  1. Call me crazy but I didn't think Wings was all that bad. I ate there for dinner during my trip last week. They had a nice variety really: Spaghetti, Mexican, Mashed Potatoes, Hamburgers, Chicken, Mac & Cheese. It was acctually better than what I expected. The prices were high, but I acctually figured it would be about that much to eat at an all-you-can-eat buffet place inside a park. I hardly ever eat in the park, its just too darn expensive! I've been to many amusement parks and concerts, and sports events, I know how it is, so I try to avoid eating at a place I don't have to eat at. We acctually brought food but we hit wings up after standing in the dry sun for an hour and a half only to hear "ladies and gentlemen Firehawk is going to be down for 2 to 3 hours at least, we highly recommend you get out of line now". I was looking for some A/C, and a place to sit down, and a place I knew I'd be satisfied. Honestly I thought the food was better than Golden Corral. Selection was small, but considering amusement park prices, It was the best bang for the buck there.

I don't want them to convert The Vortex to Stand up. Thats not what I'm saying. I am just curious as to if it could be done! I mean what I'm saying is whats so different about the track of a Stand-up to a steel-looper? They look identical to me. Seems to me The Vortex could be converted to anything but a invert...in theory. and like i said this is all hypothetically speaking... I'm not suggesting the park should fix what hasn't been broken since 1987! And you can see the sky great on an Invert, when you go through a loop!
  3. Cormaster replied to VortexPKIFreak's topic in Rumors
Ok whats wrong with Inverts? DeLorain Rider, have you acctually rode an Invert? They are the best coaster type out there next to the classic steel loopers like The Vortex. I haven't rode Firehawk yet, but I can say that an invert really feels like flying, your constantly tucking your feet in, and its pretty cool to not be able to see the track in front of you! Secondly stand ups: whats so wrong with them? And whats so different about them from a Steel looper other than the cars? Couldn't The Vortex be converted to a standup technically if KI had some cars build that would fit it? My only problem with standups is that stool that goes in between your crotch. Its definilty necessary but they could definitly make them more comfortable and less painful!
  4. If one works in Louisville, KY then surely one would work in Indianapolis...oh wait maybe that one isn't working... at least not that well since Six Flags took over!
  5. lol you mean a Holiday world coaster is that good? Seems whoever made that list was kind a biased towards wooden coasters
  6. Exactly why I hate six flags for screwing up the old indiana deal. Alright its like this. Old Indiana wasn't quite the size of KI but it was at least as big as Kentucky Kingdom, and it had a LOT of room to expand.. there was nothing but vacant land around it. Its main feature was old fashioned fair rides, and a waterpark almost the size of Boomerang Bay! So Six flags allready had the basic rides. Six flags added like 6 coasters to it from the closed Opryland, and then they never opened it! If you got the rides there, why not open it? Instead they sell it to some enviromentalist wacko in 2002 who turns it into a wildlife perserve! Redicolous! If they were smart Not only would they have opened it, but they would of moved Shockwave from SFGA over there too! But nope, six flags is stupid.
  7. Wow! I just looked that thing up. That thing is awesome!
  8. Here's what needs to go: Top Gun and Adventure Express. I say tear those down, rearrange Action Zone a bit... and put in an awesome invert and awesome standup! I'm not saying they should do all this by next year, but over the course of time definitly would be an awesome expansion! I hope with Cedar Point owning them now, that the coaster obssession spreads over KI as well.
  9. Cormaster replied to VortexPKIFreak's topic in Rumors
Well I guess i really can't argue with the fact TOGO went under and getting parts to maintain would be a pain. I DO think they should consider building a new Stand Up, as well as finally getting a real inverted coaster...Face off is a good ride, don't get me wrong, but is NOT by any means the answer I as waiting for when Batman the Ride, the Raptor, T2, etc. started appearing!
  10. Cormaster replied to VortexPKIFreak's topic in Rumors
Nah Hopefully The Vortex stays put. Like I said, they need to just keep buying land and extending the property. Why tear down coasters when you have all that land around you?
  11. See thats what I'm talking about! KI Is great, but come on. I drive a Chevrolet Cavalier... it gets 24/32 mpg but even with that I still had to pay nearly 30 dollars twice in one week to make my trip to KI last weekend. With Gas prices these days sure would be nice to not have to spend that kind of money to go to an awesome theme park! It makes no sense. We have Peyton Manning, the best quareterback of all time. If anything you'd think someone would want to build "Peyton Manning world" here! Peyton Manning WAS on the Colts when Six flags canceled there Plans to open their park in 2002...what gives?
