  1. I assume you're talking about Jurassic Park. In that case, you forgot a little thing called The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Although, Harry Potter were books first... Same could be said for The Cat in the Hat, Spider-Man, X-Men, Fantastic 4, even Popeye was a cartoon first, later turned into a movie... Come to think of it, even Jurassic Park was a book first. I once read a PTR on another site for DisneySea. Wow... what a great looking park! I'd love to go there... it's just a little hard being that it's in Japan!
  2. If you're talking about the ride shown in the video after the people eating and a quick shot of the Eiffel Tower, then that ride is Bayern Curve, which can be seen here. And I knew I was missing another one. I kept trying to think of it before I posted the 4th dog, but couldn't remember. Thanks! And don't forget a certain purple dinosaur that acted like a dog!
  3. Make that four, counting Huckleberry Hound. It had two.
  4. ^Thanks for the link, and thank you KI for putting this on the website! Woohoo! We're getting Bay Harbor? And here I thought that was only at CP... Just kidding, it's just one of those small errors that are still on the website. I'm totally fine with a few small errors, I'm very happy with the new website overall .
  5. First of all, nice photos. But... Not only was it "the first stand-up coaster to do a loop", it was the first stand up coaster period. Replace the train? With the monorail? Unthinkable! KI's (and now Carowind's) scooters were some of the most controllable ever! If you want "difficult to control" and carts that are "too heavy", try the ones at Holiday World! Who's to say that these were "broken down cars"? Much as coasters don't run all their trains everyday, I would imagine 'Tiques to not run all the cars everyday. A lot of how many trains/cars to put on a track has to do with attendance levels for each day. What? Seriously? Black Sunday was June 9, 1991. Paramount bought the parks in the fall of 1992. Over a year later... this is "immediately"? And Paramount "rigged the park that day"? Where are you getting this stuff? I completely agree with you, goodyellowkorn! That's very chilling to read, I can't imagine what it was like being there at the park when that occured. I was there that day. That year I was working in Rivertown Karts, and that day had been working in the Depot Sundae Shop. They let me off work a little early, and as I was walking out to my car I saw the AirCare helicopter landing in the area near the warehouses. I didn't know at the time what was going on, but after I ran a few errands and got home, my mom says to me "Get in here!" I go to the living room and the story is on the news. Very chilling, and such a sad day in KI history.
  6. I don't think I even need to comment. 'Nuff said...
  7. ^This is just the Platinum Pass, which CF has offered for years. I wouldn't really call it "big" news.
  8. I love the idea of having a group such as this. I'm one of those that are old enough to have been going to the park since the early 70's... my first trip was 1972 if you count my mom going to the park & riding The Racer while she was pregnant with me ... and I've been going every year since. Believe me, I would be one of the first people to sign up for something like this. But the pessimist in me agrees with Thrill Biscuit. Besides the legalities he pointed out, there's also the impression that the existence of such a group might give the GP. If a group were to be formed, some members of the GP may get the impression that CF doesn't care about their properties enough, and that may not be the impression that CF wants to give it's customers. However, I could be totally wrong and the GP may think it's a great thing, or they may not even care at all. You never know how public opinion will go. #1 on my list, and it unfortunately has been for years: fix the carousel's organ & reinstall it!
  9. ^I'm aware that the rides have always had them, I was just stating that they are now listed on the map.
  10. I don't think anyone's mentioned this yet, but on the pdf map, they've now added maximum heights for Firehawk, Invertigo, Delirium, Drop Tower and Flying Ace on the Rider Height Guide. Those maximum heights weren't on the chart on last year's maps.
  11. I, for one, am not a vegetarian and have no plans to ever become a vegetarian. But I applaud Selective's efforts to provide this information to those who are. Other parks (one with a giant mouse comes to mind immediately) do a great job providing this information themselves. If CF isn't going to do this, then it's good to see someone care enough to take this on themselves. As a parent of a kid with a peanut allergy (which hopefully she'll grow out of... we'll find out in a couple of months when she gets re-tested), it would also be nice if the park provided food allergy information on their website. But at least they provide signage in the park at the locations that do use peanut based products (such as peanut oil at Potato Works). Ah, Terpy, you're taking me back to my first job... 1989, I was 16 and working at La Patisserie Francaise (The French Bakery) on International Street. Excellent cookies, elephant ears, brownies, cream puffs, cinnamon & pecan rolls and other goodies all made right there on site. Now, it's been downgraded to a Starbuck's and we're stuck with Cinnabon. Sigh...
