  1. This seems like a response to my Facebook post last night! Yes, hopefully I'll be more patient with them today. I'm betting they just assumed that. There have been plenty of times where people, media outlets included, hear the word "attraction" and immediately think "ride". Heck, just look at a lot of the posts in this topic. I'm not saying it isn't a ride, just that there's just a strong possibility that it may not be. There are several reasons why WAH didn't last, but if that reason was even anywhere on the list, it was far down on it! Reason #31,811 to not believe everything you read on Screamscape: Mr. T Rex is nowhere near the main gate area. It's right next to the South Tolls plaza. The main gate area is widely considered to be the metal detector/turnstile area, not Tolls.
  2. I went by the park and took some pictures from the south parking lot entrance. These were taken at about 5:45 tonight. Mr. T Rex appears to be mounted out there. As others have said it appears to be there to advertise the new attraction, whatever it may be. There was someone working on the tail. GatorGirl, Mr. T Rex and the infamous shipping container.
  3. http://www.orlandose...0,5366092.story Wow, this is huge. Definitely a story to follow over the next few months.
  4. And who over-hyped it? Not Kings Island, but instead enthusiasts like you. Dude, they are hyping it. did you see their site? SOMETHING BIG COMES TO Kings Island Yes, the park is hyping it. But who's OVER-hyping it? Many of the posters in this topic...
  5. Yes, and Drop Tower was built upside down. I know this because a former KI blue ice cream/pizza seller said that his dad said so. That's got to be more reliable than the Dippin' Dots guy, so it must be true. Hopefully they don't build WS upside down too! Now you listen here, My papa is a master carpenter/construction folk, he has built many things in the park, he built and worked with many things that were built in Action Zone back in the late 90s and early 00s. The second piece of drop zone was put on wrong, upside down. You all are quick to darn people and their words. Y'all think you know so much about everything and when someone says one thing you don't like you condem them and make them look as a fool!!! First of all, I only know so much, and certainly not about everything. Secondly, I never said I didn't like what you said. In fact, it's quite the opposite. I've gotten quite a few good chuckles over your claims. Thirdly, some people don't need others to "make them look as a fool". Some people are quite capable of doing that to themselves simply by what they say. Wow, way to make me feel old! What???? Where in the world did goodyellowkorn say in his post that this would be a big attraction on the scale of a roller coaster???? I think Friday is going to be a very disappointing day for you. I respectfully disagree. That may be the case for you, but there are plenty of others that like to enjoy all that a park has to offer, including the many entertainments options that are available besides the rides. Variety is a good thing. As I said before: That is correct. In the past KI has had several walk though attractions, including Congo, Titanic, Star Trek (twice), dinosaurs and if I remember correctly, giant insects. EDIT: I am consistantly amazed at the levels of denial that some people insist on living in...
  6. It occured on Primeval Whirl while the ride was closed for scheduled maintenance. It's the second cast member death associated with that ride. http://www.orlandosentinel.com/the-daily-disney/os-disney-worker-dies-20110314,0,5316565.story
  7. EVERYONE is ranting that SoB was good? I think not. While not the worst coaster I've ever ridden, it's definitely not the best either. While most likely dino related, the new attraction may not necessarily be the Dinosaurs Unearthed exhibit. Notice the quote about Cincinnati is in the past tense, as in it already appeared here. Dinosaurs Unearthed is a travelling exhibit, and was at Cincinnati's Museum Center in 2009. I love lawn darts!!! And there are plenty of people who like to enjoy all that parks have to offer. I find it quite nice to spend time at places like Cedar Point's Town Hall Museum, Holiday World's Abe Lincoln & Toy Museum and Disney Hollywood Studios' One Man's Dream. I completely agree with you. Thank you for your mature outlook, which is something that a few people posting in this topic could use. Yes, and Drop Tower was built upside down. I know this because a former KI blue ice cream/pizza seller said that his dad said so. That's got to be more reliable than the Dippin' Dots guy, so it must be true. Hopefully they don't build WS upside down too!
  8. I saw that DK and thought Discovery Kingdom, as in Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. Did SFDK have anything dino related that they recently got rid of? Gator, adding fuel to the fire, fanning the flames... Burn Baby Burn Ride Sally Ride
  9. ^Wow, that's been a while! There have been several since then. The last one was on Jan. 31st of this year: "Things are shaping up in Coney Mall at Kings Island! Check out KICentral for the latest photos of WindSeeker and other improvements!"
