Cedar Fair looking to layoff spongebob and friends
If they were to remove the Nick themeing it would be nothing more than an old fashioned "dumb move". They got the gold ticket award for the best children's area in the world in 2006 for it so why in gods name would they wanna loose that honor?

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Well I even have to use my Indianapolis Colts as an example I guess. After all they wanted a new stadium when Memorial Stadium in Baltimore was crumbling. Balitmore was disgusted with their loosing record, and wouldn't even think of it. So they moved to Indianapolis where our mayer at the time had the nice new Hoosier Dome built just for them. Whats crap is how bitter the baltimore fans are for the Colts Leaving. you know they #1 they NEEDED a new stadium, and #2. their last year there were only 1000 of the 60,000 some seats being bought by fans. They didn't really care about the team at all until they left. They are so bitter that when the Colts play the Ravens they won't dare put "indianapolis" on the scoreboard. NOpe, it'll be "baltimore" and "colts" on the Scoreboard. When we schooled them in the playoffs in 2007, their fans gave us death threats! What do I think? I think if I was a Baltimore Raven I'd be insulted. because its obvious the fans care much more about the team they lost than the team they have now. anyway maybe instead of being bitter at us, maybe they should be bitter at the city who wouldn't pay the price to keep their team!

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
Either way my point is, you don't try to build a new stadium when you have a loosing record. Lets look at the Houston Oilers. They are now the Tennessee Titans because they tried to have a new stadium built during a time when they were loosing.

Firehawk
I totally agree that they take to long to load this ride. I love the coaster but honestly I'm getting sick of waiting even when there is "no wait". It was the last ride I rode at KI during my last visit, and when I got in line, it wasn't busy at all. In fact all the turnstile's were closed, and there was just one line going to the guy with the seperator. Took me nearly 40 minutes to get on the ride from that point. And i was watching, and noticing one station would have all their cars full, then the next station would have all their cars full, then they would let one car go, then the other car go, all and all a complete ride cycle of both cars took like 10 minutes or so. Its the only ride in the park where you'll acctually see "downtime" when they are loading. What I mean is no cars at going on the coaster at all, no cars in que, etc. I really hope this is something that improves on this ride.

Quick ? about the vortex
FoF was alot rougher with the OTSR restraints. I think its overall a lot less painful with the new restraints. However I don't find The Vortex bad with the OLSR's. I know a lot of people do, but I really don't
-
Quick ? about the vortex
Well Flight of Fear doesn't have OTSR's. If I recall it was change to reduce the "headbanging"

Quick ? about the vortex
Ok I know the coaster isn't sinking, so everyone can go ahead and make a sigh of relief. Thats not what this is about. Ok I'm not sure when it was but I went to KI once each in '99, 2000, and 2003 and I swear I remember one of those visits that The Vortex had lap bar restraints similar to FoF's instead of the OTS's. Next visit I remember it was back to the OTSR. I dunno maybe I'm crazy, but did they switch one year?

Geauga Lake: ACE did NOT take Big Dipper
Wow that seems redicolous to me. An association all about preserving coasters won't take a classic coaster thats basically going to be given to them for free. So tell me whats the point of this organization ag ain?

GREAT AMERICA (CA): What now?
WHy in gods name are the 49rs trying to buy a theme park to build a new stadium right now anyway? They need to focus on other things like ACCTUALLY WINNING GAMES! lol, seriously though the Joe Montana/Steve Young days are loooooooooong gone!

Geauga Lake: Going, Going....
Ok So they expanded too fast... so why didn't Cedar Fair, just undo what Six Flags did and return the park to its pre Six Flags days? Honestly I find it kind of sad myself that everything's gone. Never been to Geauga lake but I have gone to Sea World of Ohio several times as a child. I'd always look over and see the "double loop" coaster and wish I was over there riding it.

Geauga Lake: Going, Going....
I've been to KI on a many sundays where all the rides were walk on's that doesn't mean that Saturday at GL wasn't packed like every other park. You gotta figure on Sunday most people stay at home, relax, and get ready for the work week to start. Typically KI isn't too busy on Sunday unless there is some event scheduled for it. Anyway, I do think its wrong in some sense what Cedar Fair did. They bought the park, and basically "stole" all the rides for their other parks. I mean its not stealing since they own them, but it is. I really believe the whole point of purchasing place was simply to get rid of a competitor. I really and truly believe thats the only reason they bought them. THey basically bought the park so they could shut it down. Kings Island is safe because its far enough away from Cedar Point, but GL was quite a bit closer. I mean its not wrong, because in the business world it happens all the time, but it is because something like this affects a whole community, while business mergers you just kinda shrug off. And I'm sure the thought is "well they can just drive to Cedar Point" but when gas is $4.19/gallon it makes it that much harder to go to a park.

Geauga Lake: Going, Going....
I thought they were going to keep it open as an "old Indiana" style place with classic fair rides and a waterpark?

Trip Report 6/1/08 - 6/2/08
well the thing is the ride is a lot of fun, but its also pretty tame. having the bar down with multiple clicks is plenty safe. this is acctualy one of the few rides I've left my glasses on and they've stayed put! I enjoy the ride, but I probably won't be riding it anymore just because the walk of shame for my wife is apparently a threat now, depending who checks the rides.

