  1. I guess its a mental game you have to trick yourself out of. I am going to do it this summer, but when my friend was on it, the train didn't get over the hump twice and it came back down two times before it got over the first hill. HAH! At that moment I was like I am happy I did NOT go, but in another I dreaded not going on it.
  2. Last summer, I made the track up to KI and CP for the first time since 2000 and had a total blast with my best friend. Except there was one ride at CP I couldn't do and probably still won't do this summer. I didn't do "Top Thrill Dragster" for one simple reason...I AM SCARED OF HEIGHTS! I can do Millenium Force without any problems, but chickened out of TTD while we stood in line and even got to where you board and backed out. Walked in and out of the train. I don't have a fear of coasters, its just the height issue and MF still makes me nervous when I get on that. I don't want to close my eyes and be that sort of chicken in a sense, but I want to experience it. If you know what I mean? Anyone else have a fear of heights and ever scared to get on that or any other way up there rides?
  3. I wouldn't mind having King Cobra come back at KI; but if they were to do a stand-up one I love to see it be like Vortex at Carowinds. The one thing I liked about KC was that the seats didn't seem to MOVE and they locked for once. One time when I rode Vortex at Carowinds I got a seat that wouldn't lock and it wasn't set to my standing height. I screamed for them to stop the ride because my seat was bouncing up and down and they wouldn't stop it! It finally locked going down the first hill and locked where I think it was at its peak in how high it goes up and I was sitting on the bicyle seat and hanging on for dear life. I am not a huge fan of Mantis and Vortex at those two parks because I never get a locking seat, but it hasn't stopped me from riding them!
  4. Wow! I enjoyed this when I was out there in 2004, had tons of fun.
  5. What is this ride anyways?
  6. Thanks. I thought there might be a weight restriction too. Coasterz - The kid has no fear, and my brother always tried to get me to go on these rides and I would never go until I was tricked into going and Vortex was literally my first one I ever went on that went upside down. She's been to KI before, and my brother said she wanted to ride Vortex and she was just barely under the requirement. I think Vortex will set her straight or make her want to go on more like it. We are doing KI first and then taking her to Cedar Point (which hasn't been to yet) and CP has more in that 48" height range that may test her fears.
  7. My 6 y/o niece is tall for her age and a huge dare devil. She's going to be 46-48" tall when it comes time for our trip to both parks this summer and I am scared that if she is 48 that she will go on the big coasters and I am worried about how the harnesses will come down on her. She barely weighs 40 pounds and there will be no stopping her if she is allowed to go. I told my brother I will not ride with her if she can go on any upside coaster for this reason. Anyone have an experience taking a young child like between 6-8 years old who could ride an upside down coaster like The Vortex? I was much much much older the first time I rode these type of coasters and just worried about it. Thanks!
  8. Ok I am going back to KI a month after to the day I went! Has Drop Zone opened back up?
  9. Its never going to be the same as it was! No matter what they do. I was so upset to see it being torn down when I was there in February and watched the memories of Wynadot Lake be taken away forever.
  10. http://www.kentucky.com/471/story/122285.html Just found this about the girl who's feet were severed, parents are sueing on behalf of the lil girl.
  11. I was at KI on Wednesday and didn't hear it or anyone screaming on it. I wasn't going to ride it anyways....but didn't pay any attention to it if it was working.
  12. Well i guess I am part of the stupid ?'s club when it comes to amusement parks....I even asked on I think it was Vortex if it went upside down...well duh! I guess I wasn't paying attention!
  13. It was 2000 the last time I went to KI, cause I went to both CP and KI and after I posted this we were looking at the pictures from the last time and this and saw it was 2000. My bad. I forgot we went back to Ohio the summer after we moved for my cousin's graduation and that was 2000. My bad! I always thought it was 1999 for some odd reason. For Flight Commander; I was 10 years old when that happened...my brother begged to see if I was tall enough and I was and we were standing in line when it happened. We didn't see the lady actually fall, but saw the ending part of it before she hit the ground. I still remember that like it was yesterday and it scared me for years to come. It took me 5 years to get back on any sort of thrill ride. All we heard that whole day was the guy on there with her had a heart attack and she took her restraints off to help him and she hit the stick which caused it to go upside down. I have always thought that was the story. I never got to ride it and no one I know did, so I don't know the full story behind it. It just scarred me and I still remember seeing that lady hit the ground in my mind. What it was I guess I was scared of falling out of the seats on an upside down ride like that lady did...it look me a long time to ever get back on a ride. Sorry for the mix up on dates....it was 2000 for SOB. :smacks head: Duh! Been so long as I've said! LOL
  14. No problems for me to hold them up! LOL My arms are so short anyways, but I don't have them up anyways. I have never known anyone to hit the tunnel walls or the ceiling.
