  1. The company that came through and bought up Six Flag's cast-offs does not want HRP....That speaks volumes, not just of HRP, but also of our current economy.
  2. I can't wait for the days where I am surrounded by the best of my friends, either riding coasters at the park or spending the majority of my afternoons helping to create memories that last a lifetime and smiles that last all day!
  3. That is really a large mistake to make. Marketing also was a reason for HRP failing, as it is said, Cook good food and promote like mad. HRP didn't promote their dinner offerings, so few people savored the park. Cory, who is getting back to writing his final exam, a literary masterpiece (I wish) for his Business Ethics course...
  4. ^No fear, I'm sure it will be a great crew!
  5. This whole Dubailand project just reads "Heritage USA" to me, only without any religious ties and not ran by the Bakker's.
  6. ^DO NOT knock the Macy's day parade! I spend every Thanksgiving morning watching the parades of the day, and eating with my grandpa and my grandma. It may not be your cup of tea, but the parades, the food, and the football make for a day of memories that occasionally can be better, yes better, than a day at Disney, though by admittedly slim margins! Cory, who cannot wait for Thanksgiving day to roll around, and then the Winter Holidays like Christmas. The end of the year is near so grab yourself a cup of cheer!
  7. Sounds like you missed all the glory that is Busch Gardens Africa.
  8. I want to take a bet, how many times will we have typed the word coaster "erection" by the time this thread is closed?
  9. This is a Tremendous Trip Report! My family up until two years ago went twice a year, for Fall break and Spring Break. I was scheduled to go this past August, but alas medical issues prevented my family from going. Your photos have given me that itch to go even more than I already was longing too! WDW is just such a magical place, I cannot wait to go again! Thank you for taking us into your family and sharing your trip! It certainly gives me some ideas for my next trip!
  10. Be very, very, very careful how you use the term "insider trading". Yes, it really is that taboo! Trading of a stock by insiders of a company are filed WEEKS in advance, sometimes months in advance. He may have sold 30,000 shares officially on Oct 16 and 17, but I can nearly assure you that decision was made a while back, so it is not necessarily indicative of the his thoughts on the valuation of FUN stock currently. People sell stock for a variety of reasons completely independent of the prospectus of the stock they may own. They may be looking to pick up on a stronger trend on another stock or may just need the money for other endeavors. Decisions made by insiders are not always what they seem, and sometimes they are... As for me, the stock is at 17 in an industry seeing the major competitor doing poorly and Disney still holding their own in what was thought to be a tough year originally for profits. And yes that yield is financed by the banks currently. But if people were made to be pessimistic on opportunities then there would be no stock market, as no one would be buying Hey Railrider, I like my Investment coupons how about you? Even better is a buy one get one free that FUN is selling for in comparison to its 52-week high!
  11. And that is where the cost-outlay is...in the insurance. It is the same way with Demolition Derby Promoters. Anyone can put a demo derby on, but few can be successful at it like my parents were in the late 80's. Activities where people can be injured have astronomical insurance costs, and that can make starting them not feasible.
  12. This is not good for them. They are obviously playing with their pawns hoping that Cash Flows move the right way and the lenders relax. I will say that if you can save the money on the dividend, add to your net income and earning, impress investors, and relax the lenders; than a 10 percent interest rate on money that would need to be borrowed to pay back the PIERS could be a worthwhile investment. This does not look good however. The Redskins are doing well, maybe Mr. Snyder can give SIX some needed infusion of capital!