  12. A topic that is close to my heart, since I spent 10 years in Admissions at KI (back in the Paramount days). Those problems that people experienced at Carowinds are pretty unexcusable. Sure, technical problems happen, I've seen many of them and have had to deal with thousands of guests with issues. But if one is there at 9:05, and the park opened at 9:00, they should have had the good sense to not accuse that person of already being in the park. Gate Central has the ability to see when a pass is swiped and where and by whom... or at least it did as of 2004, which was my last year of using it, and I don't see any sane reason why they would have gotten rid of that feature. This feature wouldn't have been available at the turnstile, but just a quick trip to the computer in the office and the person dealing with the issue could have seen if it was swiped or not. It sounds like by the time Beast Man got there, they realized they had a problem. But when Terpy was there, it sounds like they definitely could have handled the situation much better. There was always a lot of quick thinking involved in Admissions. Whenever we ran into a problem, we'd have to move quickly to find a solution. We tried to make sure that our supervisors were empowered to make decisions on their own, and if they had an issue they could not readily find a solution to, a manager was either close by or a quick phone call away. Of course, this was at PKI, so I cannot speak for Carowinds under CF. The re-entry ink is another issue. I was very disappointed with the stuff KI used last year. The first time they put that on me, I washed my hands and it almost completely disappeared. After that, I made sure to not get the handstamp wet at all. Sure, the UV reactive ink we used when I was there was fairly expensive, but IT WORKED!... and it stayed on! At one time we tried a less expensive UV ink, but it was nowhere near as good and we quickly went back to our original brand. Hopefully KI comes back to their senses and goes back to the UV ink!
  13. Further Freedom Concert Charges: Sean Hannity’s Freedom Concerts have once again come under fire for allegedly fraudulent activity. http://www.pollstar.com/blogs/news/archive/2010/04/02/716831.aspx While this is not the forum to discuss politics, this article covers an event that visits Kings Island and is therefore relevant. A group is alleging that only $4 from each ticket sold goes towards the Freedom Alliance scholarship fund.
  14. On The Celebrity Apprentice tomorrow night (9:00 NBC), the teams have to come up with a marketing idea for WWoHP: From the looks of the commercials, they may be going to IOA. They showed several shots of the contestants in rooms that look like they may be from WWoHP. But it's unusual for the show to leave NYC, so it may just be something set up there.
  15. ^Oh, were you the other bidder? Sorry! I hate when people outbid me at the last minute, I've had that happen to me quite a bit. But then I learned to get on EBay at auction's end, and that's what I did this time. Bid with 4 minutes left, and kept hitting refresh to make sure I was still the top bidder!
  16. WOOHOO!!! I won! Thanks for posting this, Shaggy. I promise I'll take good care of it!
  17. That's good news! With all that we have going on that time of year, it's nice to have more opportunities to get down there!
  18. http://www.wcpo.com/...N6DmZGu3wA.cspx He was apparently riding his bike near Fort Wilderness and hit by the bus. So sad that something like this happened when the family was just there to have fun.
  19. Lapsed Licenses for Rides Lack Checks: http://www.indystar....amusement-rides Wow...just wow. Now I'm in no way up to date on all of Ohio's laws regarding ride licensing, but it seems to me that Ohio may be stricter, but I may be wrong though. The article also goes on to say that not only did the license lapse, but the park's insurance expired in December as well. I somehow doubt we'll be hearing from Gamz aka Amanda from Xscape on this situation.
  20. The new site looks great. I love seeing old pictures of the park, so the historical photo gallery was nice to see. Like Firehawk123, I just wish the official park site had ride photos. That always helps in planning, especially for someone who hasn't been before. I'm looking forward to getting there again this year. As far as I know, my company picnic should be there again (although no date's been set yet), and we had fun at Fall O Ween last year.
  21. I had to vote for Shaggy. That Shaggy and werewolf were probably the best props in the whole ride. If only all the characters in that ride had been that quality instead of wooden cutouts... I do like the look of the new guy, but Shaggy edged him out because... well, you know, it's Shaggy! I agree with you about Scrappy Doo. I've always said he and his constant "Puppy Power!" ruined a good thing, and that's why I loved that he turned out to be the villain in the first live action film. I still watched it when he was on the show, but didn't like it quite as much as the originals. But even Scrappy was better than A Pup Named Scooby Doo, which my daughter has recently discovered. Done deal. Everyone should now refer to this character as Richard Shaggy McPhearson. I say we call him Norville. A couple of people have commented that he looks like an older version of Shaggy (which I kind of agree with). And as Shaggy got older, wouldn't he drop the nickname and go by his real name, which is Norville Rogers?
  22. You've got your chicken, hot dogs, pork, potato salad, fruit, and treats, all nice BBQ items! But, what is different on this menu from last year? ^Also, I could see a lunch option being added if it is profitable, which it likely is since it's returning. I know last year they didn't have pulled pork, and I'm pretty sure they had burgers last year. I don't remember them having watermelon last year, but I could be wrong about that.
  23. Looks like Read & Ride with Snoopy is making a stop at Joseph-Beth Booksellers in Rookwood Pavilion on April 10th, including a character breakfast: http://www.josephbeth.com/adultevents.aspx
  24. ^Yeah... I don't know what we'll do without The Mystery Machine!