Coaster Mania 2008 PTR!
Well thats nice that they post the guidelines and let you test the harness so you don't waste your time in a line. NOTHING ****es you off more than waiting in line for something for an hour or more only to have to make the "walk of Shame" when you get up there to ride it! Anyway I'm sure at CP I'd have no problem. How is the Raptor? Is it as forgiving as Invertigo?

Is Kentucky Kingdom going to make it?
Well KI's very own boomerang has seemed pretty reliable and for that I'm greatfull! Face Off/Invertigo is one of the highlights of every trip for me! Anyway what I'm saying though is it seems That Kentucky Kingdom just isn't getting any new rides. In fact the last true new ride seemed to be Twins. I'd love for them to give me a reason to go there, other than riding Chang and going home.
-
Is Kentucky Kingdom going to make it?
no thats why I left it that day. After riding chang it just didn't seem like there was much to do. It was a saturday. I really just don't see why they replaced an awasome vekoma boomerang coaster with a lame coaster that does basically the same thing but only has ONE LOOP!

Is Kentucky Kingdom going to make it?
I'm wondering how this park stays open. Not only have they not had a real new ride in years, they opened this year with 2 less rides. Superman tower of power was removed for obvious reasons, and i understand that. Twisted Twins will not be opening this year...but why? They won't say. When I first went to the park in 1998, it was still "kentucky Kingdom: The thrill park", and I saw a lot of potential for an alterternative to Kings Island that also wasn't too far from home. I had a blast that trip. It wasn't very busy so I rhode everything multiple times. When I went in 2004, I rode Chang 2 or 3 times and left. I found the Vampire was no where to be seen, and to replace it, some ancient Screamin' demon clone that originally came from Six Flags Great America. Chang was dead but all the rest of the rides were packed, so I gave up on the park rather quick. From what I read on Wikipedia the Six flags takeover was supposed to be a good thing, but right now it sure isn't looking like it. When are they ever going to expand that place?

Super-Crowded Wednesday 6/11 Report
Union Day is when my dad always took me when I was a kid. He is a retired UAW worker. He always got tickets pretty cheap because of it, and it usually wasn't too bad. Now one year we got suckered into going on the 4th of July. They all told us "oh its not bad, no one goes to KI because they all have cookouts to go too" and we bought it, and they couldn't of been farther from the truth. IT was the most packed day I had ever seen at Kings Island!

Another Intamin Drop Tower incident
i noticed Six Flags KK removed the old hellavator this year. Probably a good call. Anyway I went on Drop Tower during my last visit to KI and I was scared to death because of the KK incident. This is the last straw for me, I don't think I'm going to get on one ever again. Intamin Drop Towers are proving just to be too unreliable!

SF Requires You To Check All Bags Before Each Roller Coaster at $1 Per Ride
oh god. Its already 75 cents/ride on Firehawk at Kings Island, I sure hope every ride doesn't go to this! I see NOTHING wrong with the gigantic steel truck box that you can put your stuff in on the other rides!

First ride at kings island?
My very first trip, If I recall was in the summer when Water Works was built. I know I was DIEING to ride The Vortex, and I had never been on a coaster before, but I wanted to check out the water park so thats where we went first. Then After that, my dad took me to The Vortex...lol the thing scared the hell out of me. I remember the hill, and then after that just violent twists and turns...seemed more intense back then. Not that the ride has changed at all, but after riding it 500 times or so, its obviously not as quite as intense to me now. We rode The Vortex, than The Beast, and then The Racer, and after that My dad wanted me to get on King Cobra with him, but I was like "no way, I'm done with Coasters for the day". He ended up riding it by himself and I watched. That was back when the King Cobra, Racer, Vortex, and Beast were the "Fearsome 4"

Super-Crowded Wednesday 6/11 Report
For the most part you're safe with a weekday but every now and then a weekday can just be crowded. Usually there is SOME reason for that, ie schools just got let out, schools are about to go back in, Scouts day, etc. Glad you still managed to have a good day with your son.
-
Son of Beast
my very first coaster I ever rode was Vortex at age 8.... and back then it scared the hell out of me. But it may be why I have higher expectations for coasters.

Son of Beast
My problem with Adventure Express is the crappy ending. Stupid tunnel with a bunch of statues talking to you and then one goes "now you will pay" and thats it, thats the end of the ride. I personally thing there should be SOMETHING after that stupid tunnel. They psych you all up just to end the ride. What is the point in that? I honestly got excited and thought something crazy was about to happen when I first rode it. Then when I got off, my first thought was "well that was just sort of stupid...whats the point?" Still trying to understand why it has a top thrill rating of 5! Top Gun I agree, would be a pretty good ride if it was longer. It is way too short. Its not bad, but its just way too short. BLST is kinda neat, but I'm kinda bitter at that ride right now... Anyway point is, the large coasters shouldn't be touched, they are the best part of the park. The Beast, Son of Beast, Vortex, and Racer are the parks big boys, the rest honestly are smaller coasters. Not saying Firehawk, Invertigo and FoF aren't intense but they are still smaller coasters in comparison to the other four... in fact maybe they should bring the "fearsome 4" name back and attach it to The Beast, Son of Beast, Vortex and Racer!
