It was on! I believe that was his point!

Tower Johnny?(or something like that)
Mighty Mouse replied to CP+KI Girl's topic in Kings Island History
It was. I know it was Miamisburg's grad night event for one. My ex-husband and his best friend were at the park that night. And, for what it's worth, I do remember stories from then mentioning the counterweights and partial decapitation. I think that was from newspaper stories at the time but it might have been the story floating around the schools at the time too. I remember hearing that he had been drinking also. Kind of says something that alcohol seems to go hand-in-hand with people doing stupid stuff at amusement parks, doesn't it? -
Tom, you might want to edit your Terpy quote. You have everybody telling what they know right now. I am curious when so many of the newer members decided that they are moderators because they spend much of their time telling others that their posts are unacceptable and quoting the TOS that they themselves violate frequently. I sincerely hope that during the off-season most of these annoyances get bored and leave this forum the way it was before they got here.

Some people use a pencil and paper that they keep in their pocket and mark on the brake run (including at least one poster here), others keep notes in their phones/blackberries, others keep a running total in their head (on a day by day basis it is simple math), others have a spreadsheet on their computer at home, etc... Bottom line, how do you know it's 1,000 and not 999 - because they said so. Thank you for the answer. I was truly curious as to how people kept track. l usually take people at their word unless I know that they have lied to me in the past. Unless the claim is so incredulous that it is just impossible to believe. 1000 rides for someone who is retired or on summer vacation is very achievable. I'm sorry if I came across as someone who was doubting their word on ride counts. That was not my intention. I was just looking for an answer to the question my son asked me.

Trust me, if I made a joke, iChase (sorry, it's true) and other members would go on rants about how my post didn't add to this thread. I'm going to stop now, because I don't want it to happen. And The Interpreter has been around this board since almost the beginning and consistently adds to the knowledge of the people on this forum so we allow him some leeway that we don't grant to people who joined two weeks ago. When you have been here as long as he has and have contributed as much as he has, we will be happy to grant you that same privilege.

How do you go about documenting the actual number of rides? I applaud his accomplishment I'm just curious how you know it's 1,000 and not 999?

I'd be really careful what websites come up when you google that. At least at work!

Throwing items from the Eifel Tower
Mighty Mouse replied to ziggystardust458's topic in Kings Island
I got hit in the face by a coin dropped from the first observation deck when it was still open and it most certainly did NOT feel like a bug hitting me! Left a little welt for awhile. -
One of my biggest frustrations with the newest group of posters is the horrible spelling. It takes a decoder ring to understand some of these posts. And the biggest offenders seem to feel the need to post in every topic making it difficult to read through the threads. You are NOT going to be taken seriously if you won't even make the effort to spell first grade level words correctly.

With so many people on this forum yelling about how rough SOB is and how much it hurts them, isn't it possible that, even though SOB has been apparently cleared of responsibility in the woman's injury, the Powers-that-be at the park are looking into whether some modifications might still be needed? They might be collecting expert opinions on whether or not adjustments need to be made and how to make them. It could also be possible that KI execs are waiting for a go-ahead on any plans they've made from CF headquarters and CF is more focused on their home park instead of the park four hours away. Thus delaying any decisions just a little longer? You add enough small delays together and you get one big one.

I gotta ask...why'd you try to feed the dead fishies? Don't you think it's just a little too late for them?

It's a coaster! Isn't it supposed to?

No, I was calm. So you think just because they don't like me, I don't have the right to complain? Like what Kat said, all of that should be left at the door. They should know better then to say that at work. So, you better believe that I had EVERY right to complain. I think you had a right to complain. The fact is, in a customer service position, even if a customer is abusive (and I'm not saying you were) the employee should NEVER respond rudely it's just not professional. If the ride op had a problem with you, he should have gotten a supervisor to deal with you not made that comment. The reason he didn't is that he knew his boss would have told him that he was wrong. Sadly, more and more places don't enforce a professional work ethic for their employees. As to guest relations, unfortunately, you fell victim to the "teenagers don't matter" syndrome. It sucks but there is not much you can do about it until the large percentage of teenagers around you realizes that they are not the center of the entire universe.

That's half the fun If you can make it, then you can ride. You just won't be in the park long afterwards lol You know that if someone did ride nude, it would be one of us plus-sized people with supersized love handles, don't you?
-
Since none of us was there when the remark was made to you, we can speculate all day about the intent of the ride op. My comment is directed toward when you went to Guest Relations. When you spoke to the first person there, were you fairly calm in describing what had happened or were you yelling at the Guest Rep about what had been said to you? We've all had that "last straw" that pushes us over the edge into a tantrum. If you were yelling in GR, they probably just viewed you as someone out of control. With people like that, if you can't calm them down quickly, the best you can do is try to get them to go away quietly. If you want to be taken seriously, you need to take a deep breath and calmly explain what happened and why you don't think it was someone making a joke. You will be more likely to get the result you are looking for then. I'm not trying to get you mad by saying this. I'm just someone who's BTDT on both sides of the issue.
-
It just gives me a visual of someone taking a deep breath and trying to get all of the words said before their oxygen runs out.
-
Was that taken with a digital camera? If not, then you probably double-exposed the film somehow.
-
I would agree to that, if I am allowed to wear my double beer can hard hat on the ride!!!! The people behind you might not be as happy about your beer can hat!
-
It wasn't real comfortable for female riders either. My son was just the right age at the time to want to ride it a few times every time we went to the park.
-
I don't know about rides I've NEVER ridden. I have such an issue with heights that I tend to skip the really tall coasters just because of the first hill. I WOULD like to use the KIC time machine and ride The Bat one more time. Those of you who never got the chance on that one missed something fun.

You shall not be dissapointed. I knew I could count on you Beast1979

Those of us unable to make the event would really appreciate pictures and trip reports posted as soon as possible afterward. Thanks in advance.

Questions About Site Performance
Mighty Mouse replied to The Interpreter's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
Additionally, switching from Firefox to Opera, I am no longer experiencing loading delays. This is getting curiouser and curiouser! I am getting the same error messages when I log in but if I reload the page, I am signed in too. I haven't had any loading time delays, though. -
Why couldn't they do like AAA does (or the BMV, for that matter)? Give you a 2009 sticker to put on your pass. Each year you renew it, they could give you a new sticker for that year. Low cost, low confusion. It couldn't cost that much to print and, when needed, mail a small label to passholders.