  12. I didn't wait this past trip, but it was the second coaster we hit when the park opened. The Beast usually takes at least an hour because #1 its a long ride (4 minutes) and #2 its popular. its ok though, its always well worth the wait. Now Flight of Fear, I refuse to wait on, simply because the ride is too short for the line, and that video annoys the hell out of me! OH MY GOD ALIENS AHHHHHH! Every time they shine the camera on the people I flip it off.
  13. lowes switched there music to top 40 (btw I guess thats the term I was looking for) for 2 weeks, and it was so much better, then I came in one night and guess what? Steeley dan and paul mccartney fest was back. I was very very angry... I almost walked out.
  14. The new stadium is great, especially the talk of the superbowl being held here one day. You'd think with the Colts winning the superbowl that maybe Cedar Fair or Six Flags would look at us more now.... but things are about to get worse before they get better, as just like someone mentioned above with riverview park, another attraction of Indianapolis, IN is about to get torn down for more sub divisons: Verizon wireless music center (formely Deer Creek). Really makes me mad as I probably go to 3 or 4 concerts a summer there. The issue isn't that it doesn't make enough money, it makes plenty, but apparently the land it worth more than what they make off concerts there, and just like everything in America, its all about money, and not passion. But yeah I had to make the mistake of looking up Old Indiana in wikipedia... I don't miss the park much really. The water park was cool, but I was agravated because it was so cheap and close our family Kings Island trips ended up becoming boring Old Indiana trips. They had 2 coasters: the mad mouse and the ripoff of the Wildcat from Cedar Point. The rest were just fair rides. The owners deserved what they got when it closed, as they got a fake saftey inspector to inspect all their rides and attractions, and it cost someone's life, and a 4 year old ended up paralyzed waist down! A huge lawsuit occured and it bankrupted the owners. But the site, especially with the waterpark, would of made an awesome six flags! there was like nothing but open fields around it, and I was thinking how Great America tore down the shockwave in 2002, the year it was supposed to open: That coaster could have been ours! A looping coaster bigger than The Vortex! It does seem like the Amusement park gods are against us. Everything always falls through.
  15. I mean its not that big of a deal, since KI is only like an hour and a half away, but considering the cost of gas prices, it would be nice to not have to drive far. BTW Holiday world and Indiana Beach are lame. We went to Holiday world once, stayed for 2 hour and left it was so horrible. And as for indiana beach, well it runs like a state fair: In otherwords you have to buy tickets to get on rides. I just don't get why six flags didn't open up here. if you already have the coasters on the property, why not open up? Seems like all six flags knows how to do these days is buy parks and exploit them (Kentucky Kingdom) or buy parks and give up and sell them. Whats really stupid is Six Flags paid for these coasters, and then ended up scrapping them! Spend all that money then not even open. And still what ever happened to this Garfield's Adventure land that was supposed to open up in Noblesville?
  16. Honestly its just the suspended style of coaster that's lame. I mean, top gun isn't bad, but its just too short, and honestly, it needs to have some inversions.
  17. 2 parks, 2 failures. After Old Indiana closed, Six Flags bought the property and immediatly rounded up old roller coasters to put on the property...however Six Flags Indy never opened. Instead the site's a stupid wildlife reserve. And then theres the Garfield Park that never opened. What gives? I love Kings Island, and hate Kentucky Kingdom, but either way I'm sick of having to drive to go to an amusement park!
  18. I do hope in light of the new purchase they change it back to the old "water works" name. It'll always be Water Works in my heart
  19. I do think in the long run it will be a good thing. Cedar Fair just needs to ditch that horrible music. Maybe get off the Muzak bandwagon and jump on the XM/Serious bandwagon. Theres plenty better things to play than that crap!
  20. Cormaster replied to VortexPKIFreak's topic in Rumors
I can't ride spinny rides. The delerium would make me vomit, I guarantee it. As for the slingshot I tried it once... not worth the $20 I paid to get on it. Going up is cool but after that, its lame. Yeah there are cool rides that aren't coasters... Drop Zone, Tomb Raider, but Come on, Delirium is some stupid state fair ride. Anyway why does KI need to tear rides down when they have so much Forrest and Corn Fields to expand in? Just make the park bigger! I was impressed they finally extended it to build Firehawk! Anyway regardless of how popular the stupid fair ride is, the Cobra was historic, and though I don't miss it much, if they can get rid of it, than all bets are off for the 'tex.
