This may actually be the theme to Tales From the Crypt. I heard that theme at the park on 10/4, and the two songs are very similar (although I don't remember hearing either one in SD&THC that day). I remember the first time I rode PT, I was struck by how close the two sound. The rhythms are very close, and the note progressions are very similar. I love me some Danny Elfman, one of the best composers when it comes to creepy Halloween-y type movie/TV music. It is NOT the Tales from the Crypt music, as that music is copyrighted and, to my knowledge, has not granted a license to the park for its use. The music IS similar and is the music that was used in the PT before its transformation to scooby. Such similarities are allowed to a certain extent under the law. There are many lawsuits that deal with copying other people's music without permission. One that comes to mind is when George Harrison lost a suit where the Chiffons sued him for ripping off the music from their 'He's So Fine' song for his 'My Sweet Lord' song.

Most casinos are set up so that you must walk the casino floor to get to the elevator banks that lead to your rooms. The exception was the Alladdin/PH, which had elevators one level below check in, where you could bypass the casino..and they went bankrupt before pH bought them! At DB, the chain is obviously set up as a deterrent to keep you going in a straight line through the gift shop. of course I, like many others on this board will unhook the chain when I'm power lapping..but I usually remember to rechain it!

It's pretty common for major rides to empty into some money-generating attraction, be it a restaurant, gift shop, arcade, etc. Disney is a good model for this. I'm sure theft is kept to a minimum since there are security cameras positioned in the shops.

Judging by the lines I saw on Sunday, this sale is proving to be very popular, esp since they advertise regular gold passes for 2010 to be 89.99. I waited in the Nick U store line for about 25 mins on Sun..by the time I left the park that evening, the line had wrapped around the store 1.5 times..but I liked the system they were using, which was to basically recode your 09 pass for 2010 and give it back to you--no pictures, no filling out any paperwork, nothing. It kept the line moving pretty consistiently..I'm sure if Dick Kinzel were there Sun, he's be very happy with what he saw.

Staying at WDW, I'd go with Splash Mountain..the better one..from WDW!

This is as low as they'll be..things liek parking may still be free, but my guess is that after the season ends you'll pay to upgrade to gold and the base price will def be higher. I'd say act now. I'll be renewing this wknd at the park to take advantage of the 69.99 deal.
-
I'm mildly impressed by the fact that the park is utilizing the nick store to process renewals of season passes..thus shortening the lines at the entrance to the park..if I recall, there are about 6-7 terminals set up inside the nick store..when I was there over labor day weekend, there was hardly anything nick-related left in the store..just one or two shelves shoved into a far corner of the store. I plan to renew my pass at the park opening wknd of Haunt at the nick store, so I'll report back on how the experience was.

Nice TR Rachel!! BTW the 'purdy' bridge is the Roebling Suspension Bridge-built by Roebling just a few yrs before the better known Brooklyn Bridge...so you could say th Roebling is a 1st gen bridge and the one in nyc is a clone..lol! Also, the park map in first aid was from 76 if I recall correctly. We lawyers get paid big bucks to remember details..lol! I'll look forward to seeing you at Haunt and in mid-Oct for your next adventure

Which of these rides should I definitely ride this Saturday
Gabe replied to Scott Evans's topic in Kings Island
Ride Invertigo and Firehawk right when the park opens..otherwise the lines will be horribly long. -
It was also the trip where i got my first ride on DT..during RWW, I promised Kat i'd go on it, then chickened out at teh last minute, so I had to make good on my promise! I was also the unfortunate one to get the bee sting..it was in the line for sdathc..the trash can was overflowing..usually teh park does a good job with trash but this particular one was attracting bees and other flying insects..anyway, it was a low throbbing pain, but im not allergic to bee stings, so i went on the ride, then stalker and kat took on the joint role of my mother and made me walk over to first aid, where i was in and out in 2 mins..they gave me some wet nap thing that alleviated the pain and some ice to reduce the swelling and i was out the door..my first visit to first aid in all my years of going to the park!

She's going to be hazed, I'm sure..lol..i'm actually meeting up with her on sun about 9 at the park before her shift begins at 4 for some rides, so if you're there, come join us! we're meeting at the hearse just to the right of the front gate (assuming its still there).

Which is why KI's newly-minted security officer, Kat, will be front and center enforcing the rules! I have her cell number, so I expect to see her after I call to report any line jumpers I see on the rides during my visits this wknd!!

Because if someone was smoking on a roller coaster, and their lit cigarette flew back, hit and burned me, I'd get thrown out of the park for whooping their ***. and then Terpy or I would have to represent you in Court and arrange to bail you out of jail!

My experience with Days Inns have not been good..there are some nice hotels in blue ash, which is about 8 miles down the highway from the park and not as congested..just do a search on orbitz or expedia or hotels.com and read the guest reviews for your other choices.

Kat, Do you have Berlioz's Symphonie Fantastique? The 4th movement is great for halloween...also Schubert's unfinished 8th symphony is good as well. I have both and if you want I can get them to you this wknd.

I believe at the other friendly KI fansite kiextreme.com you can download it.

Disney used to have staged fights all the time in frontierland betweeen cowboys and indians, but they were done away with for the most part some years back. I do know that on special occasions, mainly in the summertime, Disney will bring back the fights for a very short run (prob to cater to nostalgic parents). When I worked there, they had them from time to time in the height of the busy summer season. I don't see KI bringing them back, esp with CF running the show since that's out of their wheelhouse, so to speak.

Much like other announcements, while the information may be known by the media and selected other people, there is a park-imposed gag order until a certain date..could be for any number of reasons..I'm guessing each park has a different time frame for said gag order, so when the KI window is up, you will see the info back on the website.

If past policy holds, your 2009 pass is good until Nov. 1, which is the end of the season, excluding all private events. So, if you renew your pass for 2010, your 09 pass is still good for unlimited admission to Haunt (but recall that once Haunt begins at 7, no readmittance if you leave). As for past practices, such as the inclusion of a free 09 ticket, I haven't heard if the park will be doing that or not.

It was pretty good..lots of mirrors, strobes..themed like a hospital..best haunted attarction I ever did was the former Terror on Church Street in Orlando..wow that was intense!
-
I grew up with Snoopy and the gang, so this isn't bad news to me anyway. as for spongebob leaving the theatre, his time had come..the film was looking pretty ragged the last time I was there a few wks ago..i wish they would put in a 4-d movie like muppet vision or alien encounter. Heck, the Cincy zoo's 4-d movie was better than spongebob!!

I expected this move for quite some time, based on previous years. Glad they're way out ahead of the curve on this one.

They HAD a great ride in the Crypt. Add some new effects (they don't have to be themed much, since we all know CF isn't in the theme business), bring back the first ride program it had after it became the Crypt and voila--a new and improved ride.. combine that with repairs to sonny and the park could market 2010 as having 2 new rides.

I recall a couple of seasons ago, it was announced that the park would close for an hour between reg ops and haunt and that you needed a wristband and ticket (or show your pass) to get inside once haunt began. I was at Haunt 2-3 times that year and I never saw the park follow through with that rule..in fact, all rides and attractions were open between 6-7. I guess the park quietly realized that such a system would never work. I would hope they don't try it again. On a side note, I assume Haunt is included with your gold/plat pass and will not be an upcharge this year?

If you just want a gold pass like me, this is a deal that can't be beat. I haven't paid 69.99 in at least 4-5 years, so I will def be jumping all over this deal when I'm at the park. Last year a renewal was 79.99 plus 5.00 to upgrade to gold, so 84.99 total. I assume you would go to the season pass processing area to buy the pass.
