Someone sent me a PM about the new haunt attraction. I've never seen the screenname on here before. What is that all about???

I SO agree. When visiting Halloweekends at CP last year, I thought that the scare zones were the best part. Total fog and you couldn't see the people until they were almost in your face. And the best part is that you don't have to wait in line everyone just walks through.

Nice TR Deb. I was there yesterday as well. I did see the guy get escorted out, but I don't know what he was doing. We were 6 or 7 trains in the back seat after the fireworks. I don't think that I have waited that long to ride The Beast since before I was tall enough to ride and my parents made me wait in line with them just to sit in the kiddie corral that they used to have. All of the que lines were being used. We were going to spend most of the day in BB because I just went to the park on Wed, but it was too cold for us. We did, however, fit 5 adults in the Wild Thornberry's log ride. I have never gotten so drenched on a log ride before in my life. I was stuck in the front and had nowhere to go. After the hill there was a big wave of water that just came over the front of the boat and then the elephant poured more water on us.

When I went to the park on Wed, I felt like SOB was rougher than when I went on opening day. I do enjoy SOB. I love wooden coasters and speed, but I can only ride SOB once a trip. However, The Beast I can ride multiple times a day. We got three rides in on Wednesday, and a final night ride after the fireworks in the back car. ^BTW... I thought that SOB has only had 2 different trains?

I noticed that after the announcement on Wednesday, they had the Diamondback signs on the fence where the teaser signs are placed.

Well my daughter has done it to me again. She is standing over me and laughing saying, go ahead and ask I dare you. Well curiosity has gotten the best of me: Who is Nick and Jessica, and what significance do they have to KI? Jessica Simpson and then husband Nick Lachey. Nick is from Cincy, I believe.

I know that Power Tower is used at another Cedar Fair Park, Valley Fair. But you did say current management, maybe that was before this reign. Edit: Sentence changed to make sense. Sorry, no caffeine yet!

You are such a creative kid. I enjoy seeing your doodles and now a video.

Not being mean or anything, but why is it thought that this will have a western theme? Is Rivertown really a western themed area?

So I am on my business trip to the Minneapolis/St Paul area and visited Valley Fair today. The weather showed that today would be the only good weather day while I was here. It was hot and sunny. I believe that it got up to 95 today. After getting through all of the construction that is going on, I made it to the Valley Fair parking lot. I showed my platinum pass to the parking attendant and she looked a bit confused. I told her that it was a platinum pass from Knotts Berry Farm (from my Feb trip to LA) and then the lightbulb came on. As I was looking for a parking spot, I thought to myself that the lot and entrance looks a lot like CP. When I tried to go through the gates with my pass, I was re-directed to the guest services office. Apparently, they do not have the equipment to scan the passes that come from other parks. While in the building I grab a park map and start to look where I can find everything and I notice that the park layout looks a lot like the layout of CP. Anyway, the lady at the desk takes my pass, writes the information down, and I'm on my way. The first coaster that I came to was High Roller. Neat starter ride, lots of airtime hills. Reminded me of a smaller Racer. Next ride was Wild Thing. This ride looked really cool and I was excited to ride it. Loved the first drop, but the rest was kind of a dissapointment. Don't get me wrong, it was a good coaster, nice airtime (I think that I was completely out of my seat on a few hills), but I think that I was expecting a Magnum type ride. Next up was Renegade. This is an exciting woodie. A definite repeat ride. I rode the first time in the back seat. Nice airtime and surprisingly fast. I then rode Excalibur. Nice ride, but I was distracted by the crying little girl in front of me. It was smoking hot and I decided to ride the Flume. I love log flume rides and I was glad that I rode this one. Not only did I get some relief from the heat, it was a fun ride. I then rode the Wheel of Fortune, Mad Mouse, Looping Starship, Xtreme Swing, Power Tower, and Steel Venom, and a second ride on Renegade (this time in the front seat). I decided to grab a bite to eat and relax in some shade, and I went to Stadium Pizza for a slice and a beer. $13.64 later and I had a souvenier cup from my "tall" beer and a horrible slice of hawaiian pizza. I went back to the counter and asked for a different piece. I opted for just cheese, thinking it would be fresher. It was defintely better, but still not great. By this time it was 3:55 and I remembered seeing the IMAX theater had a show starting at 4:00, so I went to the show. I don't know if I was just tired or the show didn't interest me, but I caught myself falling asleep during the show. 40 minutes of looking at fish isn't my idea of a good time. But that's just me. I decided to end my day and started walking toward the front gate. I passed by Riptide and decided to ride it. What a thrilling ride. This topspin had the water sprayers and I had ridden the RipTide at Knotts, but the water wasn't on. I was surprized and woken up by the amount of water that actually hit me. My shorts were soaken wet. After this ride, I went into a couple of the shops to look at the shorts, but as I suspected, they were very expensive. Most shorts were $44. I did find a pair of shorts for $19.99 but opted not to get them because I think that I am a little to old to have writing on my rear. My botched shopping experience ended my day. All in all, I enjoyed my day at the park. There was a traveling band, outdoor shows, and pretty good rides. Glad that I braved the traffic on 35W to get the park. For those that don't remember or don't know, 35W was the road that the bridge collapsed last year (I think last year). There are a lot of on and off ramps that are closed and lots of detours to get you where you need to go on 35W. Thanks for reading. Tomorrow I'm going to the Mall of America after my conference. Will post if I do anything besides shopping.

