  1. I think the park does need a good inverted Coaster but it could definitley use more flats. You figure really Beyond Drop Tower, Delerium, and The Crypt, what do we have? Not a whole lot, a couple fair type spinning rides thats about it. I'm all about the Screaming Swings
  2. Screaming Swing all the way! Haven't even rode Skyhawk yet but what I've seen it looks like a blast.
  3. I'm all for updating Flight Deck with Floorless trains, would be a nice way to spruce up an old ride and make it a bit more entertaining. Do I think it will happen? Probably not but I am all for it.
  4. Great Trip Report and awesome pictures! I have to admit I'm kinda jealous, as I'd love to check out some other parks, but never have the time or money.
  5. As for the best deal, we're staying at a Comfort Inn 6 miles from the park. Its cost us only $158 for 2 nights, though we got the lower rate by forfeiting our right to cancel, or change the reservations. I think if we hadn't gone that route it would of been $200 for 2 nights. We found the hotel from Travelocity, but then went to comfortinn's site and got even a better deal. Though Comfort Inn probably won't be as exciting as staying at GWL, or one of the many hotel's on site.
  6. well of course Chang is the "updated" model...isn't it the next B&M stand up right after mantis? Anywy I'll ride everything at least once. The only thing I remmeber about the 3 standups I've rode in my life, Chang, Iron Wolf, and of course King Cobra, is the harness's are ridiculously uncomfortable, and the stool in the crotch thing can always be a bit painful, which is why I can't really complain about the Standup coaster officially being a discontinued model.
  7. Here's a quick question: How's Mantis in comparison to Chang? I've rode 2 B&M Stand ups before, Chang and Iron Wolf. While the harnesses were a bit uncomfortable I don't remember those being that painful and horrid to ride. Is Mantis worse than the other 2? Seems to have a bad reputation. I thought B&M coasters were supposed to be perfectly smooth, and never break down, and move 2.7 million people per hour lol
  8. Thats a good thing not a bad thing! If we're going to rate this as a measurement of popularity then I guess Invertigo, Firehawk, and Flight of Fear are the most popular coasters in the park! More realistically though, Diamondback is a people mover, the other 3 aren't.
  9. Ok stupid question time: What are Trim Brakes? I keep hearing everyone talk about them, and how they obviously suck, but honestly I just don't know what they are.
  10. I wouldn't mind going to Kings Dominion someday. Would be interesting to see another park with an Eiffel Tower replica.
  11. I was gonna say, i by no means think KI is boring. Think its a great park with lots of different coasters, and at what 14 coasters (15 I think if you count SOB) its up there as one of the parks with the most coasters.
  12. After looking into it more, I agree Diamondback seems to have a better ride layout that intimidator...intimidator looks kinda boring other than the 305 foot hill.
  13. Ok just watched a POV of Intimidator, and maybe I wanna take back that statement...think Diamondback has a better layout. But I'd still rather have dominator over Firehawk! oh and btw I'm bored, and reading about theme parks on wikipedia, google, and RCDB incase your wondering where this topic just came from out of the blue.
  14. We get Firehawk and Diamondback, they get Dominator and Intimidator 305.... Think I'd rather have the later, though Diamondback still rocks, Firehawk not so much.
  15. So since I'll arrive sometime in the afternoon, what coasters and flat rides should I hit up first?
  16. Thanks Terpy! This advice is all been great, and hopefully It'll all pay off when we go. OF course I have to admit I've been dying to ride MF for 10 years so I may end up just getting in line and waiting it out when I get there!
  17. HOliday World, 1997. Before anyone gets upset, it was a 100% poor planning on my family's part as to why it sucked. We went on a Saturday in August, and the place was packed eblow to eblow. Their weren't a whole lot of rides so they all had a long line, and the waterpark you couldn't even get into. IT wasn't as packed as my 1995 Cedar Point trip, but pretty close. After 2 hours me and my brother met back up with my parents and we all admitted we were miserable and we left. I did get to ride the Raven while I was there, and its a pretty awesome ride. I'm willing to give it a second chance though. It was a 100% poor planning. Last year actually me, my wife, and my friends did our annual cabin trip at Lincoln memorial which is right next to Holiday world, and I would of gone but the park was weekend only operation at the time, and well since the last time we went was on a Saturday, I didn't wanna risk it again!