  13. Cramer, is occasionally off and occasionally right, his advice is right I would say somewhere around 4 out of 10 times. which in investment circles is decent. Being off 6 times doesn't mean you are losing money. He does reverse his ideas quite a bit though... I actually have a list that I have had compiled since April of stocks with a buy target and a sell target for each one. I have had FUN at buy around $17 and was waiting for this time. It's currently below 17 and the recreation/comfort companies (not necessarily hotel companies) have been doing well on earnings/profits, and gross margins. I have to reiterate what Cramer stated. Strong Buy in my book. And, for income investors, its price should not matter too much, that 10% yield is juicy. He was a little early in calling his bottom, it was a good educated prediction however, for long investors. Many indicators are showing the credit market easing, and producers of commodities i.e. farmers according to Monsanto still have easy access to credit. I am ready in my young, yet informed investment opinion to call a bottom on the market BUY, BUY, BUY!
  14. The best thing about 2008 is that my mom is still alive, and that I have met lots of really cool people this summer, and knocked a whole bunch of things off of my bucket list. Other than that, for all the hardships 2008 has brought to me personally and to my family, I am so glad that in a little over 2 months, this volatile and utterly inconsistent year will be over with. If I did pick a favorite memory from this year, there is a tie between hanging with my friends on KIC day and taking two trips up to Cedar Point with friends. To everyone who has helped me through this year, I thank you, you will never know how much it has meant to me when you have been there for me, or simply lent an ear to my family's health struggles and the likes. You know who you are, and I thank you!
  15. Let's see, high 30's....that sounds about right by December. The stock has routinely hit 28-30 recently with a large debt looming and uncertain earnings in these economically troubling times. Now that earnings look to be above average in these times for FUN and SIX, a price target of just 30 could be low. I have to agree with Railrider's assesment. Besides there is nothing like some cheap fun for those persons on here who had it as a buy below $17
  16. I miss Opryland, I still have two collectible ERTL die cast mint cars that I bought about 11 years ago from Opryland. They sit proudly atop my headboard in my room. www.thrillhunter.com has a great site dedicated to Libertyland and Opryland. I miss the Grizzly River Rampage. It was one of the best raft rides out there, easily on par with, if not better than Kali River Rapids at WDW'sAK
  17. Footprints would be neat. Remember Jeff Gramke said at KIC day that, "The Beast sells itself" read: low key
  18. Reverse splits can also trick casual investors into buying a stock that is otherwise unpopular due to its low stock price. On the other hand, lets not get too ahead of ourselves. Let's see how much cash SIX has on hand from this past quarter that they report on November 10, before we rush to judgments.
  19. The earnings call for SIX is on November 10, Six has longer than that to increase the share price before they get de-listed. If they have a quarter of free cash flow, as has been hinted at, and they give a positive outlook, investors will have confidence and drive the price up. Their big worry should be finding the cash to pay out the PIERS dividend. They have very little room to restructure their debt.
  20. But only marginally lower, Refinement costs still are high, and crude price comes down disproportionately to Gasoline price. (If Crude moves to 70, and Gas prices are still at $3.00 look for people to start filing complaints with/on OPEC) Talk about windfall.
  21. Such a great lesson to teach kids. It is ok to take candy from strangers...I have never understood Halloween! (Just kidding) Anyways, Ryan's photos don't quite do Howl-O-Fest justice. That Picnic Grove is absolutely packed day in and day out. The kids absolutely love it!
  22. Live to Be Free by Griffin House, reminds me of The Beast! I have that song and his others on my iPod to remind me of KI!
  23. Anyone notice that the beginning of the deterioration of the U.S. economy coincides with OSU's first National Championship loss? The U.S. economy will not return to its former self obviously until OSU wins another title, sadly, it looks like we are headed for a depression then [Grade "A" Sarcasm] Oh and according to the website for The Ohio State University...the website material is copyright to "The Ohio State University" not Ohio State University. Your preferred name is what you choose to be called, and your name on your birth certificate is your given name. Either one usually works!
  24. Haven't heard from him in a while... Gordon, I too seem to remember a large snake but it would have been so long ago, that I can't say for sure. There are so many attractions that have the theme similar to that of AE that I have ridden, so they all begin to run on each other. I seem to remember it being in the same tunnel as the moving spears.
  25. WhOa, that plan is cool! Did you make that yourself??
