If you want a burger, I would go to Jukebox Diner in Coney Mall. They taste like a hamburger, and not like the cafeteria-style burgers sold elsewhere in the park. The restaurant also featues good hand-dipped shakes and a Coke freestyle machine.

Cedar point now charging 15$ for parking!

On average, asphalt lasts about 10 years; concrete 20. When was the last time Ki resurfaced their parking lots? -

Stay on property ;-) In May I was at the Wilderness Lodge. Transportation was a snap - you just had to do a little homework before-hand to know what shuttles. The trade-off with Disneyland (I've been there too) is that although it's easier to access... and it's Walts original vision... the park is VERY confined and congested. It's also surrounded by, um, not so nice visuals (although you can't see them while in the park... none the less they are there as soon as you leave property!) Dinseyland definitely has a more intimate feel... but it doesn't provide the escapism of WDW property IMO. Shaggy Agreed--stay anywhere on property, then take a bus right to the front gate. Just dont try getting to the MK by bus or car immediately after the disney marathon..wow, that was an experience. I like a lot of the CA version of the rides better at DL but the park is def constrained by its borders..which is part of the reason Walt went wild so to speak when purchasing land for WDW. -
The analogy to bridges is also a bad one. I worked for a state DOT in a legal capacity for 6 years and I know from that work that if a bridge is ignored for years on end, bad things inevitably happen that require more than simple maintenance to fix. I have a feeling this park is headed the way of Hard Rock/Freestyle Park-make a big splash, then quickly fade away. Assuming his season passes cost north of $60, why would anyone invest in that when you can generally renew a KI gold pass in the fall for around 70 or so?

Given the Supreme Court's rulings this week, looks like there may some extra celebrating going on that night!

Feel the grip of Vortex! (and other ramblings)

Luckily, the park recognizes the fondness people like you and me and others of that age group have for that font and have reproduced it on a t shirt in various colors for your purchase in the emporium. I think the shirt was like $15-20, -

Much has changed there in the past few years..the big thunder rehab is great (as is the interactive que, which is also fun at HM), the new FL is great (I enjoyed the Little Mermaid ride..the movie condensed into a 5 min ride), dueling dumbos (that que is spetacular..you que up until you enter a 'big top' tent..then you are given a pager and are then free to play in the circus themed play area inside or shop or eat..then your pager buzzes when its your turn)..and that's just at MK..Epcot has revamped Test Track, while the Studios have recently updated Star Tours. It's an always-changing place, just as Walt envisoned. If you get a chance, dine in Be Our Guest (inside Beast Castle in FL). Dinner is great, but reservations are hard to get. Lunch, however, is open to anyone. enjoy! -
Oh I'm sure, but if the State balks and Ed walks, that will be the end of the area possibly ever becoming an amusement park again. The highest and best use for that land never was a park to begin with...

Great cause! for all those going tomorrow--if a ride op asks you to wait a train (or cycle) or two to accomodate some of these kids, please don't hesitate to say yes!

HW: Matt Eckert named new President and CEO
Gabe replied to TombRaiderFTW's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
Whatever happens with the Court of Appeals, I'm sure will be the last (public) side of this. Knowing how the Indiana Supreme Court work, I just don't see them taking this case. I wouldn't rule out a settlement either before or after the opinion comes out. -
That's actually one of the easiest tricks to figure out..nothing too difficult about it..you're right in that there's only room for one to pop out at a time..but where do the others come from? hmmmm.look out below!

Kings Island ranked 15th most visited park in the U.S.!

I always recommend to college age kids to take a class on business law if offered at their undergraduate institution. Even if one isn't planning on becoming a lawyer, the knowledge gained can be useful. -
If Disney goes with Cars Land East at DHS, they are leaning towards either a dark ride or coaster along the lines of snow white over at MK. As for AK, i'm still not sold on it. I liked EE, Dinosaur and the safari. The rest just seemed blah to me. I agree with Terp...a few hours in the morning is about all I spend there if and when I make it a part of my Disney trips.

Disney tickets now have a Magic Kingdom premium
Gabe replied to Browntggrr's topic in Other Amusement Parks & Industry News
The price increase is only for single day tickets (for now). As the vast majority of those buying park tickets do so via the multi-day option, there is no price increase for the MK. -
There has been talk of removing the entire backlot attraction (save for Castrophe Canyon itself, which would be saved and incorporated into the new land) to make room for either Cars Land or Star Wars land. As of last year, it seemed Disney was leaning towards Cars land east (without the raditor springs racers ride, since Test Track is basically that ride and is faster) but it seems like the star wars idea has taken root.

The Court has asked for briefs on the matter and will schedule oral argument sometime after that, probably in early fall. I would expect a decision in early 2014, followed by an appeal to the Indiana Supreme Court, which may or may not decide to hear the case. Of course settlement is an option too...

Get rid of them? Splash Mountain=best themed ride in the park with a great drop at the end and some other mild thrills inside the mountain. Small World=yes, there are a lot of dolls and the song can be torture, but many generations have grown up with that ride. Pirates=better before the addition of Johnny Depp and the era of political correctness but still a fun ride. Jungle Cruise=classic, corny fun. Grand Fiesta Tour--again, better before the 3 caballeors retheme but it's harmless enough and entertaining for kids (but teaches nothing about the culture of mexico like the old ride spiel did). Maelestrom=a fun C ticket attraction with great themeing and mild thrills. Living with the Land--a fun boat tour describing diff tpes of agriculture (better when it was narrated live Grizzly River Run--classic shoot the chutes. Not to mention the various resort boat launches. Just my two cents but I think WDW is quite content with its family of boat rides. Remember, part of Walt's vision was that when you enter the parks, you get to experience things you wouldn't in your normal lives. There is a reason that unlike at any other disney park in floirida, at the Magic Kingdom you simply cannot park your car and walk to the front gate.

which may serve to inadvertently discriminate against those people who dont feel like special treatment is warranted. I suppose an alternate solution would be for those whose kids are autistic and can't stand waiting, that a fastlane wristband be purchased (if it's within their budget), thus eliminating that aspect of the problem.

and no investor will invest in this day and age without a solid expectation of a return on his investment. If he cant get the outside funding he needs, perhaps he could turn to Kickstarter? For a $100 investment, he'll dig up some old plush toys and some VIP perks for you when the park opens!

It's bad enough the City of Louisville vastly underestimated the debt service for the YUM Center (and are now basically scraping money from every nook and cranny in the City budget to make the payments) that they've now agreed to give some of this badly-needed revenue back to KK. June 27 will (or won't be) and interesting day.

Has anyone seen the new Ed Alonzo show? If so, what's changed since last summer and how would you rate the new show? Just curious.

This morning on the "Today" show, around 7:30 AM, they ran a story on the instance of disabled people selling their services as a means to get onto rides without waiting in line to families. As an experiment, a crew hired a guide to see what would happen at DL. The result--despite Disney knowing about the practice, the crew was backdoored or put into the FP line on EVERY attraction they visited, Needless to say when the footage was sent to Disney, they were none too pleased. The guide in question has been bannred from the park and the company he works for is now being investigated internally by Disney. The reporter then interviewed the owner of the company who said she was just selling a service that people wanted. The guide was also interviewed, saying that despite his ban, he would continue to go to the park and expressed no remorse for what he did, saying he intends to do it over and over. Knowing the Mouse, I expect a swift crackdown on this practice immediately. Interestingly, there was no mention of what would happen to guests who were caught using the service.
