CEDAR FAIR IN TALKS OVER $4.1 BILLION TAKEOVER
raptor replied to The Interpreter's topic in Kings Island
I find it funny that the only major paper to post these articles are the ny post, I would think if there was anything to these rumors other papers would be talking. -
I can see why he would want to know, I wonder myself, now I know which day not to go, or at least wear red

I rode Son of Beast 2 days ago and I don't think i'll ever ride it again, First coaster I've said that about, I remembered it was rough from when I last rode it a couple years ago, but wow it ruined my day, I had such a splitting headache after getting off I couldn't ride for 2 hours and I never get headaches. When I was on I felt like someone was hitting me over the head with a baseball bat. From now on I'll ride The Beast instead of his bratty little son Last time I rode it I remember riding twice in a row so it must not have been as bad, but the other day it was brutal!

I guess they were great for kids, but adults and Seniors this is not so, how about removing just about ever non wild leisure adult ride that my parents could enjoy like the antique cars, the flying eagles, and others.

Sorry, I'm thrilled Paramount is gone, not to mention I'm tired of the movie theming crap, and the music is much better, every song doesn't have to be from a paramount movie, or at least it seemed like that used to be the case.

I'll cast my vote for snoopy coming to Kings Island over nickelodians latest fads, never like them, but I'm sure a lot of people do.

In what has become an annual tradition for me, I visited Stricker's Grove on the 4th. This is a really neat old-fashioned amusement park, It feels like a trip into the past. Luckily the rain held off for most of the day. It was good to see 4 new rides at the park, which shows that even though Mr. Stricker passed last year the family or orginazation is enthusiastic enough to invest in the little park. The first new ride I noticed was an elephant ride, looked like Dumbo with big ears that is not running yet, looks like a kid ride, but like most at stricker's grove adults can probably ride it as the seats look big enough probably. Looks like a ride that goes around in a circle and probably up in the air. It is in the spot of the old Crazy Daisy. There is also a new kids ride in the spot where the flat rides are that go in a circle, there is a new one with motorcycles and big cars on them. Thirdly they removed the old kiddie helicopters and put in another spinner called something like spinning apples. It's an enclosed spinner that goes in a circle and has a wheel to spin, kind of similar to the tip top without the bounce, but still nice to see another adult ride. Finally a major addition although my least favorite amusement park ride possibly ever is the Electric Rainbow which I suspect came from Americana. The same ride as the super roundup at coney island. This ride an older version of skylab where you stand up always hurts my head as the wind forced my head back against the metal but never the less is nice looking especially when it lights up at the end of the midway. As usual the food was great. The have great hamburgers, and there sundays (reasonably priced at 2.50) are great and so are there funnel cakes. The Tornado roller coaster is of course a great ride for very little wait, especially on that last hill where you kinda jump out of your seat a little, and the Teddy Bear is as good as it gets for a coaster for small tots. Of course I had to ride the junior whip, I used to love the whip. I miss the big one that use to be at Kings Island when I was a kid. And of course the best thing about going to Stricker's Grove for me is a chance to ride the Flying Scooters, the only place around that I know of where you can ride them, even though they are smaller than the eagles used to be still a treat and the wind was really whipping up yesterday. After a couple of brief storms, the firework display was very nice. Hopefully I'll make it back up there for family day in August.

