it was actually th1980s movie that was shown in the theater during FearFest... lol. Rivertown was supposed to actually be rethemed for all seasons, at least that’s what I remember hearing. It seems strange, but then again that was Paramount... . I could see The Beast is quite similar to the final chase scenes in the movie... lol

They actual showed the movie Friday the 13th in the paramount theater during FearFest. On a side note, I believe at one point that there was a consideration of retheming Rivertown to be Camp Crystal Lake. I can’t inagine what kind of rides they would theme into that area.

For one season of FearFest, before It became a Rivertown overlay, there was a haunt spring up building that was right next to the International Showplace in the field where the musical Christmas tree display was located for Winterfest this year and it was called Sleepy Hollow. It might have fit in well in that location. However i believe that the Addams Family coaster was in competition with BLSC and lost, so it may have gone in that location had it won.

Just an observation. “Giga” is still in the snow on the MT camera view. If the park was upset about it being there, don’t you think they might shovel it out or throw salt on it? .... reminds me of a song “Let’s give em somthing to talk about.... a little mystery to figure out”

Giga-dy, giga-dy, goo!
-
Who ever did it.... it’s a great PR stunt that got folks talking. Maybe “Giga” is the name of the new restaurant going into Coney Mall.

I wouldn’t mind seeing a salad bar where you tell an employee what you want and they add it to a romaine or iceberg salad all for a price of around $9. There is a restaurant downtown that sells salads that way and they are so good!

I was completely blown away with Winterfest. What I expected to be a one or two visit adventure turned into several weeks. I was so impressed. I enjoyed the hot chocolate and candies, the food sight and sounds. Every minute was truly building a memory. I cannot wait to see what’s in store for next year! The shows were fantastic and the kids in the shows truly enjoyed performing! It was just like the shows of the old Kings Island days. I want to thank those in charge of creating this event. From the tree lighting ceremony to last few minutes of the evening. It was a blast to come and explore and to make memories that will last a lifetime!

I’d love to see more indoor or covered/heated areas. We missed a close call with very good weather this year, but tonight (the last night of the event) is going to be frigid! Any way to hop from indoors to indoors along the way would be fantastic! Whose going tonight? It’s bound to be incredibly beautiful with the snow covering the midways!!!

There is a lot of “dead space” (no pun intended but perhaps recommended... I’d like to see a dark ride) between Killmart and SR&R. I’d expect to see some improvements and additions there before anywhere else in Coney Mall (present season 2018 not included... see construction on the west end).

It would be wonderful if they could open them, but I think they can only operate with higher temperatures. I would love to see a “lodge” type spring-up building in the woods behind either the Crypt building or behind The Racer with comfortable setting around a Roaring fireplace where guests can enjoy an atmosphere similar to the Reds Grill sing along and watch it snow from the lodge windows. All would be Comfy and cozy having spiked drinks and singing carols.

Take a look at the webcams! It looks so beautiful in the snow!

Great idea! I could see several “new years” band stand venues throughout the park with live band performers like in nyc with a “ball drop” from the WindSeeker and have a year on top of the tower. Who knows, maybe next year...

What ideas do you have for future Winterfest events? 1. I’d like to see BLSC plaza used for a model train display 2. How about putting an “ice castle” meet and greet on the “mountain” also know as Flight Commander pad? 3. WindSeeker Tower could be used for a light show, perhaps Christmas tree number two. 4. Of course SR&R could operate with an awesome light package. 5. Theme the back of Coney Mall to Rivertown as the Ice Kingdom with those white jeweled lights like the trees in Ice Zone. (They are beautiful!) 6. Perhaps an area dedicated to the Nut Cracker Ballet. There are so many things they could add. I’m excited for next year!

Years ago, on a dark summer night, there were a couple of kids in the lead car of The Racer that lit up on the lift hill.... there were red sparkles flying through the air for the duration on the ride. Luckily no one or any part of the ride/park went up in a blaze. They were reported by numerous people and they were detained in the station.
-
I would imagine that the few items that have “2017” on them will be discounted, otherwise the other Christmas items most likely would probably be packed away for next years event.
-
The “Winterfest” mug is refillable. It’s a white mug that is refillable for free the night that you buy it and refillable for a $1 each subsequent visit.

A nice ride through winter scenery would have been nice in the Antique Cars.... other than that they have just the right amount of rides and the right rides open. I’m looking forwards to next years expansion. I think the corridor between Rivertown Pizza and Killmart has a ton of decorating potential. (And an additional ride/ lighting package in SRaR)

My understanding is that the work crew worked until 4am the morning of the event to finalize lighting and testing. Bravo! They did a fantastic job!
-
Yes. Only one prop was stuck... the flower pot guy about mid course was stuck in the up position... lol. What does he usually say? Is it “hey ho gotta go”?
-
Also.... I’m surprised that I haven’t read any reviews of the Christmas overlay of Boo Blasters. There are black ornaments, some purple garland and the “Boos” are wearing Santa hats,.. lol!

Saturday was PACKED! Sunday was just short of packed. There seemed to be more people in attendance than at Haunt. Yay! I really think word got out to the masses after opening weekend.

Yay for warm cinnamon pull apart bread!!!!

You can get the BAF discount at the gate. Guest services told me you can’t buy the ticket online the day of the event... I don’t know why though. You can call guest services at 513-754-5700 about the gold pass buffet discount. I’m guessing that it only applies for the card holder though.
