I found a different parking garage that is pretty cool as well. I could see this one perhaps....
-
Okay so I am not in favor of a parking garage but they can actually be done very tastefully. I was trying to find a better picture of one that i have in mind but I could only find one from the top level.

^ dunno why but that pic makes me want to go swimming in the fountains

There seems to be several new Theme Parks on the drawing board. Here's a short list but I'm an unable to think of all of them right now. Which concept do you like best? "Ole South USA" - www.olesouthusa.com "BibleParkUSA" - http://www.murfreesboropost.com/news.php?viewStory=3688 "Decades" - www.decadesusa.com "Main Street America"- http://archives.record-eagle.com/2007/may/31themepark.htm "Wild Escape"- http://www.crystalmountainwv.com/ "The Grand Empire" - http://themeparks.about.com/gi/dynamic/off...orldresort.com/ Anyone else know several patriotic themes or names? Out of these the one that I most look forward to if it gets off the ground is "Ole South USA" it seems like a great concept.

^ Yes, indeed I have heard it. I've also heard though that BLMR will not be their new coaster so who knows except for CF really. I can see that going either way though. A ride like BLMR surely wouldn't cost too much. I think when your talking about some of the lower priced attractions when it comes to a park the calibur of Cedar Point they should pay the extra 500k for a new one. I may be very wrong on this but my thoughts....
-
Stuff like this actually gives me a bit more faith in Cedar Fair. It really seems like they like to keep their coasters in pretty good shape. Well at least they like to do a lot of work on them. Judging by the pics above IMHO it's a lot more work than that coaster deserves. Much like many of you think work on SOB was undeserved.

Official Poll: After One Season, do you prefer new SOB or old?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to BoddaH1994's topic in KI Polls
I voted for the old SOB. It was just definitely a "unique" experience. I never completely agree with the roughness factor. Then again I'm also the one that tells my friends that Thunderhead will be awesome in 20-30 years when it gets all shaky. I guess I somewhat like the roughness to an extent. That extent I like to call the Georgia Cyclone it's a bit much though I still like the ride overall. -
All this talk really makes me miss Lion Country Safari. I don't know why a lot of parks have moved away from a bigger experience. Just think KI could be part zoo, part amusement park, part waterpark, and all fun now. I guess it would of made the park more of a Busch Gardens type park but nothing wrong with that.
-
One thing to think about though.... Just because a ride has been recently updated doesn't neccesarily mean it's not going anywhere. You only have to look at Cedar Fair's recent past to see that. Serial Thriller ugh hmm I mean Thunderhawk was recently painted and is now being moved to MIA also Texas Twister was repainted to colors that match much more with it's new theme at it's new park. Also when BKF was turned into Dominator they left off the name plates on the front of the trains. I know I'm talking about Geauga Lake items but my point is that they done a lot of prep work on the rides while they were still in operation at it's current park. I do think it's more doubtful that they would be doing that at CP but it's just something to think about.

Actually I was thinking wrong because Mantis was there at the time so maybe I was thinking it was a year old I'm not sure. Time for me to get back for sure now. I've always meant to go back many times but it's hard to drive 10 hours to get there when I can get to KI in a little under 5 hours. ?Do they ever have bands or a dj playing in the que's at Cedar Point anymore
-
the longest line i've ever waited for was Disaster Transport. That was the one and only time I went to Cedar Point (sad I know) It was nearly a 3 hour wait that same day I think I waited about 2 and a half hours for Raptor but it was cool because they had a band playing in the que. Needless to say on the DT part I enjoyed the ride but not that much. To be honest the part I probably liked the best about DT is that it reminded me a lot of the Screamin Delta Demon at Opryland. To give reference to how long ago it was when I went to the point Raptor was 1 year old and I can't remember what was new that year.

Don't get me wrong I love The Vortex. I think it's a great ride, I do think it can be better but I still think it's a good ride. Another thing that's happening more frequently now though is that guests are realizing that you don't have to get your head banged to death to ride a good coaster. Head banging is a problem that a lot of coasters have especially with looping Arrow's. By no means do I mean to single out Arrow though Eurofighters (Mystery Mine only one i've experienced) also seem to be head bangers. Most of this is solved by removing the OTSR's which is why previously in this thread I felt as though Vortex could use a new set of trains. I would say as it is now if no major improvements are done to The Vortex (ie: new trains w/o otsr's) I would hazard a guess that The Vortex will be gone within 10 years.

