Where exactly is the MCBR on The Beast? I'm assuming it is the longer shed style building after you've turned to the right.
-
Nice video of DB and I'm glad you liked the ride. The other videos you have are nice to watch too. Thanks for sharing.

We weren't so lucky the first time on The Beast, there was a full station with one train running. We had to have waited like, 40 minutes or so at around 10:45 in the morning.

That's interesting. More interesting because the manager and a ride op yelled at the boys in question. Did they suddenly forget who was breaking the rules? It would be sad to hear that KI ride supervisors have resorted to intimidation and false accusations that border on thuggery to get a point across. That has never happened to me at all, sorry to hear about that. Did you at least get the ride op's names so they could be properly dealt with?

So, I listen to the Season Pass podcast and Doug Barnes had said he'd be here on this day and if anyone wanted to join him, to let him know. I said I would try to join and after all the stars aligned we were together along with Urso Chappell of Expomuseum.com, Robert Coker of Thrillride.com, a couple that Doug knew from Florida and later in the day we met up with Chris Godsey of Rideworld.com and his family. Everyone but Urso had been to the park at least once before so they knew what to expect and this was Urso's third different park in as many days. The majority of the park was in a one train operation mode, including The Beast early on, but once the rain stopped, one train op continued, curiously. I really enjoyed being the group's Kings Island "local" and answering any questions they had. Some of the highlights were of course Diamondback, The Beast, FoF, Adventure Express, and The Racer. Everyone had a blast on each ride and getting to share a new experience with Urso and everyone else that hadn't ridden each ride was awesome. Lowlights included SoB, the Crypt and one train operation. The consensus of the group was that SoB was painful, and the Crypt was a waste of time. I ran into a ton of KICers, including, dare-to-fly, CoryButcher, Captain Nemo, Gordon Bombay, KI Man, markr, gigacoaster2k and pkiboy. Add to that the amount of ride ops that recognized me, and you get Doug telling me I'm a local celebrity. I doubt that very much, but I can see how they would think that seeing everyone say hi to me and chat with me. That being said, I had a fantastic time at the park and had one of the best days I've had at the park in quite some time. After close, the group went to Frisch's for dinner and then we all went to what would become the highlight of my day. Immediately after dinner, we all met back at Doug's hotel and recorded an episode of the podcast right there live. I have to say that was a blast to do and I can't wait to listen to it when Doug gets it done. I invite all members of KIC to have a listen, it's pretty funny stuff and a good conversation to boot. All in all, everyone got to do what they came to KI to do, and they had a blast doing it and the park came off, I think, very well in all their eyes. My final ride count is as follows: DB-4 Beast-2 Crypt-1 Vortex-1 Racer-1 AE-2 SoB-1 Flight Deck-1 BLSC-1 FoF-1 Firehawk-1

Sorry. I wasn't sure if it was this week or next, and I was too lazy to check. so went with the safer answer. That's how my friend is about Diamondback. BEFORE it opened, and after, he said, "Oh, that doesn't look like that great of a ride. It at least needs a loop or a corkscrew!" It gets on my nerves SO bad. I try to explain why it doesn't so he says" It's still not that great of a ride. It needs a loop!"... *thinks whatever to self* That ride looks absolutely AMAZING. The theming a coordination of the flips with the water and fire is great. I would love it if our Crypt was replaced with that! I want to ride that SOOOOOOOO bad!!! Did you happen to see how the arms shook back and forth when the gondola flipped? That's a little scary.

Our group waited over an hour for SoB on the 28th. That was because the majority of the park was in one train operation mode. I'm not sure if that was because of the weather or a staffing issue, but it was extremely annoying. That "last" train was made up of Diamondback crew members, and someone wearing an ACE jacket and two other people. We got jipped, man.

Intensity!!! At least you had a little fun with your wife, eh?
-
Too bad about all that. Hey, your next visit can't get much worse can it?
-
Plumber guy? I'm dying laughing over here. Man I stick out like a sore thumb, don't I?

Sorry for the coin slot action there, forgot that shot had that in it. That was right after I had the bright idea to manually focus my camera instead of the camera trying to autofocus on the netting. I R smart.

I must be getting old because I have no idea who that is. Or it could be because I don't have cable. Thanks for the TR. Good to see you had a fun time.

UncleHenry to guest-host In The Loop
Kawana replied to UncleHenry's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
I hope they pick you. You can't be any worse than what they usually have on there. Just beware of Clint playing sound effects for literally no reason whatsoever. I listen every week via podcasts and I can't wait to hear how you did. -
Our main reason for braving the crowds was to see Collective Soul in concert. The show did not disappoint and even though we were there for only 5 hours and only rode the Carousel and SDATHC, I still had a great time. We did watch a little of the skateboarding and the FMX and that was pretty cool. I'll let the pictures do the talking. Skateboarders FMX Pop Evil At the end the lead singer came out into the crowd and performed the last song in the crowd. Collective Soul I really enjoyed the day and the concert. Collective Soul was awesome and Ed Roland had tons of energy. Thanks for reading/looking.

I would settle for the park enforcing it's own policy. You create the rule, it's your obligation to enforce it.
-
Thanks for the TR. Good to hear that you finally got your coasters in.
-
I was lucky enough to valley on Face/Off. We came screaming through the station and stopped on the way up the cobra roll. That was sweet. Thanks for the TR.
-
Nice TR, and nice ninja skills on grabbing that quarter. Color me impressed. Mr. Kinzel may recruit you to grab all the loose nickels and such.
-
You're still a guest, and no person can see what goes on everywhere. I'd say tell them about it because they can't fix what no one says is broken. The strike system is a good idea but how many of these line jumpers are gaining access to the park via a one day ticket? The park made the rules, its up to them to enforce the rules, especially on an E-ticket like Diamondback.
-
We got ours at the will call booth. I would think you'll be able to get tickets still on Saturday they just won't be as close as those who got theirs, say, at RWW.
-
Cool TR. I was reading with bated breath. Thanks for sharing.
-
Add this to the inconsistency of CF. Last year when I went with my KI purchased Platinum pass, we had no problems whatsoever entering early for the morning ERT. What gives? Thanks for the TR. Glad you had a little fun at least.
-
Great TR. That's what KI is all about. Family memories. Thanks for posting.

If this operator is correct, then this is the reason. And it seems likely. Well, considering she's the second person who is employed by the park I've heard this from, I'll believe it.
-
The park will say it's not meant to be a time saver, which it's not. It's purpose is to dispatch full trains.