  18. Hey Terpy, how does MF, TTD, and Maverick compare to Diamondback in terms of guests of exceptional size?
  19. Well the first day I will be working the night before. When I get off work, I'll be in the car sleeping on the way up. We should leave Indianapolis around 7 I imagine. I should get there sometime in the afternoon. Second day I should get there at open or before open depending whether or not I get a platinum pass or not. Thanks for all the advice, I really appreciate it!
  20. Are they worse than Diamondback in your experience? Diamondback's harness seems to be the most unforgiving I've seen, for women anyway since uh well dunno how to say this but women tend to gain weight in their rear end while guys just gain it in their stomach, and the seats wrap around pushing a female forward and then the restraint has to come down and get 3 clicks. Hard to complain about it since Diamondback has a way of making you feel your not strapped in at all. But its still not as rough as Drop Tower. The good news is since she had bariatric surgery she's still loosing weight and with a month away she'll be even lighter. For example her first trip out on opening day she could barely get the second click on Diamondback and wasn't able to ride, now she can get the 3rd click easy but its a bit tight. I'll have to call about the passes. Trying to make this trip as cheap as possible. I can't tell you guys how excited I am. I've been gawking at Millenium force, TTD, and Maverick for quite some time, and last time I went the Raptor was the newest ride! BTW hows just starting at the front of the park and working our way around in a circle to attack all the coasters? Good idea or bad idea? In general it works for Kings Island, though CP is quite a bit bigger
  21. Hey this is a great thread! I have some questions myself since i will be visiting the park towards the end of July: 1. What is the best method of getting tickets? Should I buy discount tickets or as a Kings Island Gold Pass member should I just upgrade my pass? How much does it cost to upgrade from Gold To Platinum? BTW I'm looking to go to the park 2 days. 2. Guest of exceptional size. My wife's shrank quite a bit since last year, and she can ride literally everything now at Kings Island, though its kind of a tight fit on Diamondback and Drop Tower. How does this compare to Cedar Point? Will she be making the infamous "walk of shame" quite a bit?
  22. Well my wife called the park up today and they found the information and sent her another E-mail out to reprint the paperwork. Problem solved! Thanks for the help guys.
  23. Last Christmas we bought my brother a season pass for Kings Island. He hasn't had a chance to go yet but he lost the paperwork we gave him. My wife went to print it out again but found out she had deleted the confirmation e-mail. Is my bro just screwed or are there any options for him? My wife's going to call the park tommorrow and see what she can do.
  24. Vortex! I remember seeing The Vortex Commercials on TV and I was dieing to ride it. I was only 7 at that point. 2 years later I got my wish. Unfortunately it wasn't my first coaster ever, as The Beastie was the very first, but The Vortex was right after... and man it scared the heck out of me! But it apparently didn't leave any emotional scars because 21 years later its the ride I've ridden the most at Kings Island. It used to be a ride I hit up 2 -3 times, though I've been so much lately I haven't been riding it as much.
  25. I just wanna voice my opinion, and honestly I think Cedar Fair is screwing up a bit with Kings Island. Yeah we got Firehawk and Diamondback, but like others have said, the park has lot a lost of its magic, and honestly the theming was so much better under paramount. I kinda see Planet Snoopy as the "cheap way out" of the kids area. I see Planet Snoopy as a major fail too, as Nickolodeon Universe was really incredible walking into, and a true heaven for kids. I'm sorry but how many kids these days even know much about Snoopy? Now I think no doubt Disney is 1st and Nickoloden is second but obviously there's a huge elephant in the room when it comes to getting a disney license so Nick was the next best thing. I doubt they'll win many more golden tickets, and I for one can say the kids area is not near as impressive. Theming in general just sucks for Cedar Fair. I think of the quick removal of names and the absoloute raping of Tomb Raider the Ride. Its obvious they came up with this stuff in an hour long board meeting and no thought went into the new names or theming. And when the Son of Beast broke down CF gave it a quick fix and now the only thing on the horizen for the ride is demolition. Now don't get me wrong I'm not going to defend the Paramount era completely either. Paramount was great at first but its last 5 years of ownership quite frankly sucked. But CF was the wrong owner for the park.
