  1. I have absolutely no idea what you're talking about... who would do such a thing? The fog should be all cleared out by November 2nd at 10:30 am, so you can stop complaining about it a day earlier than you posted.
  2. Is he on anyone's good side? My one and only visit to LeSourdsville Lake was my worst park experience ever (tied with KK in 1998). I went to GR with my list of complaints, Mr. Couch was in there and while I was talking to the GR rep, he stood listening for a while and then turned and left the room. I lost all respect for that man right then and there. Instead of taking it upon himself to resolve a situation, his actions pretty much said "I don't care." Fantasy Farm, on the other hand, I have good (albeit a little foggy) memories. We went there once or twice on field trips. The thing I remember most is the dark ride they had there and the Tom Sawyer's Caverns. They were both scary but fun. I remember going there, seeing the big park next door (Americana) and wanting to go there too. I wish I had back then because that trip in 2002 is unfortunately how I will always remember it.
  3. Oh yes, we know. Lots of water, and coating our throats with cough drops. It's advice that us old-timer scaractors pass on to the newbies every year. Without those, I wouldn't have a voice at all on Sundays. I learned my lesson my first year when I didn't have either one the first couple of weekends, then I started using them!
  4. The Undertaker is very good at what he does, and at least he's miked. This year, Sam has been wearing out my voice more than ever every weekend since he's doing more talking now that he's out in the open as soon as people enter the room. Sam did a fair share of talking in his spots in the old house, but this is going back to the level of talking as when I transformed into The Bouncer in Club Blood on Fridays & Saturdays in 2008. Sundays & Mondays my voice is really rough, Tuesdays are a little better and by Wednesday it's almost back to full strength. Then it's time to do it all over again. But I wouldn't have it any other way. A couple of the other Slaughter House scaractors and I were discussing this on Saturday. We each have told ourselves at the beginning of each night that we were going to take it easy in order to save our voices... but then once we start we instinctively ignore that thought in order to go all out. It was nice to know I wasn't the only one doing this. It's just more fun to not hold back!
  5. Challenge accepted! (Not really, but if I wasn't otherwise occupied on Friday nights...)
  6. I'm fairly certain I know which cottage they are referring to. There was a cottage over near Paratrooper and Tilt-A-Whirl that had partially collapsed. It was in extremely poor condition and would be dangerous if someone had attempted to enter it. But I don't see in the article anywhere that says CLP was paying for the demolition, just that they had reached an agreement with the owner of the cottage. Whether that agreement was financial or just good faith is unclear.
  7. Nice TR! Reading that, I was reminded of my teenage days bringing dates to the park. Of course, back then there was no Haunt (or even FearFest) but I would have loved it if there was. Enjoy these times!
  8. Every year there's a topic like this, and every year I love reading it! Not only for the good, but also for the critical. I like to read what's working and what's not. And thank you, cfred & LoraX! Glad you enjoyed your visit to our house. Y'all are going to make Sam blush... (and no, Sam's not the guy in the Skeleton Key room, but believe me "tall dude" will be reading this topic if he hasn't already).
  9. My grandma, who just celebrated her 90th birthday on September 8th, used to go to Chester Park as a girl. She said that Coney was just too hard to get to but her family could get to Chester by taking the trolley. She said that's where she rode her first roller coaster and where they used to go swimming.
  10. Living with two non-Star Wars fans, I get where you're coming from, but personally I would love to see an expanded Star Wars section. I've loved the series since I first saw Episode IV in the theater as a kid in 1977 (it's the first movie I remember seeing in the theater). The Star Wars weekends the DHS has each June are a huge draw for the park, and with the franchise being revitalized I could see this happening. However, I do agree with you about Avatar Land. When it was first announced I just groaned. I didn't care for the movie at all, and to base a whole new section of a park with multiple attractions on one movie, even if it is the highest grossing movie of all time, just seemed ridiculous to me. Yes, I know there are plans for more Avatar films, but so far the Avatar franchise has not proven to have the staying power of Star Wars... perhaps in time it will. Maybe it's just my dislike of the film that's clouding my opinion of Avatar Land. I'll more than likely see Avatar 2 when it eventually comes out (just to give the franchise a second chance), and I'm sure I'll visit Avatar Land at some point and may even end up liking it. I'm not really into Harry Potter but I appreciate all the detail that Universal put into Hogsmeade at IoA (haven't been back since Diagon Alley opened), and I consider HP & The Forbidden Journey to be the best dark ride on the planet. Perhaps Avatar Land will impress me just as much. I'm open.

  12. That furnace has been a part of Slaughter House since it started in its original incarnation in 2009. I was glad to see it made the move and is displayed much more prominently in the new house.
  13. Thanks LoraX! It was good to see you come through the other night. That was Sam. He never did find that pig but I have a feeling that he may find another one that will become his new favorite.
  14. Thanks! I'd love to see Skeleton Crew, but I'll be otherwise occupied. So yes, please let us know how it is, anyone who goes (Magenta Lizard)!

  16. Sorry, Sam got hold of my account again. Please excuse him, he gets really excited this time of year. Sam can be found in the all new Slaughter House Reloaded.

  18. Look at the "teeth" on the key. The "negative space" (non-metal carving/the section where you can see the black background) forms the number 14. Tilt your head to the right. If you tilt your head to the left you see "hi".
  19. ^Then you need to get to Disneyland sometime between mid-September to early January for the Haunted Mansion/Nightmare Before Christmas overlay. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haunted_Mansion_Holiday
  20. Cool! I didn't see that until you made me look at it again.
  21. "When the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake Spooks come out for a screaming wake Happy haunts materialize and begin to vocalize Grim grinning ghosts come out to socialize Now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide Or a silly spook may sit by your side Shrouded in a daft disguise, they pretend to terrorize Grim grinning ghosts, come out to socialize" Those are lines from the song "Grim Grinning Ghosts", which is the song that plays in Haunted Mansion at the Disney parks.
  22. ^We saw it last Saturday and it was excellent! I've been a fan of their's for years and they put on a great show mixing live music, film and live action. Loved the ending, but you won't get any spoilers from me... except to say that it's not over once the show ends... move along out the exit please...
  23. I recognized those almost-lyrics right away. It's in my "Haunt mix", my selection of songs that I listen to almost exclusively this time of year. Yeah, it's a favorite of mine... both the song and the attraction.
  24. Changes in longitude, changes in attitude just doesn't have as good a ring as the Jimmy Buffett song.
