Don't forget the $149.99 goes to KI for a Cure and not to the park's bottom line like everything else. Also keep in mind that the park will likely offer VIP "first rider" seats in the spring like they did for Diamondback and also to raise money for one of the park's charities. Few 'one of a kind' or 'experiences' sold/auctioned off for charitable functions go for the kind of prices most enthusiasts like ourselves can afford.

As for saving money on food, if you're looking for a lot of bang for your buck, Hank's burrito shack is a good value. Also, the chicken nuggets and fresh cut fries combo (nuggets and fries) isn't bad at 10.00 at coney mall and riverotwn potato. the park also features subway and chick fila. At larosas, you can get 2 slices and a drink for about $10 as well. Have fun!

There are lots of food options--pizza (Larosas), ice cream (greaters and blue ice cream) chicken (chic fila, chix nugets in coney mall/rivertown), chili (skyline) and on and on..as far as rides, if you can, you may want to invest in Fast Lane wristbands, which in most cases, reduces your wait time to just a couple of minutes (exception--Flight of Fear on busy days where even Fast Lane is about a 20 min wait). go on their website, read about the rides and decide which you like. Beast and Diamondback are the park's signature coasters, but there are many others as well. Have fun!

Starting to Decode gone?
Gabe replied to DBInternational's topic in KICentral Footnotes & Small News
considering Don just created a new thread about the last dive in movie tonight, I'm assuming that the park still sees merit in interacting with the membership of this site. -

without going into too much detail, emails and other electronic communciations can be entered into evidence (see the many cases on illegal music downloads). It wouldn't be tampering until official charges are filed against the alleged tresspasser. -
I've been on this forum since 2007 and I don't recall that the discussion/speculation over what turned out to be Diamondback was half as bad as this has gotten.

Speaking of which, have we heard anything recently about how that girl is doing without feet? I imagine living without feet would be very difficult. As I recall, the park settled with the victim's family out of court for an undisclosed sum a couple of years back. To my knowledge, she has not been in the news as of late. Trying to live a normal life as best she can.

What part of Ohio do you live in? If the Browns or Bengals don't sell out, the local affiliate has the option to pick any NFL game on the slate. I know there is a website where they list via color coded map, which parts of the US get each NFL game. I'd love to be there, but will be at the Colts-Raiders game in Indy that day (season tix holder since 1984!)

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at WDW
Gabe replied to Screaming_Chicken's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
That princess theming has made Disney a LOT of money in recent years, so dont be so quick to dismiss it. The SDMT was in direct response to the need for a new snow white dark ride to replace SWSA, which is now being revamped for a princess meet and greet. Being Disney, they decided to take Uncle Walt's advice and see how they could 'plus' the new ride. -
Typically, renewing in the fall is your best bet--lowest prices, plus free parking (if past practices hold). If you are lucky enough to attend a private park event (buyout), the renewal prices are often lower than those offered to the GP.

Seven Dwarfs Mine Train at WDW
Gabe replied to Screaming_Chicken's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The mountain itself is done, but all the interior theming remains. The ride is officially set to open in the spring of 2014, but knowing Disney, I would not be shocked to see a soft open sometime in February. -
I wonder if they could fill up the stands if he played a concert there? I doubt it at this point, thought it would be kind of cool to have acts like this, past their prime playing shows at the theater behind Eiffel Tower, where you could seel limited tickets for the stands, but the music would funnel out to the general park population. Steve Miller Band will always be in their prime. Would it fill Timberwolf? Without a doubt. I would probably drive home from Williamsburg just to see it. Promoters these days don't see Timberwolf as a viable option--outdated facility, limited capacity, set in an amusement park, etc. smaller shows that play Cincy are more apt to go to PNC Pavillion, Taft, US Bank or even the new Horseshoe before Timberwolf. It works for something like Spirit Song, which is geared toward kids who would like to be at Ki anyway, but not for much else. It's never stopped Busch Gardens. The Styx show sold out in a day. The park was packed that day. KC and the Sunshine Band are coming next month. I believe it is also sold out. These old bands will always bring in people. Which happened because the band's asking price probably fit the park's budget. I'm sure if KI wanted to, they could bring in one of those old bands, but they seem to to be doing quite well with their in-park musical shows.