I just fail to understand the concept of you shouldn't ride a ride if you don't wanna be drenched because it's a water ride which means you're suppose to get wet, sometimes that's the purpose, but that doesn't mean that is the only reason you make a ride on water. Water ride means you're suppose to be on the water. Before WWC type rides few water rides got you drenched (a few did). I rode the log flume many times since it was built and it did not have the elephant and did not get me soaking wet, does that mean it wasn't a water ride before? I don't mind getting wet if the wave hits me, but that is like someone walking up to you and squirting you with a water gun in the face, irritating, but it's a great ride I was just kind of curious what others opinions were It seems most people like it (at least on here) that being the case it should stay, and i'll still ride just not as much.
-
Well an amusement park in my opinion should have something for everyone, and if you wanna get wet you have wwc, and you have congo falls(which I do ride), but it would be nice if it had an alternative, especially for the older people who don't want thrills or getting drenchd like my mom who loves amusement parks but is to old for thrills, these type of things seem to be disapearing from Kings Island it's either kiddie stuff or wild, there should be a variety.
-
says who, there are many water rides you don't get wet on, you ride on a boat on the river you don't get wet, well unless you have serious problems, For many years amusement parks had water rides including log flumes, which you didn't get drenched on, I really don't mind getting somewhat wet as I said, I just don't want to get squirted in the face after the ride is pretty much over.
-
Hey could I take an umbrella on board, lol The poncho thing may not be a bad idea, Never realized that was what those were sold for at cp, I always assumed it was for rain. although I'd still rather see Dumbo fly away
-
I knew exactly what I was getting into, I knew I would get drenched, I'm not complaining because it took me by surprise I complaining because of my love for log flumes, that's what got me on, but I can still complain, I would ride it a heck of a lot more if not for the elephant, because I love log flumes. If they put it to a vote, and it would get voted out, seems to me they should take it out, If the majority of the people that go to the park want it there then it should stay, I just wish it wasn't there. I'm sure I'll ride it again, because I love the things but I'd certainly ride it a lot more if it wasn't there.
-
I wish they would turn all the lights off so I couldn't see the track at all, but it still my favorite
-
I think i'll start going on wed.
-
Yes other flumes do get you wetter, because they are bigger flumes, the ki is a relatively small one, but there is nothing more irritating then somebody waiting to spray you with a hose, The sad thing is I am a huge huge fan of log flumes, Just not a fan of being sprayed and from sitting there watching the ride I could tell well over 50% of the people looked irritated by it as well, obviously not the opinion here though and that's fine, just expressing my opinion.
-
Yeah but it ain't a water slide it's a boat ride, how about if you wanna get drenched goto the water park, for years and years log flume rides were out there and they didn't spray you with a hose. No i've never rode ww canyon, because i don't wanna get drenched. I rather go back in time and ride gullivers travel nice boat ride, didn't get drenched. Before the concept of spraying you with a hose I was the biggest fan on earth of log flumes, there can be a concept of riding on the water and not getting drenced, boats are fun it ain't nesicarilly about getting wet. Gee if the fact that I don't wanna get drenched means I should't be riding boat rides, than I guess Cedar Point is really screwing up by not drenching it's guest on it's paddle boat ride, what could they be thinking
-
yeah you can get wet on a water ride and that doesn't bother me if a wave bounces up, it's the intentional spraying of me that ticks me off, when I was a kid there were water rides all over the place that you didn't get drenched on, a little wet maybe sprayed with a hose no, you can get that in the waterpark, obviously i'm in the minority, every water ride has to be a drencher, can't just have a nice ride.
-
i agree-I have only ridden it once since then, and i won't ride it again. That ruined the ride. There is a difference between getting wett and getting drenched, I would hardly call it a thrill ride, big boat by the festhaus area is a thrill ride, jmo

I was in kiddie land and I noticed that the old log flume was still there, I didn't realize that it was. I use to ride that when I was a kid and I loved it, but like every water ride they have to ruin by putting that stupid elephant at the end to ensure you get drenched. That ruins it for me, I would ride that all the time if not for that, but that ruins it. Why is it in today's world that you can't have a nice water ride without having to get drenched. I noticed all the parents on it tried to duck and avoid it but it can't be done, so obviously most people would prefer to stay dry, yeah you get a little wet from the hill but not much. That would be a ride a Kings Island that my mom could actually ride as most of those are gone, (aka the antique cars) but she certainly won't if she's gonna get drenched. You know if I want to get soaked I would go to the waterpark. If the ride naturally gets me a little wet, so be it, but I don't wanna get sprayed, I think it's ridiculous. I guess if they still had the enchanted voyage, since it's a water ride they would have to ensure you got drenched at the end of it. One of things I love about Paddleboat Excursion at Cedar Point is that I can actually ride a boat water ride without getting drenched. There use to be a lot of rides that were that way when I was a kid, but I guess that can be no more, it's ashame because boat rides used to be among my favorites. I rode it and got my shirt drenched so I doubt I'll ride it again.

no wait at all, but that was the hour early entry to the park when only hotel guests and joe cool club members could get into the park and the majority of them went to the maverick. The longest wait I had for mf during that hour was 15 minutes. However 2 years ago when I went the park was dead on a rain threated friday night and I rode mf 3 times in 15 minutes that was unbelievable.

Delirium. Without a seatbelt as a secondary precaution just don't feel safe.
