in the last few years, that doesn't mean cp doesn't have plenty for kids to do, plenty, Kings Island kids rides are great for older kids but they're almost a little wild for the real little ones 2 to 3 years old. Don't get me wrong I love Kings Island, but if I were taking my whole family all my elders would have absolutely nothing to do. I don't think they ever have said that Maverick was intended for the family? Also, by the looks of things, I'd say its safe to assume that PLENTY of families make the trek to the Point. Honestly, I feel they have more to offer in terms of family attractions than PKI does. The Point still has an outstanding collection of flat rides, most of which are very much family friendly. PKI's family friendly caters more to little kids......leaving the older kids out in the cold.....of course Avatar would be the exception to this. I think the Point has a well rounded selection and should change nothing in the way they are doing things. I'm still trying to figure out why they should get decent guest relating employees? I went to the Point way more than PKI last season and I've always had great experiences there...... - Todd Sure CP is a great park, dont get me wrong, I absolutely love it and enjoy it but its not geared towards the family in any way. Yeah they have some great flats but its only for the family if all your kids are over the age of 12. They claim to have two kiddy sections but in all honesty Wonder Park in the Cincinnati mills mall has more stuff for the younger kids. IMHO KI has a more well rounded selection. I've had great experiences with their rides and merchandise employees but Guest Relations was a pain to deal with when I went, quite the opposite at GL for me....at GL guest relations was great while thier rides employees for the most part were pretty lack luster. Flightofear1996, CP doesnt outsource most of their jobs, they're not sending any positions over seas. The jobs are still there, and yes many international workers come to work there, however they are not the majority in the park. Some Cedar Point fans are so used to record breakers that the see a high hill of 100 feet and think it's a kids ride, they don't realize that you have to do something different, this ride should have different thrills they can't just build another dragster and add a few feet, I like how low to the ground this will be i think you'll have the sensation like your going to hit the ground at 70 mph
  23. Too bad, a nice little coaster, would make all the difference there, nothing beast like or anything, just something, and that python thing is horrible, the car is so small everytime i try to ride it my knees feel like they need surgery after. However an occasional trip to coney island is neccessary to ride the tempest, that thing rocks if you get it going good. would be fun to ride that coaster with a swim suit
  24. I've heard so many people think that this is going to be a lame coaster because it isn't breaking any records, I've seen people post things like, i'm looking forward to having a mild ride i can take the whole family on, I think those people will be shocked, this going to be an awesome coaster.