A big drawback to said signs is the fact that they can be easily manipulated by simply turning a dial on the back of the sign. I have seen many a teenager change the signs all over the park. If the park wanted to get an accurate wait time, they would do what parks like Disney do and give random people in line a necklace w a plastic card, in which is embedded a chip. When reaching the front, the card is scanned and wait times are updated accordingly.

I've seen P and T in Vegas and Penn does indeed spell out how the trick is done..however, it doesn't mean that we can duplicate it! I for one would rather not attempt the magic bullet trick! After the show they stayed outside the theatre for autographs/pics for about 15 mins, which I thought was cool.

Even though only 25% of the land can be ever be developed at WDW, there is still plenty of room for 2-3 more gates, plus hotels. Being first has its advantages!

keep in mind the entire concept of epcot changed dramatically from seed to germination (and from Walt's original vision for the "Florida Project"). The idea was to offset the cost of the park with (lucrative) corporate sponsorships, much like the 64 world's fair. Same for the world showcase, in which the host country paid a fee to be there. There's a reason a new country hasnt been added since Morocco, even though space exists for several more countries, should the circumstances arise.

Nooo! Much like his recent films, the ride would suck!

The Indy zoo is currently building an orangutan exhibit which will open next year, featuring a monorail-type ride through it. While nowwhere near the size of say the cincy zoo, it is easily done in a half day (including the 4-d, carousel and coaster) without breaking the bank. The dolphin show is fun too. I last went this previous fall with my kids on a cool, rainy day. the zoo was empty, but the animals were VERY active! (lions roaring constantly, tigers prancing all around, etc.) def better than the way they look on most hot summer days (lethargic).

The loop inside the silloutte of Mickey is really fun. It's a fun coaster..very smooth, lots of airtime. I rode it I think 10x the last time I was in CA.

If you're interested in a job in the PR industry, try calling or emailing Don at the park, explain your interest and ask if you can bend his ear for a bit. I've found him to be very approachable and nice, so hopefully he'd make a bit of time for you. As an attorney, I'm always trying to give back by offering to mentor law students or offer up my workplace as a place to job shadow. While Don's job may seem glamorous, it's not all peaches and cream. I'm glad he's the park's spokesperson, compared to the people Paramount had.

For those inclined, you may want to seek out a series of tv specials from a few years back called 'Magic's Biggest Secrets Revealed' where a 'masked magician' (so as not to reveal his identity) performs some popular illusions/tricks, followed by a narrator breaking down each trick in detail as to how it's done with the help of the magician, who never speaks. The girl in a box trick is one such trick featured. Of course there are those of us who just like magic and would prefer not to know how things are done!

Look for information about the 2014 event to be announced in late winter/early spring. I'm sure they're planning the 2014 event as we speak.

To counter that post, methinks thou doth protest too much. The show is billed as a 'psycho circus of magic and mayhem'. All magic shows use assistants (women) who are scantily dressed..it's to divert you from what the magician is doing. I don't think ed's dancers are clothed inappropriately at all. They look more on the lines of burlesque dancers. Now, of course the park could post a disclaimer at the theatre saying the show is intended for mature audiences only, instead of a sign saying smoke effects are used. I would have no problems taking my kids to see his show..goodness knows they've probably seen or heard worse at school or home.

Then you would have enjoyed the midget wrestling the park hosted during Haunt 2010 and 2011. It was entertaining to say the least and more than a bit raunchy. Def R-rated. If I were rating Alonzo's sho, I'd give it a PG..fairly tame...that said, I am looking forward to seeing what he will do for Haunt.