  10. Yes, coaster_junky did here: http://www.KICentral...ndpost&p=419098, 103 posts and 7 hours 1 minute before you did. Free to gold pass holders? Egad, I would hope not! With the sheer amount of gold pass holders that would be terrible! For those readers of KIC that find delight in the disappointment of others, it will be hilarious. Others, in particular those that are pumping themselves up that this will be an inverted stand up B&M hyper dive machine dinosaur-themed Texas Giant reimagining of SoB, will find it not so hilarious. Personally, the first few posts of disappointment will probably be funny to me, but my enjoyment will quickly devolve into despair upon reading post after post of people complaining that KI did not following through with the posters' outrageous expectations.
  11. I want to see Clifford the Big Red Crane return to the park!!!!
  12. For some reason, I like this idea! Exactly what I've been thinking since last week. Yep, perfect example of what goodyellowkorn said! I'm not even going to try to predict what all this could mean. I'll just sit back and enjoy all the speculation. But I do think this has nothing to do with SoB. Ride Sally Ride!
  13. So what? To the average KI attendee, Vortex is probably still unique. Remember that enthusiasts make up a miniscule section of the park-going public, and just because a newer coaster was added with one more inversion doesn't mean that a majority of KI's guests know or even care. More popular than pizza? No. But I spent two fun summers working at Bier Gardens/Oktoberfest Gardens (now Outer Hank's) where we did a good amount of business selling metts, brats, sauerkraut and German potato salad. If these were still offered anywhere in the park, you can bet that I'd be there! Next time you go, definitely try something from one of those places. Mrs. Gator & I did back in November and it was wonderful. But then again, I've never had any bad food at Dollywood!
  14. But I've never seen Dino Island I!!! I'll be completely lost if I see the sequel first!
  15. Danny Bonaduce lives by his own rules!
  16. A couple of weeks ago, I went to Borders (because they're closing the Mason Montgomery location and were having a huge sale) and one of the items I purchased was Ohio's Amusement Parks in Vintage Postcards. My grandma happened to be over when I got home, and she immediately grabbed that book and started looking for pictures of Chester Park. There were several, but I had never heard of Chester Park until that moment. She said that was where she went when she was a girl. Of course she went to Coney too, but Chester was closer and they went there more often.
  17. This is great news! GatorGirl will be thrilled... That is, if we ever get to Coney as a family this year (besides during Fall-O-Ween), since my company's picnic is now at KI instead of Coney!
  18. ^I don't think so! You won't find me in anything that tight!
  19. It's good to see I'm not the only one with that opinion. The only thrill I get from it is trying to flip the ball over. A lot of people have responded Drop Tower, but to me that's nothing compared to Skyflyer. Looking straight down at the ground with nothing between you and it but a harness is the scariest thing in the park!
  20. Calling goodyellowkorn... Calling goodyellowkorn...
  21. ^I'll keep that in mind, but I'm not exactly the skinniest person so I'm not sure they'll carry my size!
  22. Frankly I don't think a "liver" atmosphere would be very enjoyable I love funny tiepolls. I agree with you completely. At Busch Gardens Europe, they have a great drum corp, magicians, crooners, wild bird displays, and other performers all over the park. It really adds alot to the vibe of the park and would be a great and inexpensive addition to KI. I agree with you on the liver atmosphere, but I'm not exactly sure what a tiepoll is either. Perhaps a typo? I was thrilled when I saw all the roaming entertainment at Hersheypark two years ago, especially the Chocolate Covered Band. That really brought me back to the good old days of watching KI's Clown Band from the window of the Bakery on International Street my first year working at the park, all the way back in 1989. On a side note, it's hard to believe that, come Haunt time, this will be my 20th season working at KI (I didn't work there '05-'08).
  23. ^To do what we did last year... meet up with friends and enjoy each other's company a little longer! There's always a few people who I don't see as much during the offseason as I do some others. As long as I have a big cup of coffee (and you'll always see me with one as I walk up to the metal detectors every opening day), I'll be able to handle the early morning!
  24. My challenge this year is trying to find swim trunks in my size without those #$%* rivets! I love me some waterslides, and I'm in need of some new trunks this year. The trunks I've had for years I can still wear, they just are really faded since I've had them since before GatorGirl was born.
