  1. Thanks for posting that! I was surprised to see that they were closed on Mondays.
  2. ^I had those once last year, and they were very good!
  3. The past two times we've gone to Dollywood have been in November 2009 & November 2010. Both of those times we got the QBot, which I love. It really helped for the shows. Some of the lines to see the shows got extremely long, so being able to reserve a seat at the beginning of the day let us enjoy our time more. Plus, I really like how it gives you the wait times for the rides with the QBot lines. Even if you aren't reserving one of those rides at the time, it's nice to be over near the train and know the wait time for Tennesee Tornado before going back there. Shortly after I got checked into Mystery Mine, I was able to reserve Thunderhead and go right over to that next. I know some on here are opposed to "paid line jumping", but Dollywood's QBots are affordable (at least to me) and help make the best of our limited time when we go since we only go for one day each year. As far as crowd sizes on late June weekends, sorry but I'm not able to help. I haven't been there during the summer since about 2001 or 2002.
  4. I saw the Way Too Much TV rehearsal on Sunday before American Country. They did the whole show non-stop, so I'm counting it in my show count for the year even though they weren't in costume and didn't have the show lighting. The Festhaus shows are great this year, can't wait for the others to start!
  5. Which falls into the "You always want what you can't have" mentality...boy that rides sucks...oh, they're taking it out I better ride it! (SOB anyone?!) I guess it does! But it's a ride that opened with the park so it will be nice to have one last ride on it for that reason. I didn't know my last ride on Mr. Toad's Wild Ride would be my last. I loved that one. Sorry I don't care for the Treehouse. Though I promise I'll look at it from across the way while I'm enjoying my Dole Whip at Aloha Isle!
  6. I'll repeat what I said to Shaggy yesterday, and add emphasis this time : EDIT: DIeseltech beat me to it!
  7. I didn't mean at WDW, I meant in general. But if I was to stick with WDW, I'd much rather ride GMR than sit through Sounds Dangerous with Drew Carey again, or walk through Swiss Family Treehouse. Okay, so those aren't rides, but GMR isn't much of a ride, it's more of a conveyence between movie scenes. As far as rides, I can't really think of two that are worse, but GMR is on my "bottom tier" of their rides along with Gran Fiesta Tour, Journey into Imagination with Figment, Maelstom and Snow White's Scary Adventures. They're all okay rides, but they're not must-do's when I go (except for Snow White when I go in July, since it will be taken out soon). I'd probably put Tomorrowland Speedway on that list too, but I've never ridden it so I haven't given it it's fair shot yet.
  8. I'm glad you had a great time at Holiday World. It's one of my favorite parks. I usually only go there once a year on their opening day, but this year I'm going five times, the next being tomorrow and Saturday for Holiwood Nights. I'm sorry to hear that you didn't care for Raven, I love flying through the woods and skimming over the lake. All three of their wood coasters are on my Top 10 Wood list. As far as Frightful Falls, I rode it on opening day (May 7th) and I don't remember seeing any tombstones. I plan on riding it again either this Saturday or June 20th, so I'll try to remember to see if they're there.
  9. I rather like GMR. Sure, there's better attractions there, but it's nowhere near as bad as some things I've been on.
  10. ^^You got that picture at a unique time. No fencing around it!
  11. ^Sure you can, but expect to get a warning from a moderator about it at some point. From the Terms of Service:
  12. Some of us don't have to imagine. Some of us remember quite well when OL:FoF had OTSRs. OUCH!
  13. I don't think anyone who ever saw TrainedBeast would mistake her for a bear.
  14. Just a word of warning, Coney Mall Potato Works DOES NOT serve the same fries as Rivertown Potato Works. We were eating at Outer Hank's on Sunday, and my sister wanted RPW fries. I told her that she could get them at Coney Potato Works across from Racer. What she brought back were thin fries, which were very disappointing in their quality. They were still fried in peanut oil, but they were not the thick cut fries. She was going to complain to GR about the change, but I suggested that we take notice of the fries when we walk by RPW to see if those had changed first before she complained. We eventually made it to that part of the park, and RPW does still has the same thick cut fries that they've had in years past.
  15. Welcome to KIC, spitfire! My first trip was back in 1972, although I don't remember any of it because my mom was pregnant with me at the time. She rode The Racer that day, and I blame that for my love of rides. My first real trip was a few years later, but again I don't remember specifics of that first trip because I was so young. We used to go once a year using the tickets my grandma got from working there. My memories of those trips are similar to KIfan1980's, riding everything with Mom, her brother and my sister: Tumblebug, Bayern Kurve, Enchanted Voyage, the airtime on Racer (with buzz bars and no seatbelts or seat dividers! ), the Monorail, Scooby Doo (now Woodstock Express), watching the drum on the organ as we passed each time on the carousel, etc. And then there was 1979 when my sister and I waited 2 hours with my grandma while Mom and my uncle rode The Beast. I remember that quite clearly, waiting near the exit for them to come out, and looking at the coaster and only being able to see the lift hill. I was just slightly too short that year, but got to ride it for the first time in 1980. I now get to experience things anew once more whenever GatorGirl reaches a new height level. This past Sunday she got her first rides ever on Congo Falls (she loved it) and White Water Canyon. She was nervous about WWC, and was whimpering through the whole ride. But she loved squirting the people once we got off. I guess she shares my sadistic side (or as rotag said, "Future Hauntster in training").
  16. I would have to say: "YES PLEASE!" I'd love to hear some MK inanity!
  17. That seems earlier than before. I think it was July when they posted it the past few years. I guess September is closer than we thought. I'm excited for it too, but the summer hasn't even begun yet!
  18. I saw the yellow hydraulic/piston/shock absorbers on one arm on Sunday. All the rest that I could see from my vantage point had not been added yet.
  19. ^What in the world are you talking about? Kings Island owns the land that SoB sits on.
  20. ^And if it helps them save money at the same time, that's even better!
  21. ^Thanks for posting that article. Even though I never made it to GL, it's good to see this piece of history survive. Now if only we could get an operating organ on KI's. I'd be happy even if it wasn't the original one, which according to hints elsewhere on this site is sitting in someone's private collection. The organ has always been my favorite part of the carousel, and the piped in music is nowhere near the same. That's why I loved going to the Indianapolis Children's Museum last year and riding a carousel with an actual working organ again.
  22. gad posted a very similar topic two years ago for Holiday World, updated it last year when the offer became available again, and then updated it again today since the offer's available again on June 1st of this year. That topic has survived this long without being deemed in violation of the TOS. http://www.KICentral...ndpost&p=297121
  23. I think I can safely say that there are many of us on here that are known in our places of employment or schools as KI addicts. Whenever someone in my department has a question about KI, they know who to ask! There's one guy that, everytime he talks to me, asks me if I've ridden WindSeeker yet. He even asked me this in the beginning of April... That's a nice paper. It reminds me of when GatorGirl was asked in her kindergarten class at the beginning of the school year where her favorite place was. Hmmmm... take a wild guess what her answer was... That's my girl!
  24. Cedar Fair to Nominate Gina France for Board of Directors. Also interesting to note, CF will be reducing the Board back down to seven members. http://www.prnewswire.com/news-releases/cedar-fair-to-nominate-gina-france-for-board-of-directors-122591443.html