Really?! I hadn't noticed any before. Maybe I just wasn't looking for it. I haven't went to the fair in a couple of years. I took my son so that he could meet up with friends, but thats about it.
-
I have to travel to cincy tomorrow to pick up the dress for my friends wedding and I am going to go to the park afterward. I am not going until around 2pm and will more than likely be by myself. Just thought that I would ask if anyone was going to be there. Sometimes its nice to put faces with names.
-
Good for you. I'm glad that you have stayed strong for what is only natural for you. Unfortunately, not everyone can be that strong. I had a friend that couldn't live with telling his family in fear of what they would say/do and succumbed to his suicidal thoughts.
-
Thanks Dane. So do you think that they will charge an additional price for those that come during the day and stay for the haunt?
-
Really? Wow, just wow
-
Does anyone know if they have announced the pricing for HH this year? And... are they going to make everyone clear the park for the hour that they are closed (6-7) and then re-enter? Of course, I have a platinum pass and don't have to worry about the charge, but I always have friends with me that don't get season passes.
-
Thanks. I am going to the Mall of America. It sounds like it will take longer to go there than to ValleyFair.
-
So I'm making another work trip this year, and this time I am going to the Minneapolis/St. Paul area from July 13 - 18. I plan on taking advantage of my Platinum Pass and going to ValleyFair for the first time. For those that have been there... Can you accomplish everything in one day? What are the definite rides to hit? Any other suggestions?

What was your first "big kid" ride you went on at KI?
clbehymer replied to Cortney's topic in Kings Island
Yeah... I don't think that I was even a quarter of an inch short, because I went later in the summer and had no problems getting on. Too bad I couldn't get on The Beast earlier. I remember waiting in line with my parents and then I would have to go in the "cage" as I called it. I cried everytime that I couldn't ride. -

My first big ride was The Racer. I have a very interesting story about this experience. I was at the park with my parents and we went to Viking Fury. On the ride with us were football players and cheerleaders from Ohio State on the opposite ends, screaming as each end went up in the air. I thought that this was so cool, so I joined in the fun as I was sitting in front of the football players. After the ride was over, the players asked my parents if they could take me to The Racer. My parents agreed and of course followed. So I got on the shoulders of a couple of the players and we proceeded to The Racer. When we got to the entrance where they measured me, and said that I was too short. Then the football players and cheerleaders started chanting "Let her ride, Let her ride". I don't think that the ride attendant wanted to deal with all of this, so he called another employee, and they remeasured me and I guess that I grew enough because they let me ride! May not have been the safest thing, but hey, it was the early 80's. edit: fixed spelling errors -
I had my platinum pass processed at Knott's this year, and on opening day at KI I had to go to guest relations to get a paper ticket to get through the gate because my pass wouldn't work at the gate. I hope that this was only opening day bugs. It would be a hassle to have to go and wait at GR everytime I went to KI and CP. But if that's how it has to be done then I'll do it.

I actually enjoyed the music on International Street before the Paramount days.

I actually had quite the opposite day. My son and I really enjoyed ourselves and had ridden everything major(excluding BLSC) in about 6 hours. The only thing that seemed different to me were the black straps that were added to the seatbelts that were new last year (as Gordan has already pointed out) and that each employee that checked the seatbelt/restraints said check... check... check.