  15. Ok, the weather was perfect yesterday for a trip to the park! After going to the Harry Potter premiere the night before, my friend and I still managed to get ourselves up and get down to Cincinnati by 11am and spent the day there! Alot has changed since the last time I was there, but it was nice to go back after not going for so long. No complaints really, the lines weren't that bad. The worst was "Face Off," and that was the same as back the last time I went to KI. I had asked about "Flight of Fear" and such on here before going. My friend and I both had a hard time after we got off of it the last time and weren't planning to go on it. But after we talked to some one while standing in line, they had said they had problems with the restraints before and I am glad we went on it. It wasn't as jerky and plus I came off of it without a headache and neck and back pains! My friend had never gone a ride like "Firehawk" and I had have been on "The Borg" ride at Carowinds and I was like I hate this kind of ride. She was like why? I was like I felt like I was going to go flying literally out of the stupid ride! Well she wanted to go on it and I wasn't going to pass up a thrill ride, but Firehawk didn't make me feel like that as "Borg" did which was weird to me. I was anticipating it and hanging on for dear life. Ya know how on some stand-up coaster's you get the seat that moves up and down and never locks...or it does when get down the first hill? Maybe I got that on "Borg." It was weird. SOB I miss the loop! I only rode it one time with the loop and that was the year it opened and I missed it. Didn't care to find out if Drop Zone was working, didn't pay attention. Wasn't goin to ride it anyways if it was. LOL Vortex brings back memories cause it was my friend and mine's first upside down ride together. She tricked me into it, after I stopped riding rides all together after watching the lady fall out of "Flight Commander" (I think it was called that) and we got to the top of the hill and she goes "I've never rode this before!" Yeah reall smart, but I loved it and we jokingly said that hey we have ridden this before, right? hah The rides are still jerkier than most places to me, but I had no complaints. I was having too much fun! Now its off to Cedar Point saturday for one final day of fun before heading back to NC!
  16. They don't make em waterproof? My friend has one on her leg and was able to go to Six Flags and enjoy it water rides and all!
  17. They don't make em waterproof? My friend has one on her leg and was able to go to Six Flags and enjoy it water rides and all!
  18. My friend and I are heading there Wednesday or Thursday of next week...depending on the weather. Happy to see that SOB has re-opened...can't wait to go! I haven't been since 1999 and neither has my friend, so this will be really exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!
  19. My brother's friend when he went to Cedar Point and when we went to Kings Island with a cast on...he didn't have problems riding the rides...just didn't do the water rides.
  20. hands down for me is Flight of Fear! I had the worse headache and neck pains the last time I rode it and doubt I will ever get back on it.
  21. I rode this when they were really letting people ride it....the year it opened they never had it opened, but the restraints to me where the worse part of it. It was jerky, but I have been on worse (Flight of Fear was worse) but I thought it was so awesome with the loop and such, but I hope that its not as jerky now w/o it. Hope not as bad...but all rides are jerky in some way.
  22. I was at KI the day the kid fell...actually was standing in line when it happened...I am happy they are doing a thorough inspection on these kids of rides cause of what happened that that little girl. I hope its opened when I am there in a couple of weeks, but if not it will be ok too.
  23. They changed the name of the Jr Beast? That was my lil cousin's favorite ride there! Have they re-opened Drop Zone? Don't know if I will chance that since what happened to that little girl. Its one of my favorite rides at KI and Carowinds.
  24. I am planning to see it when I head to Kings Island in a couple of weeks. I remember seeing a skating show in the 90's at Carowinds...and I loved it. I am a huge fan of figure skating, can't wait to see this one!
