  1. At CP they let you wear your swim suit in the main area of the park for Snake River Falls and Thunder Canyon. Before Cedar Fair took over KI, you had to wear your regular street clothes on the wet rides in the main area of the park. ( White Water Canyon, Congo Falls.) Anyone know if Cedar Fair changing the no swim suit rule for KI?
  2. Thanks for the nice, upbeat trip report.
  3. The signs at KI have never been changeable like CP''s. I have always found the signs and the ride attendant's estimation unreliable. Usually they overestimate the waits. For example, at Firehawk, I timed the wait from the entrance to getting on the ride at approximately 1 1/4 hrs when the sign said two hours. The Beast sign usually overestimated the wait by about a half hour as did The Vortex sign.
  4. The Shooting Star was my first grow-up coaster. I was about 8 when I first rode it with my dad. I've been hooked on coasters since then.
  5. I grew up with both Racers going forward. Made me feel very nostalgic.
  6. The writer says she worked at Cedar Point hosting Mantis when Carmen worked at KI. Mantis didn't open until 1996.
  7. 1. Beast 2. Firehawk 3. Drop Tower 4. Flight of Fear 5. The Crypt- A big round of applause to Cedar Fair for transforming one of the worst rides in the park (aka Tomb Raider.) to one of the best.

    The Crypt

Rode Crypt today also. Outstanding ride. It is a totally different ride from TR and for the better. Way to go Cedar Fair.
  9. I do agree that allowing Gold Pass customers to detour straight to the Gold Pass parking lot causes less congestion. The simple solution would be that you simply show your pass to the security person and he would simply let you go straight to the Gold Pass parking lot. Very simple solution. For me,however, this issue is not worth making a Federal case. There are just too many positives about my opening day experience that outweight this. If you do have an issue with something, however, you are likely to get it resolved if you bring it to the attention of a manager. Believe me, they do listen.
  10. The Hitchcock movie Vertigo (with one of my fav actors Jimmy Stewart.) was a Paramount picture. How ironic.
  11. Speaking for myself, I had a very pleasant day today at KI. Cedar Fair is doing a bang up job, especially with cleanliness and ride capacity. Cannot wait until next year for you know what. (Did anyone notice the footers on the midway in Rivertown? Someone in my group pointed them out to me.) Only draw back was the unexpected cold weather. ( I didn't dress warm enough. )
  12. Obviously they are building a coaster at Swan Lake. Please oh please, may we finally get our B and M.
  13. Last year it was a beautiful day on opening day and it wasn't crowed at all. In April the crowds are usally light at KI. In May, the crowds seem to pick up because there are a lot of school trips that month.
  14. Mantis rocks. Its still a pretty popular ride at the point. I am sure people wouldn't stand in line for it if they didn't like the ride. I would like to see a B and M stand up hyper coaster.
  15. Definately SOB. I think it is worse with the loop out and the new trains. Close second is Face-Off. The g's on the ride make me come close to fainting. Quite a few people have rated Mantis one of the worst. I must say it is one of my favs. It doesn't hurt your knees if you bend them a little. Also if you hold your head forward it doesn't get banged around.
  16. I'm looking forward to seeing the construction area for rumor coaster 2009
  17. I used to always see the Anaconda from KD in KI Commercials.(That's the arrow coaster that goes into an underwater tube.)
  18. Does anyone have a photo of The Beast queue area in the early years before they drained the lake?
  19. I remember the movie was released in the summer of 1977 but got overshadowed by a "little movie" called Star Wars.
  20. When I was a kid, there was this tiny little park in Reading called Pee Wee Valley. It had a litttle kiddy coaster which just went around in a circle. I guess I would say that was my first coaster if we are going to count all coasters, including kiddy rides. My first adult coaster was of course the Shooting Star at old Coney.
  21. I"ll go wherever the walkback is.(Unless it is to Face Off which makes me light-headed because of the g-force or to SOB.)
  22. My fav defunct ride is Bavarian Beetle. The Wild Cat at CP reminds me of it but its still not the same.
  23. yeee haw!!!! Sorry, couldn't help myself. That song always does that to me.
  24. You state that they are processing passes Mon 11/5 to Sun 11/11. The park was open today Sat 10 - 4p and it is also open tomorrow Sun 11/4 for pass proscessing 10a to 4p.
  25. If i am not mistaken drop zone did drop from a higher point in its first year.