Man Dies After Fall At WDW MK
AintNutinElse2Do replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Then please explain what relation you see between the two. I honestly want to see your point of view. Okay, well in my mind never haven been to any Disney park (sad I know) when I think of Disney World I think of all of the Disney parks in Orlando being together. So when I think of Animal Kingdom ( I honestly didn't realize it was a bit further away) I think of it being right beside the other parks. Honestly I see the whole Disney chain down there being one total complex including the resorts. I think this is where our biggest difference was. I view the incidents being related solely on where they happened. I also suppose I see more of a relation also because I'm not familiar with the parks very well. Now if it was a place I was much more familiar with and I in turn viewed them as separate entities I would likely share your viewpoint. From my first response on this I said I agreed at least in portion. I still do in a way. I do think the media connects dots and perhaps maybe not all dots should be connected. As an outsider to those parks I personally just saw the stories being relative to each other. I guess to me it was stories about what happened here instead of what happened to these people. thanks for keeping me thinking~ i'm always open to different viewpoints but I can't say that I don't like defending the one's I have either -

^ thankfully here in America we don't have to agree so in turn we'll just have to agree to disagree... but i guess that's still a little bit of agreeing I do see a relation and I would think a lot of people do too, obviously the media does. I know that you see it differently and I know a lot of other people don't agree with my assessment either. Trust me I'm okay with that. -

"^ due to the high chance that both are related to each other; which is obviously not the case when it comes down to the Disney situation.^" you just proved what I was trying to say, you agree that since they are related to each other it should be mentioned.... and disney's magic kingdom and animal kingdom are VERY much related... maybe not the incidents but the parks are Lets say that SFOG had an accident on a ride Monday then on Friday SFGA had an accident on a different ride then SFMM had an incident while not a ride accident could of easily been prevented... then would you not want the media to connect the dots for you? What's bad is that I in one completely agree with you and on the other hand I see a connection there that perhaps you don't. Please take no offense if any has been taken. -

AintNutinElse2Do replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
^ Your right that it wouldn't be right to mention said incident at GE transport and at IOA as the same story. These incidents were however at Disney's Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Those incidents also happened the same day (if I read correctly). If there was a bomb threat at Generic High School and a shooting at Generic Middle School and especially if they sat beside each other, would you not want the media to put those stories together or at least mention the stories together? -

AintNutinElse2Do replied to The Interpreter's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Okay I do agree with you on this I really do. What I would say is that while the accidents were completely different, it was still the same company. That somewhat connects the two incidents. I mean if say Cedar Point had an accident on Thursday then on Friday there was an incident at Soak City I would want the media to point out both accidents, but perhaps better than the article in question. Again I know the accidents are completely different and I don't agree that it should of been brought up the way it was, but I do feel they are connected simply due to the timeline and the fact it was the same company. -
pki.com changing to visitkingsisland.com?
AintNutinElse2Do replied to PKIVortex's topic in Kings Island
>>>> http://www3.cedarfair.com/kingsisland/attr...ry.cfm?ac_id=18 so when did Top Gun turn into the B&M Top Gun as shown in the bottom left of the screen under the thrill ride column? I know that it's not but come on was there not a good KI coaster picture that they could of put there instead? -
I hadn't heard anything about IJ:TC changing it's name at KD. That being the case I would say your right and ride names will indeed change for 2008. Maybe not but if they're going to rename a ride that is much newer than other Paramount named rides I don't see why they wouldn't try to do all of them.
-
The campground I see returning but probably not for 2008 though wish it would, I do think if the campground was returning this would of been included in the capital ex statement. Nick Parade all depends on whether or not it'll get rotated to another park before ki again Revamped restaurants I definitely see that happening A few new shows probably but may take away from some other shows that didn't do as well last season Ride rebranding I'm not sure 2008 will see that happening just yet. That will likely depend on when the individual ride contracts. A new/used flat ride I still see as a possibility. I know it wasn't included in the capital ex report but likely a small ride wouldn't have made it. They may not even know what to put at KI at time of report. I'm sure they're looking at the available rides and deciding who will benefit most. Now one thing to keep in mind is that when they announced spending $88mil (if i recall correctly) it was said that they weren't sure if that would be a big enough investment. So that said they can adjust their spending if they feel a park is getting the short end of the stick.

Ravine Flyer II taking shape
AintNutinElse2Do replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That looks like it's gonna be a pretty sweet coaster. I love the bridge over the highway, like the use of tunnels as well. How far is Waldameer from KI or CP? -
Obviously after 9/11 there is a threat of terrorism. I know that we need to take more precautions and all but along the lines of what PKIVortex said I think we're giving them ideas. The article just pointed out to whoever that those chemicals are available there. Like you I would of not known that those chemicals were neccesarily a bad combination. It really cracked me up one time when I went to a Wal-Mart in Williamsburg KY. They had this big poster on the front doors with pictures of all the items (all available at walmart pretty much) needed to make meth. I know they were going for the public service announcement but it was more like "don't forget the sudafed."