  21. Man what KI has always lacked is a good inverted coaster. When I saw they built face off, I was excited and thought "finally" so you can imagine my dissapointment when I came to the park and saw that little tiny thing. I immediatly thought "thats it?". I love inverted coasters nearly as much as the classic steel loopers and B&M seems to be the best, so I can only hope we finally get our own version of "Batman the Ride"! BTW has anyone seen the verison of Top gun they have at Carowinds? Made me mad. Why does their Top Gun rock and ours is so lame?
  22. Cormaster replied to VortexPKIFreak's topic in Rumors
The Vortex IS my favorite coaster. I read the about the sinking rumor on Wikipedia, in which also mentioned that its not true. I did hear a rumor in 2005 that it was already gone, just because they plan on putting a new ride in its place. Luckily when I came out there in October it was still there. Unless they plan on building a new steel looper to replace it, They need to keep that thing going forever. To me its a staple to ride it, and i usually do it 3 or 4 times every trip. I never imagined they would even think about getting rid of The Vortex, but I thought the same with King Cobra, especially with the Cobra being history and the first of its kind. You can imagine my suprise when I show up in 2003 and see some stupid Delirium ride where it once stood!
  23. Friday's are still a weekday. I went last friday and didn't have any problems at all. Flight of Fear has an hour wait as usual, The Beast takes about an hour to get on probably as usual, but I was able to walk right on to Top Gun, Face Off, The Racer, and even Italian Job! And of course The Vortex, I hit it up 4 times.
  24. Its always been a good park regardless of the owner. The key thing is they keep expanding. People heard me complain about Six Flags Kentucky Kingdom. Thats because it was still a relatively new park when Six Flags bought it, and since they've bouht it, other than the recycled Greased lightning (which is weaker than the Vampire coaster it replaced) they've failed to expand the park at all. Last time I went to Kentucky Kingdom I rode Chang, and T2, and I was like "what now?" There was an hour line for all the weaker coasters, you know all 2 of them so I decided "lets go ride Chang again". After riding chang again, we all got bored and left. Even when Kings Island only had 4 (when I first went there: The Beast, The Racer, The Vortex, and King Cobra), at least they were all good quality coasters, and line flow has always been good. The Beast was much better in the day when they actually had a concession stand working in the line, and music videos on moniters. I remember going in the early 90's and seeing Nirvana playing live on one of the moniters. But yeah above all my thing with Kings Island will always be sentimental value. No other park has it. For a while when I was kid, twice a year was a stable, but sadley, I've only been 4 times since 2000. Thats going to change though, as I might be going back in August and even October (the best time to go... last time I went in october, I staid only 5 hours and rode everything twice!) BTW I'd be fine with Classical music, or even poppy mainstream stuff. not that I like it, but still better than Paul McCartney and Steeley Dan Fest! The Music might not be as bad if I hadn't heard it for 4 years. When I first started at lowes I was like "eh this aint to bad", and 2 weeks later I acctually started plotting to steal the Muzak box and smash it!
  25. Well anyway no I'm not comparing the modern day Kings Island to Cedar Point... in fact the year I went to Cedar Point, I went to KI twice that summer. I can't even tell you how many times I've been to Kings Island, in fact it was my amusement park at age 8, and my first coaster I ever rode was The Vortex (which is probably why its my favorite). Honestly with Cedar Point, it was just the poor choice of scheduling for the youth group i went with in 1996. If we had gone on a different day I might like it more. I usually try to completely avoid all parks on a Saturday, in fact thats the only park I've ever been too on saturday! Acctually our wedding's going to be on friday, and on saturday we are just going to play in the waterpark in the great wolf lodge. Sunday we are leaving KI and heading up towards Cedar Point, where we will be staying for 3 nights and 2 days in one of their resorts, and Wednesday we leave Cedar Point to head for Six Flags Great america. Wednesday night we'll just hang out in downtown chicago, then Thursday and Friday we will spend at the park. Thats our Wedding and Honey Moon for next year! Oh BTW Kman6 my GF was just an half an inch from being able to ride tomb raider, but luckily there's a test harness outside of the ride so you don't have to chance the line if you know you can't ride it. She tells me she can't ride Flight of Fear either because the harnesses are like the itailian job except they come down and buckle.
